So cool to see that 3 years ago the app I am using also worked for someone. I adore ArkMC cause it has all features I need. It is compatible with PS3, PS4, Xbox360, Xbox One, HD TVs, what is really important for me as I like to stream my music to my PS4 when having a party. Secondly, it supports Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound what not many streaming apps have. And finally, all media formats are ready to use without conversion.

I'm currently trying to find apps that stream videos over 3g/WiFi that has a large collection of tv shows and movies. Also an app that has preferably a lot of anime as well..Does anyone have ideas of some?
Currently I'm using:
TV.com
Crackle
Try veetle.com as well, not sure about the anime though.

You could try it with BubbleUpnp.
I am using ES File Explorer to access Movies/Music from my D-Link NAS box on the local network, I haven't hooked up HDMI, and I have only tested a few movies but seems to work ok.

What audio codec? At a guess I would say it is DTS audio, which recently became unsupported in MX Player due to "licensing issues" (same thing occurred in Dice Player too). Try to get an older apk for the app and see whether audio works if it is DTS audio.
That would be the first thing I would look at. Make sure what ever your using (app) supports the audio format your trying to play. If it does not you can simply convert the file to something else. There are many programs out there to do it.

Most support streaming via dlna type protocol. Ffound an app that does screen mirroring MirrorOp but lags.
A hw/sw solution xbounds looks amazing but no mention of availability yet.

Im guessing nas is network attached storage.... I had the same issues going from my computer through dlna router to tv with those same type files.... it's because nothing had proper codecs... ended up installing divx codecs and allshare to fix it... don't know what your fix is, since its stored on external storage and i thought the s3 could play those files... but this search looks promising
Softmedia Player is what I used on the Samsung Vibrant for this purpose. I'll have the GS3 tonight and this will be one of the first things I'll be exploring. It's a bit overkill, but there is now an xbmc for android that I've tried on my wife's GS2. It works well and can use UPnP sources.

Softmedia Player is working well for me for UPnP. I also installed MX Video player as well and when Softmedia Player asks, I use MX to play the videos. MX uses hardware decoding where possible and otherwise reverts to software.
Is there possible to port Samsung Link to nexus 7? I want this because I was using Allshare on my samsung and was the best application for handle dlna content.

Some more free options for streaming files from Android device to dlna-Tv, mediaplayer, etc.
Wondershare especially and Twonky Mobile (not Beam) almost have excellent video codec support. IMediaShare and UpnPlay good but only few videocodecs. For only mp3 2Player good and mentioned UpnPlay probably more audiocodecs but for certain mp3 and flac.Wondershare and Twonky M. certainly even more audiocodecs. Imediashare only mp3 .Wondershare (local media, refresh) ,UpnPlay and 2Player (both internal file browser) easiest finding media on your device. Others find media only in their own app-folders and Android a/v folders..
Tested with a Samsung Smart Tv and WDTVlive
Nb.
Nas/WDTV Live/Windows Shares (smb) free streaming to Android device (ability to add shares in app):
1.Video: DicePlayer, Archos Video (also codecpack!) and BsPlayer
2.Audio: ArmAmp, BsPlayer and Es File Manager. XenoAmp streams good but terrible UI.
