Failing to flash 4.1.A.0.562 FW on my LT15i... - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've been trying to root my Arc for a while now.
Tried downgrading to GB, rooting and upgrading back. Didn't work.
Tried flashing a 4.1.A.0.562 FW, using 3 different files: LT15i 4.1.A.0.562.ftf - Flashtool failed at the start.
LT18 4.1.A.0.562 Generic & Nordic - Both caused my Arc to stuck on Sony screen, or loop.
I figured I might need a proper 4.1.A.0.562.ftf for LT15i, but can't seem to find any.
Any help?

I flashed the .562 LT15i on my LT18i make sure you are on ICS and Wipe do not exclude your Kernel. Use the flash tool tick Wipe Data, Wipe Cache and leave the rest untouched. Use No Final verification

What do you mean by "use no final verification"? How do I do that?

Which version of Flashtool are you using?

Latest version.
can anyone screenshot how my settings should look like?
Oh and the file I'm using is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590121
I keep getting the following error:
18/056/2012 18:56:29 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_STATIC="SIN_HEAD_VER";ERR_DYNAMIC="Failed to verify sin header";

See attached screenshot...

Thanks. Finally managed to root it.
Downloaded a Lt18 4.1.A.0.562 UK firmware. Flashed it with the settings like you described, then rooted with DoomLord's rooting toolkit.

[Q] tutorial? r800i firmware flashtool 2.3.4??

Is there a tutorial to flash the xperia play r800i to generic 2.3.4?? im currently on a stock play using firmware 4.0.A.2.368 and looking to upgrade to the new 2.3.4 02 uk firmware but it says use flashtool.. which flashtool.. do i need unlocked bootloader? root?? im lost and search everwhere all day long to figure it out lol.. probably looking in the wrong places but it is now getting irritating!
Thanks in advance to any of you willing to answer
You do not need neither root nor an unlocked bootloader to use flashtool.
Get flashtool from here (make sure to use 0.2.9.1 beta):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10738287&postcount=1
Get newest FW here (4.0.1.A.0.283):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17708233&postcount=1
When flashtool is downloaded just extract it to your desktop on your pc. Then extract your downloaded FW and put it in the folder named 'firmware' that came with the flashtool download. Then install ggsetup.exe that also comes with the flashtool download (it's a driver package).
Then hit the x10FlashTool.exe. A window will open. Press flash. Another window will open. Choose your firmware. Here you can choose to tick the 'wipe data' box. If you do you'll loose al apps and data stored on your phone. If you don't the apps and data will stay. In the latter case you might run into issues as FC'ing of apps and such, but not sure as people has done this without issues. It's recomended to wipe data but not a must, it's up to you. I would do it but then again I'm also rooted and can restore easily after every flash.
Anyway either way you choose you then press ok and just follow instructions shown on screen.
Remember after flashing and booting (wich can take some time) to enable debugging and unknown sources.

The answer is yes, but you can skip flashing 4.0.A.2.368 and go straight to 4.0.1.A.0.283 - 2.3.4
Regards Dousan...
currently i`m on 2.3.3 Firmware(the xLOUD Update) with unlocked bootloader and doomlord kernel v3.now i want to flash the latest firmware(2.3.4).whats the best way,i read so many threads here and to be honest,i don`t have a clue how i do it best and i don`t want to brick my phone.
so what`s the best way to get to 2.3.4(2.3.3 is draining battery like crazy,i had 45% battery drain to "mobile standby",can`t stand it anymore,i`m losing 10% battery per hour and i`m doing nothing with the phone,it`s simply in standby,so i want the new firmware)
1)simple flashing 2.3.4 with flashtool?
2)must i relock the bootloader before? can i do this with the doomlord kernel in general?(unlock bl,flash doomlord kernel, relock? would be good to know, than i just would relock the bootloader)
3)if i can flash it with flashtool is the bootloader locked again after flashing?
4)why exactly flashtool, can`t i simply flash with wotan server?
@orangesunshine the easiest way is this (imo):
1. Do a backup of phone apps/data. (Titanium backup/my backup root etc.).
2. Flash 4.0.1.A.0.283 with flashtool. (works on locked and unlocked bootloaders (won't brick it with an unlocked BL).
3. Boot CWM (only boot not flash).
4. Flash rootxperia.zip in CWM.
5. Boot phone and restore from the backup you made and enjoy root.
This will leave you with stock kernel and root.
When doomlord releases his kernel for the newest build (4.0.1.A.0.283) you could just flash that instead of doing step 3 and 4 (afiak it's still in testing phase).
Take a look at this post for links and further details:

