hi, my pictures have dissapeared from the stock gallery on 4.1.1 they are still on the phone by looking for them through a file manager but they dont show up in gallery only the ones i have taken that uploaded with google picasa show up very annoying, please dont reconmend other gallerys i want to fix this one.

From what I read this was a problem with an update ROM manager got that is now fixed. Some people said that installing PowerAmp from the Play store fixed this issue. Personally, I deleted the file called ".nomedia" from the ROOT of the SD card and then copied my media folders (pictures and music) to my laptop. I then deleted those same folders from the phone and then copied them back to the phone and everything shows up fine. Hope this helps you!

Anyone had a problem where you're unable to view pictures on the stock gallery app? The thumbnails are blank, and when clicking on them a message saying "no thumbnails" is displayed, and the picture does not show. I can view pictures using a file manager, and Cool 3D gallery app.
This is on AOKP M5. I been using AOKP M5 and switching back and forth from the nightlies and M5. The only difference I've done this time is I deleted all the data on the SD card before flashing M5. The reason for me deleting is I noticed some app data was still left behind.
Anyone know how to fix this?
I haven't seen this problem on my Nexus but on my old phone if I deleted the .thumbnails folder in DCIM & restarted the phone the thumbnails were rebuilt.

Forgot to mention, I've already tried that. I also tried wiping cache and dalvik. I also transfered my Wallpaper folder from my computer to my phone, and the stock gallery does not display those pictures either.
i am having this same problem so i thought i'd just post here instead of making a new thread. i just posted this reply in another thread but i'm going to bump this one too since there are people having this problem and i don't think any of us have found a solution yet.
i was on AOKP M5 since it was released and the day CM9 RC1 came out i wiped data and flashed it. this is when i saw the problem. everything worked fine in AOKP M5.
i wasn't reallse happy with CM9 so i wiped data again and flashed liquidsmooth 1.5 and while i am enjoying it i am having this similar problem with the gallery. i have searched and searched and have found no solution for this bug.
when i go to gallery all the thumbnails are gray. when i click on a folder the thumbnails are still gray and when i click on a picture it says "no thumbnail." i wiped gallery in titanium backup and no dice. i also uninstalled and reinstalled the app through titanium backup. no dice once again so i just wiped data and did another fresh install of liquid and i am still having the problem.
i am able to take pictures and view them in quickpic but not in the gallery. i downloaded the es file explorer showed hidden files and deleted the .thumbnail folder (it was already empty) in the DCIM folder. the gallery repopulated but the thumbnails were still gray. for now i am using the quickpic app for my gallery since it is able to show thumbnails.
i just installed this liquid 1.5 on my friend's GN and the first thing i did was take some pics so i could view them in his gallery and he doesn't seem to have the bug. everything works as it should. is this bug just random or was it because his phone just had his bootloader unlocked and was "fresh" for the new rom being installed? in CWM i wiped data/factory reset so i didn't dirty flash. whatever the case i hope this is fixed in the JB version of roms. i really don't want to flash a factory image and start all over.
if anyone has a solution or an idea on how i might try and fix it PLEASE post it. thank you so much.
No Picasa Images are displayed under Gallery
Hi,
I am on stock ICS 4.0.4(reverted from JB by applying stock images from google).
I have synced all my google data with my device. But whenever I open the stock Gallery app, I can see a thumbnail preview of all my Camera photos properly. The gallery even lists all of my Picasa albums correctly but no thumbnail preview is shown. If I enter into any of these album no preview is displayed.
Some resolutions i tried:
1. I have cleared cache, cleared data and force stopped gallery and then again started as that was advised in some threads
2. I even removed ".Thumbnail" directory and restarted but no luck.
3. I have downloaded "Just Pictures" app and it properly displays my Picasa albums along with the thumbnail preview.
But I love my stock gallery.(Please do not suggest Quickpic alternative).
Attached is the screenshot of my gallery app.
Any advice?
I'll suggest to reflash the firmware - clean install + I hope u have a good internet connection too !!

Instead of re flashing the entire FW can I uninstall and install the only the gallery app? If so could you please let me know where can I get that apk?
At present not in a position to re install ROM and fiddle with the set up I have in my GNex!
All,
I have inserted an SD card from my previous S3 into my new Note II and noticed a few photo folders are not being shown in the Gallery App.
DCIM and a few other folders work but a few do not.
I am on custom ROM. I see a few other threads similar to mine in this forum but none had any conclusive resolutions.
Appreciate the help.

