So I have root access and cwm already installed, but am not running any particular ROM atm. Are there any sweet Roms out now optimized for the N7 or ones on the way? I've heard of cynogenmod but from my understanding cm10 is still in alpha/ beta stages.

In addition, since I already am rooted I am not allowed system updates, correct? And if this is the case, why are my notifications being pushed with system update info? (Im on 4.1 and keep being notified of 4.1.1)

I personally think paranoid android is a great Rom for the N7. read the first post in its thread under original development for feature explanations. You won't get update notifications once you run a custom Rom.
Updating now will get rid of root, but you can get voodoo ota to help get it back.

Is there an app to install this or upgrade the one that is on my phone already? I used a custom ROM and it was in there but then when I tried to find it I couldnt. Anyone got the apk for it? Is it even possible? Just curious.
I thought this was being pushed OTA already to 2.1 users. I've seen links to it, but Im in no hurry.
its packaged in a couple ROMs on the Epic ROM Wiki. I have it currently and I'm using AOSP Magic.

I'm on the LTE version of the nexus, running 4.0.2 rooted and unlocked. Will I still receive the update or do I have to flash it?? If I have to flash it where can I download it at?? I want to use a custom kernel but it won't work with my version...confused.

If you download it OTA then you will lose root. To retain root and custom kernals you will need to manually flash a rooted version by downloading it and using CWM.

You'll need to sit tight and wait for this. Or just flash a custom rom developed from 4.0.3.
I know that, I was telling the original poster that there was no 4.0.3 upgrade available yet.

Oh lol. Some dudes kernel says its only comparable with that version #confused

There are 4.0.3 AOSP builds, grab one!
according some posts, you will not receive future OTA update if you have custom rom installed, even AOSP build.
I just want a stock deodexed 4.0.3 rom. No changes no mods. Does that exist?

Are you looking for the latest stock rooted rom? If so I'm pretty sure u can find it in the development section. Or are you trying to unroot and go back to stock? And if your running mikg I'm pretty sure you won't receive update notifications for the evo from sprint. Not sure what your trying to accomplish man.

Dont worry about updates from Sprint. As soon as anything would come out, Devs work them into their ROMS. There should not be anymore for us.

Yea, if you are running a custom rom, you won't get update notifications from sprint, as you arent running a sprint rom. Just check your rom's thread for any updates.

Correct. If you were on a sprint sense rom and took an OTA, there's a minimal chance you could lose root [I've seen it happen], so as said, check the thread of your rom for updates/patches.
Sorry for even having to ask this question but this is my first Android device coming from ios. I found mixed results everywhere online.

The custom ROMs themselves will be updated to the latest Android releases as they come out.

If you mean OTA (Over The Air) updates then no you will not. In order for OTA update to install you need the stock recovery, not Clockwork.
However once the updates are released the developer of the Rom you are using will update also and you can then flash the latest version.
So my friend just got his galaxy nexus and it came with ICS. I was wondering how would I update from ICS to offical jeallybean?
flash this via cwm/twrp...its stock jb 4.1.1

There are other ways, but if he doesn't have CWM, just have him pull the update through the update manager in Android, then get Wugfresh's NexusToolkit and just have it unlock + root/install CWM and then just fwipe and either clean flash the stock JB ROM from Google or find yourself another ROM like ParanoidAndroid or AndroidHD Revolution. Like I said, there are other ways/combinations to do this, but this is the most automatic way to do it(read: lazy man way) and what I think is the easiest way as it requires very little user interaction with the process.
