WiFi Disconnects - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Often my wifi disconnects on my S3 I747M on Bell, when there is still strong signal...All I have to do it go back to menu and it goes to obtaining ip address again but it's annoying and is there a way to keep it on Wifi?

BT in flight mode

Searched and can't find a fix. Does anyone know if there is a way to use the BT in flight mode? I know you can use the wifi but I want to use the BT as well. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that would defeat the purpose of flight mode.

You shouldn't be able to use wifi either ...

No, wifi works fine just no BT. I know some say it defeats the purpose but I do a lot of traveling international and I want to keep my cell radio off. Is there a way to do at least that?

I find myself in the same boat as kkholidaze regarding BT functionality during Flight Mode.
For myself, I use a BT stereo headset (with speaker) and in some situations, need to disable the mobile connection. This leaves me with only with WiFi as the only option. Being able to extend this to BT would be ideal as I could send/receive calls via BT and if required, access my music library.
It's more of a "nice to have" than a requirement.
I know it was possible on the HTC Sensation to do it. I tried the *#*#4646 thing to try and turn off the radio but it didn't work. Any suggestions guys?

I'm bringing this topic back for anyone who still needs a solution to this as I have found one. Looks like if you turn on BT first THEN go into airplane mode, it will kill you cell radio but still leave BT enabled. If you try to do it in reverse (airplane then bt) it will not let you. Some roms (ics) will let you do it now either way but if you're still having this issue, try that.

[Q] Samsung epst for epic 4g touch?

How can i get the epst dialer codes to work on the e4gt? I've placed the epst.apk and epst.odex files into the system apps folder set permissions and installed them then reboot and get force close on initial boot then only force closes when I try one of the dialer codes for example ##prl# but does nothing. What do I have to do to be able to get this working so I dont have to plug my phone into my computer to change prls which is a daily thing for me between work and home. I'm a firm believer anything is possible and will help get this going anyway I can just need some help from a more knowledgable person also Im currently running team venums boa rom and would like to keep it that way due to the tremendous improvement I experiance in battery life.
Anyone?

I'm only aware that the PRL code works on HTC phones.
Im wanting to get it working or something like it working on the epic

anyone help me?
EPST is HTC only, and thus by definition will not work on a Samsung phone. Near as I can tell it has something to with changing settings on the radio itself(Anyone want to confirm/deny this?). If that is really what it does, then you are probably going to need to know something about reversing modems to get it working. Why would you want something like this anyways?
Im tired of hooking my phone to my laptop to change prls wanting to do it without doing so. Any tips on how i can get this to work or pointers to aomeone who can do it. Ive been contacting lots of app developers but none want the task of attempting and wont give me a quote considering i waste 20 min a day changing them on the laptop its well worth payin a dev

So is it possible to force it to roam? I just grabbed a e4gt from wirefly to replace my evo4g that I cracked my screen on earlier today and right now I am forcing it to roam while I am at home so I get 3g instead of 1x will I be able to do the same with the e4gt?

wireless tether anyone?

just rooted my phone but i cant get any tethering app to work... tried barnacle and "wifi tether for rooot users". i played around with the settings on "wifi tether for rooot users" and i got it to start with no errors with the device set to the s3, but my devices dont see it... am i missing something?!
I am troubleshooting this as well.
Having the same problem, seems like no wi fi tether even with root..
Guess it doesn't work with JB even with the write stuff according to Josh so for now sorry.
Wifi tether isn't working on any of the JB roms for the SIII yet either. It's no surprise that it isn't working on the N2.
wifi tether for root
Was able to get wifi tether for root users to successfully complete all configuration steps when I used the gs3 settings but it still did not appear to be broadcasting a usable wifi network. Hoping someone figures this out soon.

any word on hacked hot spots then? iI prefer wfii tether, but anything working would be better. I wonder if it the hack from sg2 can work. won't have mine til Nov 8-19, so iIcan't test.
iI sure hope bb price matches retail price or I'll be returning it and getting it from sprint. 18 mo interstate free is nice, but not if iI gotta pay 150 extra.
no hotspot hacks for a bit. a few spent all day yesterday just getting the 4 in 1 boot option so that should tell everyone its going to be a hard road but the way to think of it is like this. we all have the best phone on the market right now.
there is a way to tether using a rom that has the extended toggles mod by using the hotspots toggle...but there is a catch, you must change your ssid and do a clear data on settings each time you want to tether. It may not be the best method but it'll get you by until the devs come up with something better

[Q] Wifi Calling Issue

This is my Orignal post:
I do have a slight problem that I have not been able to find a solution for. When I am at work I have wifi calling on all the time because I don't get good cell reception. We have hundreds of access points all of them overlay one another so students don't loose Wireless connection. When I move around and switch from one access point to another the wifi calling just stops or tries to connect to the access point it originally connected to. Now I find this odd because I have set these access points up like I explain above so they overlay just so this would not happen. Now when I was on Stock ICS non rooted the Wifi calling didn't drop at all. I doubt you can test this but I am hoping you can point me in the right direction on how to resolve this issue.
A person wrote back to me and said this
(My guess is that it has something to do with how the rom polls for new access points. Polling may be set low to reduce battery consumption and causing problems for you because of it)
Which makes sense I am wondering if there is a easy tool or a app to check this out
I can't even get WiFi calling to be stable on ONE access point....
Give this a try

Getting no signal when calling.

Hello Everyone,
I am running the Virgin Rom with Ktoonsez.
I have been trying to find out the solution for more than two week but cannot find the solution. I got this strange problem in my phone, When I put my phone idle I get the full lte signal but however when i try to call someone all my signal get disappear but the strange thing is i can still talk to that person without the signal. As soon as i hang up my phone i would get all my signal back, when i get my signal back i can do normal browsing, watch video etc. I mean its no major issue, I was just wondering whether if there is any solution to get any signal bar back.

More device details please friend. What baseband are you on? NB4? If not, then you need to be on NB4 modem. If so, then it's possibly a kernel related issue I suggest flashing the latest build of Ktoonez kernel for AOSP, be sure to flash the right one for your phone. Example, don't flash the TouchWiz version

For sure. I'm on C-Rom and I noticed the default apn settings were a little wacky. So after editing them, I'm running great with signal and of course free unlimited WiFi tether

Sounds like it's working as it should! LTE cannot process phone calls so the device switches to 4g or edge depending on your area's reception. after the call is terminated, there is a very short delay, and you're reconnected to LTE (if there is reception for lte where you're at)
The device (depending on your settings) will try LTE, then 4G, then last resort to Edge when it's not on a call and just idling. It will connect when your device wants to access the internet or whatever, and selects the proper frequency (or mode) and use that for the connection..
check Settings/More Networks/Moble networks------ then under Network mode, you will see the connection choice.
if you tap on the network mode, it will give you different connection choices.
If you want LTE, you have only one choice and it downgrades itself as required as explained above.
you can save battery power by going to a lower frequency (like GSM only - which is edge Edge)
hope this helps you understand!
Aloha!
I want to flash the NB4 modem since im having the conection and do know how to use odin, just curious how to flash the modem as a .rar, I thought it had to be a .tar. so I felt it would be better to ask first before I brick my phone. I used the download for "Insane kit kat" I even unzipped it to find it still in .rar format

How do I know what APN settings I should have?
Or if they are wacky?
Is there a guide?

If you properly unzipped it and placed it in the phone slot of your odin program, you should be fine. Most people fail with either unzipping or placing it into the correct slot which in this case is the phone slot and not the PDA that you would use for a lot of other functions.
