Hello,
I am just starting with all romes and stuff.
I hope i am posting in the right place.
I got my ATT Samsung galaxy s3 a few days ago:
1. I have downloaded CWM6.0.1.2 on it with oding pulled the battery and went to recovery.
2. then installed CM10 stable (cm-10.0.0-d2att).
3.then installed gapps-ics-20120317-signed.
4. today i found this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965290&highlight=gapp and installed the Gapps from here according to the post (http://d-h.st/sPL , which is New ZIP by garner (JB-4.2-Gapps-signed.zip) (11/11/2012).
Now I have a problem:
After those steps. when ever I press the home button I receive a message "complete action using" options are LAUNCHER or TREBUCHET and then "always or just once"
If I choose TREBUCHET I receive my phone and my setting as usual.
If I choose LAUNCHER I receive a new phone as if I installed it again with the JB-4.2-Gapps-signed.zip
a few questions:
1. does anybody know what to do and how to resolve this?
2. which Gapp works with CM10?
3.I repeated from above, steps 2 and 4 hoping install ROM and gapps , and the same happens again (I have wiped everything in CWM). how can I whip or delete or format the phone to default so I can repeat the process again? (I think when I wipe in CWM and install the CM10 again some data remains like photos or I had a problem where i did not have camera on my phone i resolved it by installing the gallery2.apk from CM10 zip - that added me camera icon and gallery icon in the phone which i did not have before and now after every re installation of the ROM they are still there) so how can I start the process from beginning so all will be wiped ?
Thank you hope you can help me....

if u install CM10 alias Android 4.1.* than u don't can install that Gapps pack, it is for CM10.1 alias Android 4.2.1.
if u are safe in Android and what normal should be in ur Android /system partition, u can delete all apps from AROMA Filemanager.
but the safest way is u start from begin. go into cwm and do a factory reset. this erase all data. after that use the latest Gapps from goo.im for Android 4.1.*
Can you point me to gapp that is for CM10?
and also where can i find CM10.1 and his Gapps?

I think i can kinda help you
1.
Trebuchet and launcher are just different launchers for your phone, they provide you with different user interfaces. If trebuchet is the one that has all your settings then you can select that and select 'always' so it will autmatically do that when you press the home button. If you want to change it later you can always go to settings>applications>whatever launcher you are using>clear app defaults
2.
I'm not sure, maybe check back on the original cm10 thread and see what that says regarding GAPPS but I think you can also flash this package. Also, i believe CM10 is a jelly bean based rom so you have to flash the jellybean GAPPS package not the ics one
3.
Go to settings>storage>format sd card to wipe your external sd card
Then go to settings then backup and reset and uncheck 'Automatic Restore' and 'Backup my data' This will prevent your previous apps from re-installing. Then press Factory data reset to clear all data. After that go to CWM and wipe cache, dalvik cache, and factory data reset to completely wipe everything on your phone. After that power off and go into download mode and reflash your stock firmware.
Hope all this helps
Additional advice: try flashing a stock based custom rom, those tend to be less buggy than original roms

it's not a problem, if Android had more than one launcher installed u had to choose which launcher u want to use.
Hi @ckpv5 i loved ur dev since mySense RC2.0 but since RC3.0 i got damned default cleaner when reboot that's make my workspace turned into dizzy like:
1/ Rename app: like "Google map" --> "Goo....ap", "Temple Run 2" ---->"Temp ... un 2"
2/ Some game save lost ....damn
3/ Most add-on launcher ----> error
Plz tell me how to disable or remove this feature ...thanks alot :good:
There is no auto-cleaner in the ROM.. what is auto-cleaner btw ?
What is that item 3/ Most add-on launcher ? What launcher that you are talking about ?
This usually happens due to cache too full... boot to recovery and do wipe cache and wipe dalvik-cache.
Or remove the zipalign script from system/etc/init.d. The script could not run properly when your cache is too full or your data partition almost full

That's the stock Power menu made by HTC.
Back to the previous post, I believe your problem is due to cache partition is almost full or data partition almost full where the zipalign could not run properly.
Wipe your cache & dalvik-cache in recovery and see how it goes.
If the problem still there, remove zipalign script from system/etc/init.d
Or make a FULL wipe installation with no data restoring from TB or any backup program.

