I am currently developing a stock-based ICS ROM. I have modded everything as I wanted, installed new apps, lockscreen, etc. Everything works perfectly! I would like to share my ROM with other Anzu users. I want to do it via sharing Nandroid backup. After full wipe and backup I get a bootloop, but after restoring the same ROM with my data, everything works preety fine. What do I have to do to avoid bootloop? I'm gonna make a flashable zip in the future, but now I want to share my ROM in backup. PLEASE, HELP!
Here is what I EXACTLY do:
Flash official Sony ICS via Flashtool
Root
Flash mods like lockscreen, supercharge, etc.
Mod build.prop with self-made (and not) tweaks
Change name of ROM in build.prop
Remove bloatware with for example Titanium Backup or Uninstaller Pro
Make backup
Full Wipe
Next backup
Bootloop
Restore with 1st backup WITH data, for example apps
Reboot
Everything works preety fine!
On my face appears "WTF?!" face
????????

Did you install the xperia s lockscreen from AeonWorld?
It's a known problem and he has created a zip to fix it.

I was running Android Revolution HD 6.1.5, updated to 6.3.1
without wiping any cache, just download 6.3.1 and
flash it into my phone, just asking is it a correct method?
And, how do i flash mod into desire hd?
Like the same as flashing rom?
Help is appreciated.
Thanks.
With ARHD (and most other ROMs), it's a good idea to wipe before flashing a major new version of the ROM.
For ARHD, this means when either of the first two digits in the version number changes. So from 6.1.x to 6.3.x, you should wipe, or from 6.x.x to 7.x.x (when it's released). Use the superwipe script provided in the ARHD first post. But from 6.3.1 to 6.3.2 you won't need to wipe anything.
The reason for this is that a change in either of the first two digits in the ARHD version number means a new version of Android or a new base firmware from HTC. Some of the key system files will be different, and you're much more likely to have problems if you just upgrade without wiping in between.
Wiping does mean you have to set up your apps again, or you can use Titanium Backup to restore them (user apps or data only, don't restore system apps or data). But wiping is worth it to avoid having any problems later on.
Most mods are in flashable zips and you can flash them in Recovery the same way as the ROM. It's always a good idea to take a backup in Recovery first, just in case something doesn't work or you decide you don't like the mod. The mods overwrite system files, so you can't uninstall them - you have to restore a backup.
Hope that helps, and happy flashing.

Power down the phone and then hold volume down while you press power on to get into recovery. When you're in recovery there should be a backup/restore menu that has everything you need.
When you backup it basically takes a snapshot of your phone and saves it with a filename that has the date & time (and for 4EXT recovery, it also has the ROM name). When you restore that backup, your phone goes back to the exact state it was when the backup was made.
So for titanium backup is to restore apps and etc
While the Recovery nanodroid is to restore back to everything + rom
i did super wipe and install 6.3.1 and install some custom mod
CRT and BlueHD, Thanks alot !

Exactly right.
Hmm, if i reformat my sd card, will the nanodroid backup
wipe out together?
Yes, but you can copy the folder to your PC and then copy it back afterwards. It's the clockworkmod/backup folder on your card.

Hello Frnds,
I am on XperiaMod 6. Today I thought of flashing the FrankSteinMod rom. as it can be flashed on DoomKernel v19, I copied the rom on SDCard, went to CWM, did a backup of XperiaMod 6 rom. and flashed the new rom.
After I completed the rom flashing, I wanted to get my data back as I didnt want to install all d apps again. So I went into the CWM -> Backup & Restore ->Advanced restore and selected /data to restore.. After the installation is completed, when I rebooted my cell.. I saw not all the apps were restored... Like, my launcher only I could see restored.. Y this happened? Its quite annoying to see like this.. Again, I went back to XperiaMod 6..
I dont understand... whenever I flash new rom, some apps always go missing.. Recently I flashed KA06 and I could not find the market...
I follow the proper process of wipe Factort/data->Cache-> Dalvik Cache and the install zip.. still same problem I m facing..

