I don't see google maps as a Live wallpaper option when stock on touchwiz. This is available on most current android phones and my previous HTC ONE X- Anyone know how to enable this ?
Thx-
Bump
Could this have been a htc sense only wallpaper? I do miss sense
From what I understand it was an android-wide feature from 2010 on.. It appears touchwiz has removed this functionality. Perhaps rooting would allow this ?
I'm running CM10 which is essentially vanilla Jelly Bean, and I'm not seeing any way to set Google Maps as a live wallpaper.
I don't believe this functionality is included with Google Maps anymore. There are a few solutions in the Play Store though.

well i think the reason you don't have the jellybean locked screen and such is because touchwiz launcher is on top of jellybean but you can download another launcher and it will look like jellybean and theres an app to go with the launcher it's called
holo launcher hd
holo locker
it includes the jellybean style launcher and the lockscreen that your looking for i've used them both and they work fine

Touch wiz has its own lock screen (but you have an extra icon now) same with the camera, status bar, and notification tray. Nothing changed other than a couple extra toggles. Pretty sure you have to download the newest version of Google search from the play store to get Google now. You still have s voice and I don't believe you can reassign the double tap home key (but you can disable it). The rest of jellybean is mostly under the hood and mainly focuses on making the device faster and smoother (aka project butter). If you want the true jellybean experience (and an all around much better android experience [except for the camera]) install any of the numerous jellybean non-TW ROMs out there.

ok so this is awkward.... seems google has released the new Google Search and Google Experience Launcher for all handsets running 4.1 and higher..... with Google ripping the forefront of KitKat out why move to it?
Lets get a list going as to what KitKat brings to the table behind the scenes....
1)better memory managment
2)Smoother UI experience(butter+)
3)built in printer support API!!! I love printing from my phone now!
For those that want to try the new Search and Google Experience Launcher here are the links.
Download Google Search 3.1.8 APK
Download Google Experience Launcher APK
yes this turns on "Ok Google" from the launcher and also allows Google Search to talk/ask questions back to you.
I still think we need KitKat as I have been running it and it is very smooth and seems to be snappier than the stock rom.
FYI the launcher will NOT work on our stock roms!!!
It is working on other phones with 4.1 but not our phone and stock rom(with stock kernel). You can use some modded 4.1 stock roms that replace the kernel. As I believe it is a kernel based issue there will likely never be a fix as no-one is going to put in the time or effort.
Well, the Launcher still needs to be side loaded even after the Search App updates, so it is a little different there. I like having hangouts handle sms. I also like the little things like the touch sounds and such. All of these things can be emulated, but it still takes work and a little knowledge to get a kit kat experience on a different stock rom.

This is true but the launcher will be on the play store and it has been reported that a card in now will popup asking if you want it.
For a stock rom you get the stability over most other roms but I must say KK on ours has been a really big surprise.
I sideloaded the new now on KK and the feedback is pretty sweet, no more hunting to find the right number to txt or call it will ask you and you simply talk back.
For me it's all about consistency in the experience. It drives me crazy to see a stock dialer or stock messaging app when I am trying to create an AOSP experience. That's why I generally go for AOSP based ROMS. It's just jarring to have the settings menu come up with a white background. OCD

Were you (or anybody) able to get this to work properly on ZVC? Tried the above, plus looking to get a potential lib, keep getting "Google Search" FC.

opppsss forgot to add that blurb. The launcher doesn't work on the LG OG stock roms. other 4.1 roms do work so it has something to do with the stock rom.
I'll add that in. The new Google search(Google Now) should be fine.
OP updated!!!!
Launcher didn't work for me on optimus 4.6 the OK Google feature worked but when I tried to add the search widget, OK Google went away. I don't know how to get it back yet either
Edit: turns out it went away cause I switched the language. OK Google command now works again

Just seen that there is an update for the english language pack that needs to be installed.
slid left to Google Now
scroll to the bottom
hit the three dots
select settings
select voice
select offline speech recognition
for those in the US ensure that English shows up and it is vers 28. For all others ensure you have downloaded your language.
BTW KitKat ROM users... this is NOT for you as it is all setup!

I just recently used the CyanogenMod to root my T-Mobile S4 and I just realized that I lost the navigation and S Voice features that were originally on it. Is there any good alternatives or a way to restore these features? Or even create a new ROM to switch between? I'm fairly new at this.

Can you not download Google Maps from Play Store? As for S-Voice I think it's a Touchwiz thing that also need other dependencies files to make it work. You could just try Google Now from Play Store to see if it work.

No there's no S-Voice but I think there's a voice search features. I haven't used CM ROM but I do believed S-Voice work only on TWz base ROM.
I could be wrong on that. Hopefully someone can verify.
If you're looking for a lot of the cooked-in "bloat" from samsung, you need a touchwiz based ROM as other users have suggested. You'll find a lot of those in the Android Development section of the forum. If they are touchwiz based, it'll say so in the original post. Be aware that AOSP and google play editions of kit kat are not going to have the Samsung apps like S Voice. Some developers strip out all of the TW apps for a cleaner experience and have a separate zip for all of those removed apps to flash if you want to add them back in. As to whether or not you can flash those apps and have them work appropriately in CM, you'll have to ask someone else. If you're really wanting those apps and aren't dedicated to CM, consider just switching ROMs - you may be happier with a different one. Don't be afraid to flash different ROMs to try out. Just make a backup with Titanium backup or a nandroid so that you'll still have all of your data.
You can download s voice if you look for s voice apk on Google.

As Google Now has been officially released for the M8, I jumped from GPE to try it out with Sense
All good except the dialler.I want the dialler with the Google search look up.
It doesn't appear to be included. Does anyone know of a similar substitute?
Anyone?
gratz... i guess?
whats the point of this post? are you trying to tell us there is a new update to the launcher? are you saying you modded/hacked the launcher itself or made an edit to the build.prop to enable it? or have you simply used the search function and are telling us that procedures that are described in other (device-)forums/threads work for the 5x as well?
just wondering since in my opinion this is an option that would certainly make the experience with the 5x a little more fluent without using a third party launcher.
There was an update to the launcher and its the most glorious day of my ****ing life. Lonmg have i awaited the landscape mode in the google now launcher
Your welcome F.....s
What is the launcher version? I have 1.3.large and it tells me it's the latest. No rotation here..

from what i could find, it's actually not an update to the launcher, but rather the google app through which the launcher settings are managed.
my version (without landscape) is 5.7.14.19.arm64, the latest slowly being rolled out is 5.8.47.19.arm64.
could be wrong though.
anyway, my actual launcher version is the same as yours, and as far as i can see there were no updates of that pushed to the playstore. oh the waiting game.

since i was bored anyway: apkmirror.com
oh that's cool, i wasn't aware they finally allowed this.
Been using Nova but I'll enable it on my SOs phone
Thank you and Google ! I was looking for this feature for ages
Easier way to get rotation is to become a Google tester. The version that it will allow you to download has the allow rotation option.