Thank you for your reply. My post does say I found similar threads - so yes I did try rebooting, installing rescan apps and using quickpic.
MMuzzy i hope you read this or someone who can help me. I just put on your 11.26 build of 4.2, used the superwipe and factory reset. I know about the new /0 SD card partition but I cant seem to get my old camera gallery and my new camera gallery to merge. I tried moving all my pictures to the new gallery folder and that didnt work, now my old pictures dont come up in my gallery even when i moved them back to the original folder. Is there anyway to get these to show or do i have to just store them on my computer and restart my picture collection?
Hey guys I have a very annoying issue. My gallery app doesnt show up my pictures in my sd card. I moved pictures by file explorer of its own, and they all are gone from gallery app. Although it doensnt show the pics that are moved , it shows the pictures freshly taken into external sd card . But it doesnt show the pics I moved into it. The other fact is that when I unmount the sd card and mount it again, even the freshly taken pictures dissappear.!! but after that I shoot some more and they show up but old pics never shows up. My sd card is new and I have no other issue apart from this ( its class 10 , 32 gb ,kingston micro sd card.! please helppp !! (

Can you still find the pictures in the file explorer ? What folder did you move them to ?
Try downloading quikpic gallery and see if it finds them
They all exist in external sd cad and I can easily find em all just going through file explorer. I can find an open them there. They all in the folder that camera app creates. But gallery doesnt show them

What folder do you have them saved in ? If you have a DCIM folder on the ext card it will find them if they are put in there
They all in dcim buddy but yeah I tried what you told me and downloaded quickpic gallery and it showed my pics up as long as I put a tick on ''show hidden files'' . But I have no clue why would they be hidden. They all appears when im lookin around file explorer. Lets think about it

Seems odd to me. For some reason it thinks they should be hidden. Normally the media scanner would pick them up. Are the formatted differently ?
I dont know which format it is but recently after having had this problem , i formatted it in storage menu of settings. And I put the files back on it but no sign of pictures in gaplery.but yeah thanks for quick pic app! At least it shows them all! But i need to find a way to get my gallery to work properly again

Yes , i did ot at my first try .but the same . I think my gallery app is kinda broken down for some reason.it seems to be working very well but, it has problem with external card. Maybe i should replace it but donno where to find it. I found some but they all are modified , not the original ones
Got to be a card issue. Move pics to internal or hard drive and format the card and see if it helps.

Phone could still have an issue veiwing them even though another will or your PC will
Hey guys Ive come up with news. I flashed succesfully synergy rom into my phone. And gallery had no problem showing pictures on my external sd card. After then I restore all the apps and datas through titanium backup that i used to backup all apps and datas from previous system . AND guess what ? Gallery has started not to show up the pictures in external again. I think an app is causing this but i dont know how to find out

My general rule of thumb is only use titanium to restore apps sparingly. I just keep an ext SD card with apks of the apps I want to install that aren't on market and use the playstore for all other. Flash synergy again and then do an app and check gallery, rinse and repeat. Might be tedious but worth it.
I used to have 2.3.6 GB stock ROM and flashed THIS JB 4.3 ROM Everything works fine but my Gallery app doesn't want to show my old pics at all... When I shoot new photos they are fine.. But my phone recognizes my OLD photos as VIDEO FILES and when I try to open them it asks me what app to use to open them showing video apps. This thread looks like the closest one to my problem. I hope someone can find a solution to this other than using another gallery apk.

Ever since I upgraded to the KitKat 4.4.2 OTA, apps on my phone cannot my find SD card.
When I go into the phone settings it is definitely there but apps don't see it, not even root explorer.
Any help/ideas on this?

Mine is doing something weird as well. Sorry if I don't' explain this correctly.
When the update went through my phone stopped seeing all media on the SD card. I have my camera set to store pics on the SD card. When I open up the gallery, it doesn't see the pictures I took before the update. Any new pictures I take are saved to the SD card still and I'm able to see them in the gallery. It's weird because they're being saved to the same DCIM folder as old pictures (if I only took one picture since the update, it will say I only have 1 pic in that folder). The only way I'm able to see the old pics is to move the entire DCIM folder to the main storage. I tried using Quikpic and even chose the folder that all pics are stored in and it still can't see them.
MX Player can't see any movies i have on the SD card.
Music get's a little weird. Using Google Music and Player Pro, I can't listen to music on the SD card. If I use Poweramp, it has no problem at all seeing the music there.
When I open the Files app, I can see everything on the SD card, if I select a picture, it'll ask me if I want to open it in the gallery, movies ask me if I want to use MX Player. I can open them on my own, but apps won't find them.