Zip error you would not be able to install the ROM.
Anyway, everything is provided here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974415
And I can't answer anymore until you do what I suggest earlier.
and now you have more than 10 post, anything you can post in the thread, many will help you I believe.

as your suggest i've up RC3.0 at 5th post as i said, i'm your fan and i love your dev... tested alot rom and now back to mySense cuz this is the best rom i've using.
1/Wipe system/factory reset
2/Wipe Cache
3/Format System
4/Wipe dalvik cache
5/"Or make a FULL wipe installation with no data restoring" ofc i choose for best installer since RC2.0
Then up RC3.0 in 10mins and take 3 pics.
And that Power Menu is HTC Stock Power Menu... as what I have for my One X... see attached, they are same.
So you installed again without wipe data.... how much data space that you have now ?
Download quick system info from Play Store, it will tell you more details on your storage... see mine in the attached screenshot.
Okay i've downloaded new zip RC3.0 if it cant be done i'm quit T_T.
Here
So... after full wipe install without data restoring, still the same problem ?
wait 10 mins i'll up 1 more time with new zip....
Yes I've tested 2 choice:
install w/out wipe --->fail
perform a full wipe ---->fail
---> same problem ... damn... ima quit, may be i should change mySense FX9.0 ... dunno if it's works.
Ah can u show me how to remove this (pic) feature? this feature appearance in FX9.0?

That's the standard feature on all newer HTC base. We have that on DX, One X, One S and more I guess. because there is also new feature where you can choose for the display & recent app button. Choose option 2 and 3 will remove that 3 dots. You need to read more in my ROM thread.
See : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38306252&postcount=2116
So any further question, post it in my thread... no more support here.
One last question is which kernel that you have now ?

2. Download Gapps from same link above
2.5 Download Underwear Kernel from same link above (then drop it all in root of phone)
3.Do a Nandroid backup (I think i already did this in the rom manager app. Do i have to do it again by going into recovery mode? Or is it just two ways of doing the same thing?)

6.wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache,
7.go to mounts & storage and format system.

This is the best help I could find for backing up the IMEI, but I've NEVER had an issue with it and I flash ROMs all of the time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915
1.First off, it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684 and yes. That is correct.
2. Correct
2.5 You don't need to, it is already packed inside the ROM.
3. I always do a Nandroid within Recovery. I didn't know you could do it anywhere else.
4.Yes
5.Yes
6. Yes
7.Yes
8.Yes
9. No, Kernel is already flashed from inside the ROM package.
10.Yes
11.Yes
12. No
Here are my steps. First I am rooted on 4.0.4. Then I download goomanager from the android market. Open goo and hit the menu button and install open recovery script. This will install twrp recovery. Then I reboot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset and clear cache. Next I make a full back up in twrp. After that I reboot the phone and back up the imei with nv backup and peoples army method. I did both because im paranoid. Copy your files to your storage. Next I go back into twrp and wipe again, flash the latest work from task. The underwear kernal is included. Last flash gapps. Reboot and feel pimp!

before you get started, in Rom Manager, update your recovery to the latest version if you have not already done so. back up your IMEI then proceed. cheers
Thanks for your help. Final Question: I noticed that Tibu has a option to turn all of my backed up apps into a update.zip. Can i just do that and use it to restore my apps in the recovery menu once im done? Or do i have to do it the long way through the Tibu app?
Or should i do it another way?

you can use the paid tibu to batch backup your apps in a flashable zip, yes.
do NOT include system apps/data in this backup. you will only have problems if you do.
I don't recommend that. Last time I tried that, it corrupted the app data, so I had to restore the normal way with TiBu. It might be better now, but just the issues I have ran into.
Okay, everything worked great! I only have three problems. First one is my notification bar at the top of my phone is clear. Not 20% tranceparency but 100%. Is there a way to get the black bar back? Also, How do screenshots work? And is there a way for enable landscape mode on the home screens?

i dont know about your notification bar. maybe someone running tasks 4.2.2 can weigh in.
to take a screenshot, hold vol down + power buttons together
unless task has landscape mode built into the ROM control settings, you'll have to use a launcher like Nova to enable that

Notification bar might need a reboot to take effect once you set it to 100%. Also, try setting it to 0% and back to 100%.
Nova is the main launcher with Task's AOKP, go through the settings if you want your homescreen in landscape. Also, you can just use the auto-rotate feature (in the pulldown menu).

