Dear Guys,
I bought a replacement motherboard for my Desire Z.
It came from Hong Kong to my homecountry (Belgium).
I have replacet my motherboard (only the PCB, keyboard, screen and so on are the same).
In Belgium we use AZERTY keyboard layout.
The problem now is that my hardware keyboard is in qwerty layout (so if I type the a it's a q... and so on).
Does anyone know how the motherboard of our Desire Z determines which keyboard layout is used?
So i can addapt this...
It's really annoying..
I have editted and played around with the files in /system/usr/keychars & keyboardlayout, but it doesn't matter.
I have searched for around 20 hours on this problem, but no luck
Anyone can point me in the right direction?
The ROM I use is Mimicry (ICS). I flashed also the RUU ROM from HTC (android 2.3.3), but the same problem.
Thx very much.

Dear XDA-developers-forum freaks
I've got a problem regarding my keyboard.
I've bought a HTC Touch Pro 2(picture attached),
and flashed it with the Timor 9 ROM, and it works great! (Thanks Timor )
The only problem is my keyboard is not working properly.
Does anybody which layout to choose and which registry tweak to enter to solve this?
The problem is in the hardware keyboard layout.
The Timor ROM was originally written for a T-mobile Vario V.
I've looked on this forum for over 3 hours(excluding the one hour maintenance break )
but did not found a solution for this.
Is some PLEEEEEAAAASE able to help me?
Can anybody tell after seeing my layout in attached picture, which registry value to use for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles\07FF ?
Appreciate all your inputs in this!
Thanks.
Hi guys =)
I recently bought a HTC desire Z (European Version).
Everything is perfect except I have problems with typing Chinese.
Actually, I can , of course, type in Chinese by activating the CHinese keyboard and then type with the touchscreen.
But the problem is that I can't type Chinese with the physical keyboard...It's always stuck in French/English.
Anyone has ideas on how to solve this ?
Thanks =)
But the physical keyboard doesn't have Chinese letters
FN + Space
@omarsalmin: We can use Pinyin as input method to write chinese characters
@n3ph thanks for your reply but I did try that too...
the problem is that I only have English and French available for the physical keyboard...
So it looks like I'm stuck...
Is there a way to add Chinese ?
You could try installing Google Pinyin IME from the market. It adds another keyboard to the phone
I have the same problem
Did you found a way to type chinese with the physical keyboard? I have the same problem.
Hi everyone, I am having a small problem with my HTC Desire Z. Its rooted, with Virtuos V.2.0.0 on it atm. Since I rooted it, I am encountering weird problem with my hardware keyboard. Since mobile was bought in Switzerland it comes with QWERTZ keyboard. My mobiles language settings are English(Switzerland). If I try to type something not only that Y and Z are swapped, most of secondary symbols are too. I tried pressing Fn and Space to change to German but there is only English under default languages and I cant find way to add additional languages in there.
HBoot version is:HBOOT-0.84.2000 (PC10***** )
Any thoughts or ideas?
PS
I found some other post which mentions Y <-> Z problem, but since I have other symbols swapped too, its not that much helpful to me
Dear,
Previous year I bought a desire Z in Belgium. It came with a french hardware keyboard (in Belgium and France, we use a AZERTY keyboard).
So the device is equipped with a AZERTY keyboard.
A few weeks ago I bought a completely new motherboard for this phone.
I replaced the board (it is a 'revision' board I think, some Chinese ROM was installed).
I rooted the new phone/motherboard immediately and installed Andromadus Mimicry.
Now I have a problem that the hardware keyboard is 'programmed' in the ROM as a qwerty layout.
So if I type a 'a' on the keyboard, the motherboard interpretes this as a 'q'.
How can I change this?
Anyone have an idea?
I know that there is a folder /system/usr/keychars and also a folder /system/usr/keylayout.
Maybe I need to replace files stored in this folder, if so, what files do I need to replace and where can I find them?
Thx very much 4 assistance!

I have managed to remap my hardware keyboard with the help of this guide There a couple of threads about this sort of problem with Mimicry,That guide works on gingerbread and hopefully it may be of use to you.
I have find the thread with the guide, thx.
But it is quietly impossible to change all the keys (including characters, using FN and so on)...
I have in the /system/usr/keychars a fome vision keypad fra.kcm
This is the layout I need to use.
Does anybody have an idea how I can 'activate' this layout?
Hello there. I'd like to use physical keyboard and mouse(with OTG) while I chatting or surfing with my phones, however I faced a problem at G3 while doing this. G3 doesn't support to Turkish characters(Ğ,Ü,Ç,Ö,Ş,ı) while using the physical keyboard. It already has Turkish language pack(LG Keyboard) and more keyboards which include our characters. Htc gives an option to physical keyboard like ''Choose input mode'' when it connected but LG Doesn't or I can't find it. Could you please help me how I switch the physical keyboard's language? Thanks..
Software
I know that this an old post, but I got the same problem with my G2, and found the only solution (I guess). I had to download a app to change lay-out. Since I got a Logitech, there was no problems finding one. Might be far more difficult if you are using other manufacturer.
Unfortunately, I've got the same problem.
I can 'switch' languages with Ctrl + Space (or was it Shift + Space?), but the keyboard layout doesn't change (even though the language icon changes (DE -> EN -> FR in my case).
I hope they'll fix that when Android 5.1 comes out for the G3 (if it ever does).
No solutions to this?
