I noticed on the ota 4.0.3 that when I run chrome it isn't the tabbed (tablet version) version that my friend has on his transformer prime. It seems to only run in "phone" mode. Now I'm getting my tablet (a100) back from repairs tomorrow but I'm would like to see if there's a fix or if there was an update that fixed it or if just change the dpi would work maybe. Idk. Can anyone help?

Is anyone else concerned with this, or is everyone just using a different browser. If so which one do you suggest. I don't mind how many features it has. I'm just looking for something fast

Haha its cool. I can always just use the stock browser as its all ill need and plenty fast. I just like the synced tabs from the pc to the tablet it offers. And I might as well ask you, do you think the cm10 builds for a100 are good enough as dd. I kept reading and I can't see any problems from others but do you notice a responsiveness difference from ics since this has project butter. I know i notice it in my infuse (running cm10 on it too).
Edit: this is my last post haha. I'll move any more questions to the general thread haha.

CM10 Tablet UI is noticably faster, by far, I can't say if it benchmarks any higher then the "normal" CM10 does, but going from one to the other is a big difference in UI smoothness and responsiveness without any additional mods, IE normal kernel, build.prop etc, just Tablet UI forced. It's done in a dirty way as I haven't figured out the switchable UI yet, last I heard WDS was also working on a method for switching between Phablet and Tablet UIs, which should be alot cleaner then the way I found.
Either one is fine for a DD, I never had an issue on it that wasn't already known and posted.

I have been experiencing this weird problem with the Stock andriod browser ever since I flashed my first ROM. Every 4th or 5th time I open the browser, scrolling is extremely laggy. Laggy to the point of not being able to use. Once I close the web browser and open it back up, the problem is fixed, smooth scrolling once again. This repeats itself throughout the day at random.
I have tried multiple kernels and multiple ROMS all delivering the same problem. I dont know if this is a flaw in the actual browser itself or not, but it really sucks because I love the stock andriod browser.
Any ideas on what would be causing this?
ive noticed this too with the stock browser and i think its just something in the app itself i switched to dolphin browser mini and dont have that lag at all

You need the smooth scrolling mod that comes with the samurai kernel its just framework.jar but usually specific to TW and AOSP ROMS.

hmmm im not entirely sure what could be causing that unless there is something running in the background that is slowing your phone down...are you experiencing lag while scrolling thru anything else like apps or the market?

If i decided to switch to cm9, is it considered an "everday use" ROM yet... or still plenty of bugs to be worked out? Im not picky about the small things, as long as my web browser and apps work! with good scrolling LOL, I cant stand laggy scrolling! it makes my phone feel cheap.
its kind of a toss up yes there are still quite a few bugs to work out but it is stable enough to use as a daily there are just some minor things that dont work...for me its fun to tinker with and learn but i need something more stable and reliable at the moment so im still using CM7 as my daily

Possibly the same Problem?
:cyclops: Hello,
I think I may have the same problem, and was curious if the kernal mentioned fixed it for your issue?
My Issue...
After an extended amount of time using the browser, pages will start to "skip" or "lag" when scrolling. For example, I will place my finger on the screen to scroll a google results page, and without removing my finger I will scroll up or down (doesn't matter which), and during the scrolling I will notice the screen lag. Lag, as in the screen appears to freeze briefly, and then pick up where my finger is, giving the appearance of "lag", "skipping", or "jumping".
I think the important key here is that my finger is not removed from the screen. The problem does not occur when I flick the screen to scroll.
Noticing that the problem happened after an extended amount of time I tested clearing the cache, and force closing the browser. And that does indeed fix the problem, at-least for the time being until it begins to do it again.
Thanks for any help you guys can give, or directions you can lead me in to fix this problem.

Nope, works fine for me.
Nope. Not very. Just a bit laggy.
I see that UI on 4.2 is not so fast as it was on 4.1.2, but some apps (e.g. chrome) works a bit faster.
So, yep - I'm happy with the update.

People who aren't having speed issues: Can you test a couple of scenarios I've noticed in particular?
1) In the new gmail: tap on the account switching area at the top. This loads far slower for me with the new app
2) Put your phone to sleep or wake it up. Sleep/wake seems quite a bit less responsive in 4.2 on both of the stock phones I've tested.

No. 4.2 is just as fast as 4.1.2 on my GNex... which was fast whether I use the stock UI or Apex Launcher. Granted there is an initial sluggishness during the initial boot from services loading in the background... but after that my GNex is smooth and fast.
Those of you experiencing slow speeds: Try flashing the factory image from Google. I had one app that didn't work properly and a flash to factory stock and re-root fixed the problem. It's possible you have an app running in the background eating up resources too.
I understand these threads and posts must be annoying to those who aren't having issues, but to people like me, who OTAed a bone stock phone and are left with a less-than-satisfactory experience, it is equally frustrating. Especially considering how many improvements were made with 4.1-4.1.2, which have now been rendered moot.
I guess my only recourse is to wipe and flash stock, but because I'm not rooted and don't have any backups, it'll be fun to rebuild my phone.

