Hello,
I have my Wildfire and the problem is, the portion near the status bar isn't working right. Like the 1cm upper portion seems to useless. I would like to change the resolution and the screen size that would allow me to use the handset and allow the touch possible beyond that area.
I will be changing the touch panel sooner but till then i need to use it the way it is.
I have tried changing with DPI but thats of no use.
Can you guide me, which file should i edit to change the display resolution by cutting down the non-working portion.
Thank You.
I don't think you can do that.
You're best current bet is to install CM7, as it allows you to move the status bar to the bottom.
Or use a separate launcher and set the swipe down gesture to open notification drawer. You can then just swipe your finger downwards anywhere on the screen....

Hi all,
With all the items on my today screen, a scroll bar has introduced itself...
Anyone know of a tweak/hack to reduced/shorten the height of the scroll bar? I.e. for it not to display the full length of the usable screen area. Or another option to make the main 'bar' transparent with just the 'arrows' present (much like the ones used in some HTML web pages)?
P.S. There's only so far you can go with narrowing it before it becomes non-usable!
Many thanks in advanced.
I may have gotten this one wrong, but AFAIK the "buttons" we have below the screen are just a part of the screen's extended touch-sensitive layer. This should also be true for Diamond2's/Touch Pro2's zoom bar. Which brings me to the main question.
Is it possible to simulate the zoom bar of HTC's new PDA generation on the HD's hard buttons area? Can we create such a module/program/whatever that would let us use the zoom bar by swiping a finger on the area below the screen?
Call -> End call
Zoom in
End call -> Call
Zoom out
that sounds quite interesting. maybe theres already something possible with some modification in apps like sensor scroll e.g
Well, this could theoretically replace one of the axes of the missing D-pad (probably the x-axis).
Yes, It's possible.

I'm already start the development and finish about 60% already.
I will upload the zoom bar on hd movie later.
My T5358+ was working fine except for the digitizer. So I order a replacement from China (I'm on Peru, at the other side) but the digitizer was not exactly of the same size.
Device works well but the original digitizer was slightly larger to support the zoom bar (swipe left and right actions). The new one doesn't cover this area.
So when I try to use Windows everything works fine, except I can not touch bottom bar commands because the zoom bar area is apparently "over" the bottom bar. If I use the image viewer I can make zoom dragging over the bottom bar.
If I rotate the screen, the bottom bar works fine because it's moved to another place not below the zoom bar.
So I want to disable the zoom bar to let windows use the entire touch area. I 've spent some hours looking at the registry for some value, but no luck for me.
Thanks for your help.

I don't think that you can change anything in here.
You should get proper touchscreen.
I'm currently using cm9 nightly build and everything works pretty well.
I know that in AOKP we can change the on-screen navibar's colour, size etc and I think it is a great feature. However I just figure out an alternative way to further delay the screen burn-in, sorry I'm a noob i don't know jack about coding...
Is it possible that, in each time, when you turn on your screen, your navibar's keys colour will change randomly. For example, when you turn on your screen, the keys are yellow, you turn off your screen and turn on it again, this time the keys are red etc.
With AOPK, you can disable the Nav Bar and change transparency. Enabling 180* rotation the Nav Bar follows. You can enable Nav Bar options in the Power Menu as well, but that's not exactly convenience.
There is also this gesture app LMT, but I don't use it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
I just hide the top and bottom bar each day with aokp, browse the web with total full screen, and my burn in is gone. Just need to exercise those pixels is all.
The power button menu has a show/hide nav button shortcut, so easy to do.
How long would it take for burn in? Back on my Samsung Vibrant, never had that issue, and it was Super Amoled.
I don't do any fancy things like you guys do. I just rotate my phone from portrait to landscape to where the nav bar is next to the front cam. I do this every time i'm on landscape. That way all the pixels get used/exercised. I don't suffer from any burn in had my phone since Feb.

that's a great idea, we can also use our phone upside down with the option rotate 180 degree on. lolol I can't stop laughing when I see myself using my phone upside down lol

Glad I could help Since the front of the phone is pretty much all black doesn't even make a difference to how it looks (cam on the left or right or even down )
Hi Guys, so I've increased the dpi to custom under developer settings to 581. Everything seems to work great except for touch position on the dialer and it's pretty irritating. Anyone knows a solution to this or to selectively reduce the dpi on tbe dialer app? I'm not rooted. Look at the screenshot of the issue. Thanks!
I use 589, and no issues, but with 600, the notifications panel becomes very narrow, but no issues with anything else
i use 480 w lowered font size and "fineprint" font.... everything works perfect

Tried 589 and same issue. Can you confirm you don't have the issue on your dialer? Weird why this would be.
I just double checked, at 589, the dialer is normal, but, I have the screen resolution at wqhd+, fhd gives me some troubles in the zone of the nav bar, and I say zone because I hide the nav bar, gestures work ok, but, buttons appearing there become unresponsive, the same for the bottom row of the keyboard

For some reason I still have the issue in the OP screenshot. I've resorted to 520 now with QHD+, things are slightly better on the dialer but still largely the same.