Update - unbricked using SEUS tool..
Thanks for making that clear mate, Its kinda hard to follow what the hell is going on with the firmwares for xplay.. theres loads of different ones knocking about, talking about unlocked bootloaders, roots.. etc... Coming from all sorts of differnt android devices which i rooted it seems like a heck of alot of work just to get root..
Ive never had the bootloader unlocked, im using the 2.3.4 firmware, I want to root it, but.. this is where i got confused.. the "how to retain root" posts tell u basically how to "retain" root... if i never had root to begin with is it the exact same procedure?
Got me very baffled lol

If you want root and your on build 2.3.4 you'll need to downgrade to a FW/gingerbread build that has a loophole that makes it possible to use an app like gingerbreak or similar to root your phone through that loophole. That got patched in builds higher than 2.3.2 and therefor you need to downgrade and then root. The opdate done via OTA will only opdate part of the FW and won't touch/overwrite the place where root is placed (afaik). So that's why OTA work and doing it via pc companion/SEUS/flashtool won't cuz these ways you flash the whole FW and erease/overwrite all files on the phone.
You could also choose to unlock your bootloader and then boot CWM (clockworkmod) and when booted in that flash a .zip file that roots your phone.

flashtool 4.0.2.A.0.62 root

Can the new flashtools root 4.0.2.A.0.62 for arcs with locked bootloaders? Already upgraded once to find out i couldn't root it. Has anyone done this successfully with a locked bootloader as I don;t fancy experimenting again.
yes mate flash the old kernel from the .58 or .42 or .283 FW by excluding baseband & system in flashtool b4 flashing after that root as normal with zergRush..

Thats what i did last time i experimented and it didnt work. i installed 62 then flashed the 42 kernel with flashtool. But zerg wouldnt root it. But i flashed the kernel only. in one of the 62 threads there were links to getting it rooted with locked bootloaders. This went to a guide with nothing about locked bootloaders in it, only unlocked.
somewhere here in the forums is a thread about CWM for locked bootloaders, with that you CANNOT flash custom kernels, but old kernels in zip format, hang on i'll get you the zip + the link for the locked BL CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390771 this is the link for CWM: follow these instructions for the arc : 1.Run install-cwm?.cmd
install-cwm1.cmd for Xperia Arc / Neo / PLAY
2.Enable USB Debugging on device
3.Connect your device using usb data cable
4.Follow on screen instruction
and here's the kernel it's the .283 kernel
it wasn't custom, it was the stock kernel from .42 flashed to .62 and zerg refused to root it. Although apparently this worked on previous versions as i tried flashing the .42 kernel over onto .62 as a tip from one of the other members on here. but I couldn't get it rooted in the end and gave up and went back to .58.
flash that kernel via CWM
so if done with cwm mod it should work then? Whats the difference flashing the kernel with cwm as opposed to flashtool? Would have thought it be the same.
dont know the difference, but this one worked for me
cheers ill give it a go.
no problem feel free to contact me via PM if you still have problems

I have the exact same problem as you. Did you manage to accomplish anything? If yes would it be easy for you to explain to me the exact steps? If not is it possible to give me the address or send me the .58 firmware for arcs (the ftf file). I wasn't able to find it somewhere. Thanks!
upgraded to .62 then tried to install cwm but it wouldn't let me as the phone needs root permission to be able to install it. So how did you deal with this? I also flashed the .283 kernel with flash tools after updating to .62 and zerg again failed to root the device.

Ok, I'll give it a try.
Before I go back to .58, is there any rumour if Flashtool is going to support rooting on .62 firmware soon?

Nope... the zergRush exploit has been patched on .62 fw and there wont be another exploit on Gingerbread, since we're going to ICS.
is there anyway to root 62 without unlocking our bootloaders or is it nay to impossible?
So far I wasn't able to find a way, so I think I'll just go back to .58 or .42 and root, waiting for the official ICS.