Restore form NANDROID backup will solve your problem, it backups everything.
You can also try CALIBAN666 Gallery3D.apk, it should work.
If the apk does not work for you and you do a Titanium Backup of Galley app from restored rom, then flash your rom and restore the gallery from Titanuim Backup .
Reply how did you resolve your issue.
Backup will not work everytime sometimes it causes bootloops or soft bricks. I suggest you to see Flash DeodexedvStock ROM CWM Flashable with 14 toggles status bar on http://galaxyydroid.wordpress.com/2012/06/16/stock-rom-cwm-flashable-with-14-toggles-status-bar/ It's Stock ROM with some additional features like pre-rooted, deodexed, 14 toggles status bar!
OR
to get deodexed stock gallary
Download above Gallary3D.apk to SD Card app and install Root Browser free from Play Store/Market and allow SU access then goto sdcard> select Gallary3D.apk and copy it now paste it to /system/app and then reboot your device.
Hope this help you, if u found this helpful den press Thanks

yes....not change the name of backup...
moreover if you have flashed a zip and it didn't go fine....there is a possibility that the istallation have spoiled the backup or file of kernel...(for all I know it happened to me in this way)
Yes Guys i do make a full wipe before restore, and after making a backup i transfer it to pc for Safe storage, so whenever i need it i transfer it back to cloclworkmod folder

Then do it ! and try again .
This is what is happening to me. Lets say am Running on GB Rom e.g X-Gamer, now i want to try lets say Optimax Rom, i backup my Current ROM which is X-Gamer, then i try to restore it to see if its works, and i find that it works. so Flash ICS Original Sony ROM and root it. in the end i Have Sony Stock ROM.587 and CWM installed. So far am ok.
Now i Install ICS based ROM like Optimax or JellySandwhich. Everything goes Fine, so i Backup That ROM too and keep a copy on my Laptop. Now i decide to go to my old backup of X-Gamer, i Boot to recovery do a full wipe + i mount data/system and fix permission as i have CWM 5.5.0.4. which has permission option in it. i continue to restore my X-Gamer Backup. After Finnishing of course without error. i reboot the phone and Bam!!. Bootloop.
I reflash GB.42 with Flashtool, root it and install CWM. Boot to recovery and try to restore my X-Gamer backup, and WOLA!! it's restored.
same with ICS Backup. Reflash Stcok Rom root it and restore the ICS backup i made, and it works.
As i know i may be wrong (am a noob) The backup is a snapshot of the rom, so regardless of what rom someone is running when he restores the Backup, he should be back to that ROM in the backup and not to reflash first the corresponding Stock ROM in order for the Backup to work.
Please somebody help and shade some light
Have you used the same recovery all the time? Switching recoveries can "sometimes" not flash backups properly. Either that or it didn't back it up properly in the first place. TBH there's not much we can can do. The backup is corrupted and for that it is causing bootloops and braking things. All I can suggest to you is to reinstall a fresh install of the ROM and then try an advanced restore of your applications and data just not the Boot.img or the system.img

I have tried to use same recovery, but same result. restoring backup across different ROM does not work for me it seems. I have to have a working corresponding rom as the backup am trying to Resotre. for example if i want to restore my backup of GB ROM, i have to have a working GB Rom already on Phone. I Can't restore an ICS Rom while my Phone is On GB and vice verser.

Flashing an ftf also flashes the kernel, so restoring a GB backup when you originally installed ICS or vice versa will give you issues as CWM doesn't backup your kernel.

Thanks XperienceD for Clarifying. now i undersatnd. Just wanted to ask is it possible to flash A GB Sock Kernel on an ICS ROM or vice versa, then using the backup to restore thru CWM, as this will save time than to reflash the ftf, root it and install CWM just only to restore your backup.

This is why it's better to unlock your BL, then it's just a flash of a kernel then restoring your backup.
Hello guys,
I've been wondering how the google screwed us with so many JB 4.3 updates and here i'm still on 4.2.2 restoring to 4.2.2 after every 4.3 ROM flash as some are very sluggish and not so promising and with others the problem is TI backup as google doesn't restore my apps by default whatever the issue is...
After wiping factory data reset (System wipe + cache + data w/o wiping media) i flashed a new rom before that i did a nandroid of my Jul24 Euroskank with Trinity A3 build the last of 4.2.2 plus ti backup of my 101 apps...and after flashing 4.3 i could not restore my backed-up apps TI says error
:grrh : .
Please if any one knows a perfect and 100% tested method to backup user apps help me out with this issue ...thanks !

If your 4.3 ROM is using Koush's superuser, go to TB settings - backup location - scan whole device. Then select the legacy foder and you should be good to go. Alternatively, you could flash chainfire's super SU 1.51 and TB will work without changes.
