Are you stock? Are you using a kernel, if so which one? If you are asking how, I am using CM10 and it's under advanced in settings. I would guess that there is a menu with each kernel.
If you want calibration numbers you can either play around with it or do a search for color calibration. There are a great deal of opinions on the matter so you will have to figure out what works for you.

I just use the CM default setting, which you can choose through that menu.

It's in display settings. I'm on AOKP right now so I'm not quite remembering what its exact name is but it's in there.

I'm pretty sure this doesn't work. Rom Toolbox warns you that you can only change to the same type of charging icon when you try to use it. He wants to get rid of the % altogether and replace it with a solid battery icon.
Prove me wrong though. A lot of requests for this. Dunno why, I like it.
Might ask in the calk thread where most run the rom he probably has a zip to flash

Do any of the ROMS for S3 support NFC without unlocking the phone?
Search the dev section for the mod.

I had found this mod back when I was using CM10.1 and tried it but it was breaking my WiFi/Bluetooth/data/phone/SMS... Any ideas? I am currently running ParanoidKANGdroid, but looking to possibly change to something else sometime soon.

me too... if u find out lmk....
Well in that topic I neglected to read that it is incompatible with CyanogenMod, which is what I was using at the time.
However, and I'm not sure about other AOKPs but task650's 4.2.1 AOKP has the option to change it between screen on, screen off, and screen unlocked. I was having other issues with that ROM, however.

I realize this thread hasn't been active for over a year,
But xPosed Installer has a lot of mods including NFC while the screen is off. Might want to check it out.

I have two t989's. The black one was good, while the white one had the rotation issue. Turning it one way caused it to flip in the opposite direction, etc. Flashing rotation fixes didn't help.
The fix was to install cm9 and go in to settings > gyroscope, and then to calibrate. After that, I could install AOKP and it would work without any further modifications.

Is there any way to shut off those extremely annoying emergency alerts? I've gotten two rather annoying and pointless severe weather emergency alerts one at 3am & the other at 5am. And before you say I didn't look through the settings or search there is no cell broadcast setting or any way to disable them in messaging on 4.2.2. Any help is appreciated.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I'm going to make an assumption and guess you're using sprint? If so it has nothing to do with 4.2.2 and everything to do with your carrier. Everyone I know that uses sprint has complained of recently receiving emergency notifications out of nowhere. So I can't help you, but if you're with sprint I'd complain directly to them.

Actually I'm on Verizon so that's why it's more perplexing.

I see. Idk I'd still guess it's carrier related if it just randomly started happening without you changing anything. I've been running 4.2.2 on my GSM G'Nex since it was released and have never gotten anything.

Nope it's the emergency alerts I've seen and had pop up and take over my phone before. In the past I was able to turn them off and plus I uninstalled all apps that might do that about a week ago.

Default aosp won't build the settings menu on properly for the emergency alerts. You have to edit a make file or something somewhere . Are you compiling it yourself? I can look at my setup later and let you know what the actual edit is if you are.

I thought I always checked that when building from AOSP...guess I forgot . If you want, you can probably dirty flash this rom. It's based off of the google image, so everything should work correctly.
Are you sure it isn't Google Now?
It's actually under the stock messaging app. Open messaging app and hit the 3 dots (settings) and choose Cell broadcasts. Then hit the 3 dots again and uncheck the alerts from there.

I already stated in the first post that the option to turn that off in messaging is not there for me. That was my first thought when this happened as that's where I had previously turned them off. Thanks though

That did the trick. Thanks mwalt this was the ROM I was running previously to having done clean install of AOSP which lead to all this.

Sorry, I must have misread that last part in the op. That's odd. I thought all stock messaging apps had that option. Hope you get it figured out soon.
I'm assuming you're from Pittsburgh too and got all those flash flood warnings? At some point stock gave me the choice to turn it off but I don't know about your settings.
