That's I'm unsure of? I don't usually run with nightlies, so I'm not even sure if a change log exists? You may try looking at them through ROM manager or goomanager, and they may have a change log, but I can't say for sure. Good luck, & I hope that helps you some..

What are the differences of Nightlies to the regular CM10?

Well, nightlies are a new build every night, so they can vary. Sometimes features are added & removed, as nightlies are test builds before a RC(release candidate).

This is true.... Anyone who's enjoying cm10, it's at least worth your time to check out the nightlies.

Installed cm 10 for the first time last night. So far so good. Fast as hell on the stock kernel, can't wait to get some over clocking ability with it. This nightly should be called a daily instead.

no offense, but i highly doubt that it should be called a daily. there are still LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of things that need to be fixed and implemented into these CM10 builds. everyone working on it is doing an AMAZING job, but it isnt a daily just yet. still has some reboot issues for some, screen flicker, etc...
i just hope its not too long till the RCs start comin.

Disabling HW overlay solves the flickering and reboot issues. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend trying it out. I ended up going back to freegs3 however. I actually admit that i missed a lot of tw's interface and features. After the cm10 settled a bit it seemed to be just as fast as freegs3 (overclocked) with the exception of improved touch response. Battery life was a bit better too since i have to oc to match cm10's speed.

I love cm10 but the data speeds suck on it. 5-6 mbps. Curious about the nightlies though. And I never ever had reboot issues with cm10.

Well, I ran cm10 for about 5hrs today, and out of roughly 10 phone calls, 3 of them lead to a reboot mid call. I didn't try a reinstall and I also never really looked into it. Maybe fixing permissions, clearing cache & dalvik would've helped resolve the issue, or I could've had a bad flash? Just because it happens to one person doesn't necessarily mean it will happen to everyone.

Very true.
sent from my SGS3... the envy of all many friends!

What's the proper procedure for flashing nightlies over one another? Is it simply wipe cache, wipe dalvik cash, flash latest nightly, reboot? IIRC a full wipe is not necessary when flashing a new nightly over a previous nightly, correct?

as far as i know it is not necessary, but it is, as always, highly suggested. bug reports hold less water if it is not a clean install, and you are more likely to run into bugs especially as they fix the bigger issues.

GSM AOSP 4.0.4 has been compiled by Birdman on Rootzwiki.
I just installed it and everything seems to work fine. Blazing fast animations.
For those of us who are rooted and have Clockworkmod. Worked without wipe; it is however recommended as usual.
Be sure to pick up his dictionary fix file. Also working fine with Lean Kernel installed.
Have a look over here for the download!
Did you have to flash the superuser fix also? I assume this kills root.

No way dude, you don't notice it? Animations are definitely smoother. Will see battery life tomorrow, but it's smoother at least to me. Was on Bugless Beast. Also I flashed Faux Kernel with it for 4.0.3 and I realized it got less smooth, I think there are some good improvements to the 4.0.4 kernel.
How long should a first boot take? mine seems to be still booting after about 2-3 minutes.

I came from AOKP and can definitely see a difference in the animation speeds and a general smoothness that wasn't there before. One of the most noticeable changes is how quickly folders on the home screen open.

I just flashed the latest Milestone nightly kernel because I forgot to after flashing the 4.0.4 update. After that and rebooting, it's definitely smoother. I change my earlier answer, lol.
That's odd. I found the 4.0.4 kernel that came with it seemed slower than Milestone nightly.

Back to my Gingerbread ROM! ! !

after trying most roms, I have come to a conclusion! Aokp beautiful smooth great rom, has terrible data loss (los) both wifi and 3g. blue kuban rom, good rom many many features, no matter how many times I wipe and reinstall, I keep losing wifi. and f f 18, scrolling is too laggy. Cm9 LOS! ! ! Badly... Smooth and beautiful ROM, but I have to have data, and I have to the other make a call. So it was a no go for these roms. I'm thinking that we will just have to wait for source kernel to evolve. I have no doubt that these two roms will be the best soon.

CM9 Alpha 6 has some weird Data LOS but I assure you was not in Alpha 5 if that was your issue (Alpha 5 doesnt have recovery). Nightly 7-11 seemed to have been fine on that issue. If battery life was an issue the last Nightly that was FF11 kernel based (6-29?) is great as well as having a safe recovery baked in.
Just a thought on CM9 until the next release. Its my daily and I am never going back.
So I guess the point was, or is, you suffered los.. . Just curious..

I really tried to like cm 9 but with the data loss it was just a no go. I originally went with the 712 build, quickly realized that was a bad idea and went with the 711 build. after a full wipe I still had data loss. if I can get data work properly on that that would be my favorite rom!

Yeah ive been having a weird issue with fall backs on 7-12 but 7-11 seemed fine. Either way there are those people having LOS issues altogether while the rest of us are fine. But Alpha 6 brought an issue to alot of people where it would just not have Data and voice was fine. Whatever nightly I was on before Alpha 6 was good as well.

Well for cm9 los completely after 2 hours on the rom. Nothing installed our altered in anyway. Blue kuban, was great except i lost wifi after the phone sat for any length of time. But was an easy fix, toggle wifi off then on. Blue kuban was the best by far... Aokp los just like cm9 wifi &3g
I'm not sure what the triggers are! But in cm 9 and a o k p I could only get data back by restarting and even then it will come back sometimes.

