[Q] How to force 2G/EDGE - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So as the title says, how? Running FreeGS3 which is based off of stock. I know AOSP has this option but stock doesn't.
Does anyone know the hidden dialer code to get to the network settings and change to EDGE? Much appreciated.

You can switch to gsm only in settings. That forces 2g only as well

Not in stock, or FreeGS3 either. I know in AOSP ROMs you can.

Off topic.. but I'm curios to know why exactly you want to force edge connection??

Because sometimes I'm in areas with barely any 3G/4G coverage, and having the radio switch between EDGE and 3G constantly drains battery, so having high constant EDGE signal is helpful.

Also using edge/2G signal does prolong your battery.

I don't know man, I can't find it. And I've looked many times. Dialer code is only way I've found to do it without a 3rd party app.
Not too big a deal though, as long as there's some way to do it.

[Abandoned] Center Clock & Fast Glow SoftKeys

This does exactly as the title states. It will also swap positions of the menu and back keys. However there are some bugs, for example the status bar will disappear on boot and when applying themes until you force a notification. For instance taking a screenshot will bring it back. This is caused by adding a background to the ticker text so it doesnt overlap the clock. Im currently looking for a solution so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
I personally run MIUI.us builds and have a LTE GNex but I believe this should work on any build regardless of LTE/GSM, as long as you are on the latest build (2.4.6). However please back up before flashing because I have no way of testing on a GSM phone.

I think things are a little different in ICS, and I think all that app does is creat another ERI.xml so thats why you get the double carrier. I'll do some digging and asking to see if I can get it removed.

Well you can always decompile framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk, enable the nav bar by yourself. Look up a guide on decompiling with apk multi tool. Took me a day to learn (yesterday )
Google Now, well, look at the Google Now for ICS project in Android/Themes and Apps on XDA.

My Nostalgia ROM. But - you will have to tweak it, like downloading Google Now. As for NavBar - r u insane? U want to designate piece of your precious screen to useless buttons?
Just take a rom you like and decompile framework-res, then enable the nav bar in an xml file. Its super simple.

And it won't work on 4.2 (unless its patched already ) because it will break the widgets on lock screen

Thanks for the reply Task, would be an awesome addition to 4.2.1. I figure it would be a bit more complicated with the new lockscreen.
