MOD EDIT: Modified Dropbox apks are not allowed on XDA!
This will probably get you banned from xda and dropbox will find out and block your account drom any promotion (legal) in the future...

This will not get him banned. There were(still are) similar mods on xda for other file hosting services. We all have a hox, and deserve at least the 25gb storage space as promised from HTC.
We'll have to see what happens with this.

And this is the problem and the reason why I'll close this thread. We don't tolerate any modified Dropbox apks which give you free space which you might not be allowed to have.

I don't think anyone will answer about where to get apps for free but your first step is to root. See sfhub's "Autoroot" thread. If you use the word "jailbreak " over here, you wont get much help. There is alot of IHate around here. :sly:

Download this app called FDroid: http://f-droid.org/FDroid.apk
Once installed it will list all applications in the repository that are Free & Open Sourced – for example, released under a GPL or Apache license.
If your looking for a specific paid app on the Market for free you won't find any help here. However, FDroid can possibly help you find free alternatives.

Hey I stumbled across this piece of gold and had to share.
Box.com has a new promotion going on. You log into Box from ANY android device (tablet or phone) and your account (preexisting or new) is upgraded to 50gig.
For my buddies that have iPhone i just let them log in from my phone and bam!
"Congratulations, Your account has be upgraded to 50Gig"
The offer ends March 23 btw.
Please let me know if this post should be elsewhere.
Wish it had a free syncing option for the PC....

Agreed. That is definitely a weak point and is only part of a business/enterprise account.
If you download Box's SimpleShare (win and mac) you can just drag and drop files to your "Box". One cool thing is that when you drag a file into it the URL is copied to your clipboard so you can just paste it say on xda to share. Has video capture with auto upload too.
Also, I'm not sure how well it works but I've read on other posts that you can stream your music with ES File manager from your "Box".
do you have to log in from the app or browser?
Didn't get my 50 gigs. Oh well this would help with ROM hosting.

...If you have a preexisting Box account and have already used a promotion of some sort then you will not get it. Just create a new account with box.net via the browser then log back in to the app or create a new account from within the app.
This should work for you. I don't know if there are any weird country restrictions...?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if there is a way to buy an app from Google Play but not download it yet?
The reason is I would like to take advantage of the $0.25c deal for The Dark Knight Rises on Google Play but I am not around wifi yet and don't have 1.8gb free on my SD.
So I would like to purchase the app but install it later, any ideas?
Thank you in advance
Its easy
Just Buy the App and as soon as the Download start, stop it.
So you Buy the App but not Downlad them.
duh! now I feel stupid lol
Thanks mate!!

The quoted portion of fatjivi's post, which you are likely referring to, was edited out. The quote contained the original illegal post.
Anyway, didn't the Play Store app used to have an option to only DL files over a certain threshold while connected to WiFi? I only see the option to restrict *all* downloads to WiFi.

I'm not sure of that setting but thank's for the heads up, I'll check it out
I got around it by just buying the app and clicking download but canceling the download straight away.

That is a Warez site and strictly against \XDA rules to post about Warez .
Could be one of the reasons nothing works on your phone that you downloaded Malware from such sites .

Why is it warez? You do know warez concerns pirated content? Ubuntu is a free linux distribution and can be dustributed by third party websites or modified by anyone.
Also you cannot say the website is a warez website, as it hosts third party content, both legal and (maybe) illegal.
Anything you say must be proved, you must prove i am posting about illegal contents.
Also it is not true nothing works on my phone, i've encountered a couple of bugs but they are more probably app problems than my own stuff...

Not every torrent is illegal. Check the file he is downloading. Yes. Open source linux. Torrent and peer-to-peer networks are fast ways to download also legal content, such as linux distros and android roms. So, downloading linux isn't warez.
Though, I understand your point, many of the files in those serves are illegal, but not all.

@jjegan
Anyone browsing the web for minimum a year would know this
.let alone internet veterans...
If the website has not been shutdown that means even the government hasn't been able to prove it warez site. if everyone reasoned like you they would say mediafire and all other file sharing sites (youtube, may i remind you, is a VERY good warez search engine, haven't you got something to say against it) are illegal. But that would mean people would be forbidden to post stuff that is hosted on mediafire...even if mediafire DOES delete all warez content as soon as notified (and youtube does not).
Also in this post the matter is more "torcache" than website, as it is torcache handing out the file.

I didnt mention earlier i tried utorrent also (which is the same as bittorrent, just like for pc they have that kinda weird advertisement policy and they produce the same product only with 2 different icons and names) but it's got the same problem.
Does everyone else have problems loading that torrent onto their torrent apps? I just need someone to try....possibli living in the usa but any other country is fine i guess

I use ttorrent pro but there is a lite version in the play store. Never had any problems with that and its pretty fast to be honest.
But of course even though the file your downloading may not contain viruses and malware, other files on the same servers may do so could be past around to even the more safer files.
I would advice using some sort of mobile internet security just to be safe mate

That site you posted has multiple illegal copies of paid for apps and movies .
By any definition that is Warez and any user can open the site you posted and start downloading illegal content .You are posting a link to a warez site don't mind your link you are having trouble with .
Removing the site as above would have cleared the problem without it needing to be reported ..
I repeat with the number of problems you are posting having i suspect something wrong .

Listen, jj dude, i told ya before....
first of all is a websites that acts.like a search engine for posts other users put up, and redirects users to those links.
Second of all with what you're saying you would ban youtube as well from this forum's possible arguments.
For anyone right now can go to youtube and find the latest photoshop crack (along with VERY detailed instructions) or many many many other cracked games and stuff....but it doesnt host the files directly, just like 1337x, it just points the user to those files. Only difference is 1337x does not have any videos to help piracy out and it redirects users to urls through some big a** buttons, while youtube just uses underlined urls in descriptions.
Also, for jj dude's joy, i scanned my phone with avast avg and doctor web, they only found non-virus adware (avast found nothing), so it's safe to assume my phone is clean (just like i said yesterday).
I wanna thank nick fury for his answer, i must understand that most probably torcache servers in italy or somewhere near (maybe france or germany) are in someway corrupted.
As torrents from other sites work just fine for me, except torcache.

Hey no problem mate, I hope you got it all sorted now.
Issue solved thread closed.
As the development is lifting off, it is immediately apparent to me that we need to find a solid hosting platform for our Devs. There have been a couple of ROMs already put out there that I have not been able to download due to an extremely slow rate. (30 - 80 kb/s)
I am posting here before spending my own cash on a solution. Is there anyone on this device who can offer file hosting that will give us reliable and speedy downloads?
Depositfiles
You can use service of depositfiles or depositstorage for reliable file hosting.

Those hosts still have slow speeds for guests downloading. There is also wait times I do believe.
I have already remedied this with a MediaFire Business account. If anyone would like to see a mirror of something... just contact me via PM.
You can try : www.shiftshared.com
Free Unlimited File Hosting
try filestreamers.com unlimited free file hosting, file sharing, and password protection
Do Mega. No payments. Always fast. No wait....