While I don't see anything wrong with creating a thread about your issues, I feel it would have been more productive to have it in the Q&A section. Asking if others had the same findings as you and what they might have done to resolve them seems like a better way. While I don't think you meant it to come across this way, it could be read by some that those roms you listed have problems that many many other folks are just not seeing. The fact that your seeing similar issues across so many options, maybe some basic troubleshooting questions needs to be asked.
What changed? Answered
When did it start? Answered
When is it NOT happening to you? Answered
When is it NOT happening to others? Still outstanding. So is it that others are less sensitive to the phenomenon? Is it geographical? Is it some external factor like a common app you use or a specific setting or procedure you follow when setting up your phone? Are you using the FF18 modem for all these builds you tried? Etc. Etc.
I am not discounting your findings or saying your wrong at all, just suggesting you indict the phenomenon and not the rom until everything else is ruled out. I for one have been running ICS leaks since April and have only seen LOS to be a problem specific to one early leak and the fd02 modem. And even then I can't prove it was the modem.

So far the most stable JB ROM is the CM10 nightly from 8/21. I've used all sorts of ROMs including every release of CM10 since 8/8 and while every other ROM/build i tried had many bugs, the 8/21 nightly with the lean kernel and HW Overlays disabled has been absolutely flawless for me. All my apps are working, no reboots, no screen flickering, no audio issues, no notification LED hiccups, and blazing fast.
I'm sure the 8/23 nightly is just as stable but I'm content enough with my current setup that I don't plan on flashing again until a fully stable RC is available.

I've been pretty amazed lately at how many people require Netflix on their phones. I think the longest video I've watched on any phone is a 7 minute Youtube video...
I watched shows on Netflix while sitting in bed next to my kid waiting for her to fall asleep. I'd prefer watching ion my 55" lcd instead, but it's so convenience on the phone. Plus our S3 has an awesome screen for watching Netflix.

CM10 Stable or Nightly

I am currently running the 2012-11-13 CM10.0.0 "Stable". What are your thoughts on if I should flash the latest nightly?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I thought about trying that. I wanted to try it because I don't want to deal with anymore bugs or problems than I have to. How is it working for you? Are you just getting bored and wanting to try something else? I did AOKP by Task and as often as that is updated I wanted to go to something that I didn't have to flash and rearrange so often.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
You really don't 't have to flash that often. If you find one that catches your fancy, grab it and flash away. If it causes problems, revert back/if you like it keep it.
I just flashed the cm10.1 & other than the bluetooth issue it is pretty good & I will most likely stick with it till it is fixed. Before that I was on the cm10.12/16 build as I was reasonably happy with it.

I prefer sticking to the Stable version. The Nightly literally change every night, so unless you're tolerable of all the changes and the bugs, don't take the jump.

A2DP is broken. Streaming audio sounds like crap.
If you aren't too worried about the Bluetooth weirdness, which is pretty unpredictable, then CM10.1 nightlies work pretty well now that they've fixed the data issues the first few builds had. in thinking about going back since its one of the only ROMs with a somewhat reliable 4.2.1 experience at this point, but I like the customization in ParanoidKANGdroid too much

I am going to wait on CM10.1 and stay with the CM10.0.0 Stable version. It's great and the only issues are no bass when streaming music through bluetooth and the very rare random reboot.
After reading some of your replies I am tempted to give AOKP a second try. Is there a version of AOKP comparable to CM10.0.0 "Stable" that I should flash? Or just the latest version?

[Discussion] Which ROM do you use on E980

I Was Wondering If You share which ROM are you using on your E980.
Message from the Moderator:
Share your thoughts about why do you like it or how long you have been using it.
DON'T use this thread to report bugs
DON'T write down your hatred about any ROM as one has put a lot of hard work to make it
DON'T bring up the topic of "Best ROM" depending on the user feedback.

Personally I enjoy the Carbon ROM.

I am pretty fond of the PACman ROM, but I have yet to play around with it a lot. I'll get back to you on it soon.

This phone is actually very capable, I like it a lot.
Also I've noticed the 4.4 builds of Carbon do not support everything (like developer settings) like the 4.3 builds do. I stick away from KK until it has all the features JB does plus that.
I'm not sure about PACman yet. But it looks really nice I'm really excited to give it a try.
Hope this helps. Also shayneflashindaily said it best. It's really user preference. But if you want a ROM to try I recommend the two above me.

Just a little update if you'd still like to know:
I found PACman to be a little TOO feature filled. It feels like some of the things step on eachother's toes. Also I found some performance dips and bugs like if you press home your apps and widgets do not show up until you open and close your app page. Carbon runs decent with some hiccups. I used this here kernel to speed it up. Make sure you have your backups to restore if flashing the kernel doesn't work out for you.

I have actually found it to be faster with the kernel.
Only a few hiccups I'm looking to find ways to eliminate entirely. I'll give you an update if you decide to use it and would like to know more

Update: I soft bricked my phone. It's in bootloop. Using Carbon and that kernel when I restarted it to test Kernel Same Page Method or something like that as it loaded to the lock screen I put the charger in. It stopped and got stuck in bootloop. I am now stuck in recovery and about to fix it. Don't use KSM if you use my settings. Lol.
Ksm?

I am looking for the same answer. Which ROM to use for E980.
Fast, Decent Battery Life, nightly builds, and not too many serious bugs (As few as possible), least likely to brick, simple to install.
Thanks.