Turn off that live wallpaper! JK hopefully that isnt the case...
Each Android iteration on the GN has gotten smoother for me. 4.2 is pretty amazing out of the box, much like 4.1 was when compared to 4.0.3/.4. The GN is definitely not lacking when it comes to having what it takes for 4.2.
4.2 is really, really fast. When they fix camera rotation and recent apps, it will be perfect. It killed my urge for N4. Now I can easily wait for one more year... Good job Google.

I have been using various TW based ICS Roms for sometime. Darkside, Infamous, etc. I have been so excited to use Jelly Bean and try out project "Butter" I notice there is an official stable release for Cynogen mod 10. Is it time to flash? I get anxiuos about it because I delt with an old HTC HD2 for a year and there were lots of "work arounds" and such. It became rather annoying. So I really like BLN notifications, and having a camera that "Just Works" and decent battery life etc. Are these things I am going to sacrifice. And also, if I wait until there is an official release of JellyBean for our device over the next couple of months would we see more stable builds shortly thereafter? Would it be worth waiting another month or two? or is time for JellyBean? Just curious what folks thoughts are about this? Who is using what? How it works etc? I am really looking for a DD something I can be happy with awhile. I can always just do a Nandroid and hope for the best I guess lol. Thanks for any input!

Definitely try CM10!!
You will fall in love.
I know exactly what you are saying about being hesitant because you want something that just works, without a bunch of additional issues to fix.
I always seem to find problems with other other roms that push me into looking for something else, NOT HERE!
CM10 is just so polished, It even fixes things that didn't work in any TW rom for me such as being able to send / receive MMS while connected to wifi.
It even has BLN built in and activated from the start.
I must say that CM10 + T989 = THE BEST phone experience I have EVER had with any phone.
I was getting so sick of going through so many wrongs, always to end up having to settle with some negative.
Everything just works with CM10 on our phone, and works well at that.
I finally dove in with the nightly CM10 builds about 2 months ago and now the official CM10 release.
Not a single lock up, force close, reboot, glitch or problem here in the last 2 months.
Battery life is really good, phone is smooth and fast, and most importantly it's super functional.
Everything works so much better for me than with any of the TW roms.
I love how CM10 is minimalistic and fast, yet has so many functional improvements and additions.
In my opinion it is hands down the best rom for our phone.
I think the fact that there is an entire team of developers working on CM is what makes it so good, it's not just dependent on one person like most roms.
Flash CM10... fall in love with your phone all over again!!
And after you flash CM10, flash this GAPPS http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
I haven't had any problems whatsoever.

With how easy it is to do a backup/restore of phone these days, I find it easiest just to backup what I have and dive in to a new rom because the worst case is that you have to spend 5 minutes for it to restore if you don't like the new rom. Good luck! Hope you enjoy it!

I have not had any issues with the gallery, camera, or video recorder whatsoever. In fact, I took over 200 photos and 10 videos at a concert this weekend. I haven't seen any issues with it in the CM10 thread either, so I know it's not a common CM10 problem. Are you running the stock CM10 camera, or have you tried flashing the 4.2 camera? I know the 4.2 camera has some issues, thus why it's not stock on CM10 yet. I would say, try clearing your camera / gallery cache. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad flash. Make sure you wipe data / reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache, flash the rom, flash gapps, clear cache / dalvik again, fix permissions, then boot into CM10. Never had a problem doing it this way. I'm using 2.2.2 (i think) TWRP touch recovery. As far as the outgoing call issue, I have not had that issue either. Occasionally someone can't here me when they call me, or I can't hear them, but not very often. I had this issue on stock and every rom though.I think it's just a Tmobile issue. I'd say try some different radios. UVLE1 has been good to a lot of people.

Every scrolling; menus, facebook, xda app, etc. Except stock browser is jerky. When you scroll it doesnt stop smoothly it jitters. Not too much but its definitely there and made me realize it.
I compared it to sgs2 running jellybean and everything is smooth there...

So should I try to clean install jedi again? I so dont wanna do that cuz after I flash roms I do so much tweaking it takes an hour or more to finish.
You have it as well but someone else said on jedi thread that after he clean installed its gone.
Did you clean install the 6.1.2? Or just flashed on top of previous one?
Running CleanRom 3.3 (Chose Perseus kernel when installed) and its silky smooth
Its killing me. I installed jedi 6.1.2 with perseus kernel still jerky. I am running clean rom 3.3 with perseus now and still not smooth. Tried note2core kernel still same. Installed stock 4.1.2 with perseus still laggy.
Only tome I felt less laggy was saber kernel with jedi. However saber only supports fat32. I have 64gb exfat.
This is insane. My old sgs2 with 4.1.2 is buttery smooth.
I cant seem to find the solution to this. This really made me hate this phone. Seems like frame rate is so low tgat it seems jerky when you scroll down or up on settings, facebook, tapatalk or other apps.
When you scroll slow or very fast there is no jerkiness. Its there when you scroll medium speed.
You scroll and it jerks seveal times very shortly until it stops. thats why it looks like frame rate is so low.
Enabled/disabled force 2d, nothing changes. Flashed maybe 10 times yesterday. I always wipe cache and dalvik and factory reset. Flash the rom and do wipe chache/dalvik and factory reset again then reboot.
I cant enjoy this phone anymore since I compared to sgs2 and know this is not normal.