[Q] Bootloop on LT15i

My LT15i got upgraded to .62 version via OTA and I wanted to downgrade it to .42 to root it safely and easily. Something didn't work out and after flashing the downgrade my phone got bootlooped. I downloaded different official ROMs to go back to, but I can't flash them

Any ideas what can I do? I didn't use fastboot since I'm not sure what should I do with it, just flashtool.
Just keep flashing it or use Update Service to repair it.
There are dozens of generic ROMs.
e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491066
Use Flashtool repeatedly.. doesn't always work the first time around..
Does the LED indicator change after a while of being plugged in in flash mode? Check this, as I kept having the same issue. I just kept yanking the cable out and plugging it back in and repeating the procedure over and over until it fianlly flashed the kernel for me.
Was using arcknight kernel when i got stuck in bootloop, flashed to stock kernel and repaired over SEUS before unlocking BL and rooting once again using zergrush
Follow these steps.
pre requisites - Rooted/Bootloader unlocked.
1. Download the Flash tool.
2. Download the generic global rom - LT15i 4.0.2.A.0.42 (.ftf) [Search in the forum]
3. Flash the ftf using flash tool. (google how to flash using flash tool. There are numerous threads)
4. Once you successfully installed .42 firmware. [Using flashtool root the mobile using zergrush method. if u want]
5. Install busybox using flash tool.
6. Install x-parts from play store to install the CWM.
That's it.
Let me know if u have any problems.

The problem is, I used to have root and CWM installed, but now I can't enter it, because when I flash the ROM, it gets stuck in certain moment. I'm stuck somewhere between 3 and 4 point, where my flashtool doesn't correctly flash the ROM onto my Lt15i. From this bootloop I can't reach CWM or normal system to enter the google play or something.
I'll keep on trying flashing it, I'll also try to flash it from another computer
Is it possible that flashtool is being blocked by certain application like, I don't know, PC companion?
Additionally, I can't go back to the stock ROM via PC companion or SEUS, because when I'm in flashmode and phone is ready to flash, the PC companion says that my phone is already upgraded and there are no new updates to it, so it can't be upgraded, even tho there is some old flashed ROM inside ( I think PC companion reads the old ROM, that I used to have before bootloop, I believe it was the 4.0~~~~.62 version)

[Q] arc updates

hI,
i m using xperia arc , 4.0.4 build number 4.1.b.0.431 rooted. when i try to update to version 4.1.b.0.587 through OTA, i m getting the error "could not install"
so please guide me to get updated to that.
thanks in advance.
Have you installed any mods, or CWM?
That might prevent you from updating OTA. You can root 587 directly though by doing the sane process as 431.
Sent from my LT15a using xda-developers app
Prerequisites:
- Instert .587 fw in Flashtool/firmwares
- Insert .431 and .587 kernel in Flashtool/firmwares
1. Open flashtool. Press the thunderbolt / scar or whatever it is. Select firmware .587.
2. When it is prepared, power off ur phone. Press back key and connect it. Flash it.
3. When the device has rebooted, do the same but flashing the 431 kernel
4. Root the phone with DoomLord toolkit
5. Flash the .587 kernel by the same method
U will have rooted 587
I don't know if there is any newer method, since I have ul bootloader and I root by flashing kernels
Hope it is useful for u
If your BL is unlocked
you must lock it again.:fingers-crossed:

6.1.A.2.55 Root & Flash Access

I have the LT26i boot loader unlocked Xperia S and it was updated to 6.1.A.2.55. Its still Android 4.0.4 and not much has changed. I am trying to root it and it get all the way to where I hit the restore button but then nothing happens. I figured I can flash it back to the 6.1.A.0.452 but I ran into a snag there too. The old ics driver is not working. I am running flash tool 0.9.10.1
Is there any work around for this? Your help is much appreciated

Hi it seems untilnow there is no option for root for 6.1.A.2.55, you have to go back to some other version .45 or .50 and root that one and flash a .55 sytem to get the latest updates.
The strange thing is, i did the same and i was getting still the notification to update to .55 and i uninstalled the update service aplication.
Good luck i hope this helps.
hey try this since your bootloader is unlocked,
1.flash advanced stock kernel or ka sspeed then boot.
2. after that reboot, then flash via fastboot kernel.sin from stock ftf of .55 firmware.