To get the black bar back at all times go into settings->ROM Control-> General UI->Transparency settings. Uncheck "Match lockscreen alpha" and turn them both to 100%. This will give you a black status bar and will stay consistent.
With the screenshots, voldown/power button. Sometimes you have to hold them for like 1.5 seconds to get it to work.

1. Backup all your data, contacts, apps, SMS - whatever you need. Use Titanium Backup for apps.
Phone memory will be lost, everything on SDcard will stay.
2. Unlock your bootloader - unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com
3. Download the CM10 ROM for anzu.
4. Extract the kernel from inside the .zip file (kernel is in .img format). If you wish to use another kernel, for example nAa 3.0.8 or Fusion, then find them from Development section and download them.
5. Install the kernel via fastboot. Search for more info on this.
6. Enter the Recovery. Make sure phone is turned off, then turn it on, when kernel bootlogo appears, start clicking Volume Down button until a menu appears. Once there, use volume, home and back buttons to navigate.
7. Do a full nandroid backup, choose Backup and Restore and Backup. This will save your whole ROM and data, so you can restore your phone to that state later.
8. Choose Wipe Data/factory reset option to clear tracks of old ROM. You don't need to do anything else, otherwise you just waste time.
9. For CM ROMs, you must not format /system, if you find a guide that says it. Otherwise you get problems.
10. Then, back to main menu of the Recovery, choose install zip from sdcard, choose the zip file from sdcard and install it.
11. Once done, reboot your phone and let it boot.
Some people recommend to wipe cache, dalvik cache, battery stats etc. Factory reset already removes them so you do not need to do these again.

Did you follow the steps properly?
For CM10.1, use included kernel boot img in zip file.

Did you install the correct version for your phone? That is, did you install the one for Arc/anzu(codename for Arc)?
Thanx Members..
Yes I did followed the steps .
I used the kernel from the zip file (boot.img). I also skipped point 7.
try updated kernel with a fresh install.
I have a galaxy grand duos i9082 .. On 4.22 stock rom with no custom kernel but with cwm installed(flashed cwm)
Im on 4.22 and is going reallyy slow and lags when i click on gallery and i have to keep exiting apps or the phone will freeze or run very slow.
People are saying if you factory reset..It seems to run normal again .. But i recently flashed my phone and it is now rooted and now i found out if you factory reset it .. that it will go normal speed without lags and stuff. Now what i wanna do is factory reset and i dont want to lose my apps, pictures, contacts or data .. i heard of something called titanium back up and other apps .. Im really a noob and dont know how to use it .
So im kinda new to this thing and really dont wanna mess up my phone. So can anyone tell me .. very detailed or by step by step on how to factory rest a flashed phone (galaxy grand i9082) and get back all your data. So after that i can root it again (which i know how to do)
Please! It would really help me .. And id be happy
Thanks
If you have installed cwm recovery then boot in to it and wipe data/ factory reset and reboot...nothing will go wrong just do it and see.

Actually if he wipes data/factory reset, he will loose all his apps and their data along with his contacts. But his images and other data on the sd card and extSD will remain safe
Easiest way to root would be, take the recovery .tar file from this thread according to your firmware (4.1.2 or 4.2.2) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315529
And follow this step-by-step guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46395577&postcount=19
There are three other guides available in General Section explaining the rooting process along with few videos on youtube, so those can be use for reference.
After you are rooted, you can download an app like SuperBackup Pro (more easy to use for beginners than Titanium Backup)
The app is pretty straight forward and easy to use, but if you still run into problems, post your problem here again

Install the application I mentioned above, it will require root access. Use it to manually backup your contacts, calender, apps all you want.
Once you are done, boot into your custom recovery, select Wipe data/factory reset, it will ask for confirmation, so select Yes.
Then Wipe cache the same way.
After both the things are done, Go to Advanced option, clear Dalvik Cache.
If you want to restore your root access at this point, Select Install Zip and select the flashable SuperSU.zip you already have.
Then, press Back key, and select Reboot System.
The initial boot will take some time, but your phone will be good as new
To restore your apps, download Super Backup again, and you can restore each application, contacts, messages.
Side note, for Whatsapp to backup your most recent conversations, Open whatsapp, go to settings>chat settings>Backup. This will be stored in you internal memory/whatsapp/databases folder. once you reinstall whatsapp, it will ask you for a restore.