I would return the phone if I were you...sounds like a potential hardware issue. This phone is much smoother than the sg2 (and that was a smooth phone). Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I cant return the phone. Its not an option.
Also I dont agree with you this being a hardware problem. Stock browser runs buttery smooth even if I open a picture heavy website.

I think thats an app problem not the device. Stock browser scrolls just fine.

I have done a complete wipe and flashed everything from the start and it seems so far to be fine. Not sure if it was a dirty flash on my end or not?

Exactly. Stock browser works buttery smooth and I dont understand why other apps and even phone's settings menu jiggles when you scroll. Its not smooth as stock browser scrolling. I dont understand that.

Ohh I flashed clean rom and jedi so many times over and over again but ni change. However only jedi with saber kernel I was able get smooth setting menu scrolling but apps such as facebook, tapatalk, whats up isnt.
I compared tapatalk side by side with sgs2 running 4.1.2 and even though its not ios smooth its still smoother than note2.
Annoying thing is that nobody seems like aware of it. I cant believe you dont have the same jerkiness. Its just obviously a software issue and everybody running the same rom/roms should have it.

Well if they don't have that problem, it should tell you that perhaps it's something else

That's what I don't understand...no one else is experiencing this, yet when I tell the guy that it may be something specific with his phone, he says nope, that can't be right.

I'm experiencing this same thing but I'm on Jelly beer. If I could flash a different kernel I would but you guys should try flashing the asylem core kernel. You can overclock upto 1.9 on that one and it may help with the gitter.

Can you explain then why stock browser is very smooth? and why saber kernel is with jedi makes the android menu scrolling smooth? If everything was bad yes maybe I would suspect something else, also I don't think a hardware can cause jerky scrolling when there are codes in android that can adjust scrolling.
I was using sgs2 for a year and flashed so many roms and kernels, there were huge differences in scrolling physics. Some updates were jerky, some smooth, some fast, some slow.
Everyone's perception is different. I wasn't even aware of it it took me 3 weeks to realize this jerky scrolling. For some of you, you might think this scrolling is smooth but for my standards its not acceptable because I know it can be modified and changed.
I own sgs1, sgs2 since their release dates and know pretty much what a firmware can do to your scrolling....
What are things you've noticed so far in the alpha/beta builds of Android 4.3?
As of 8/10,
- (Cosmetic) I like the addition to the LTE signal. On cm10.2, the 4G icon has been replaced by "LTE". (Does not apply to SlimRom.)
- Device appears to be much, much smoother and consistent.
- AOSP keyboard no longer opens a window to save a word to the dictionary. It just does it once you hit save. (This one is a big plus for me.)
- LTE, while speeds haven't necessarily matched my Touchwiz experience, I can safely state that LTE, even with slower speeds than Touchwiz is loading pictures/videos a lot faster. It's much more noticeable how LTE connectivity has improved when going to a 4.3 rom on this device.
- Required to enable root via developer settings prior to using any application that requires root access. (This is a security feature but for someone that flashes ROMs on nearly a daily basis, it can become a bit tedious since it's just an extra step.)

Things are loading faster on LTE even with slower speeds? Interesting! Is your ping lower or something? I need to try a 4.3 ROM tonight.

Speedtest results yield ~10mbps in most instances but the overall browsing experience is much smoother. Perhaps something with the routing and such.

Some people have mentioned that there is a battery drain in early builds. Is this still true?

After two hours and 36 minutes of screen time, I'm at 89%. Been on 4G LTE the entire time.
Edit: I do have a 3000 mAh battery, though!
Battery has been great on slim it's also noticeably faster than 4.2 ... Camera is buggy as !-!311, that's really the only thing wrong with it though... My friend did just send me a file to flash to fix the camera, haven't flashed it yet so idk if it'll work or not

Really digging the aosp implementation of dialer completion. It's spot on! CM10.2 feels noticeable quicker than CM10.1. That's just from my p.o.v. though.

4.3 is running pretty smooth. Had it running about a week and really only issues are the damn camera... but that's not too big of a deal. I rarely use it anyway.

Is camera still buggy? what exactly is buggy about it? I havent tried an AOSP rom in like 6-8 months because first time I flased one my sd card got corrupt. I believe it is formatted correctly to where IT wont happen now and thinking about finally making the switch since touchwiz development has kind of slowed down recently and im starting to get bored. Main thing keeping me on touchwiz was the camera. I take a lot of pictures. Are there any other issues that would keep me from using an AOSP ROM as a daily driver? Bluetooth issues, random reboots, freezes ect...
I never had the luck of running a 4.3 build perfectly. Phone ended up crashing and getting stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S3 boot screen.
Latest carbon runs quite fine 8-29 nightly. However, I noticed Bluetooth doesn't appear in the toggles nor can you enable torch in the power widget. Anyone know a work around to fix this?
