are there any apps that can switch from one app/game to another? like in apple, just a swipe with 5 fingers, then you will go to the next open app.

it seems that the multitouch gestures are not working on my galaxy s3, only the single gestures does. or i didn't execute it properly, any tips?
Can't you just hold down the home button and select the first option? Or do you literally want to swipe between apps

You can use Trigger to switch tasks.
Very very simple.
I made a short demonstration video of how to use Trigger to change tasks. Quality's not too good because I'm still not used to using Screencast yet.
You can use Trigger without gestures and that's by setting the dragging up, left, right, down directions to be the actions you want to activate. I've set the left action to be switch to previous task and the up action to be show Recent Apps.
And for a limited time, you can download Trigger from the Samsung Apps Store to get the full version that lets you make an unlimited amount of gestures.
Otherwise, you could download the free version of Trigger from the Play Store to try out.
Edit: If you want to move the Trigger Icon, you'll have to hold onto the icon for a second or so. If you don't hold, it'll activate the swiping actions instead.

I believe its because Trigger is still new and not popular enough yet.
Searching for Trigger Varience should have better results.
Also, in my original post, if you click the word Play Store, it'll link you directly to the app.

I dunno how many of you people have come across this extremely useful application called "GMD gesture control". Just tried it and thought its worth enough to share it with our s3 community.
With this app we can navigate the ui with simple gesture controls.
Highlights:
* emulate physical buttons via gesture(yes, no need to long press menu for recents apps anymore )
* multi touch gestures
* much more
Lite version here
Pro version here
App thread in xda is here
as this app (pro version) is extremely handy with custom gestures i request you guys to try it and share your idea about the custom gestures here with the community
Here is my customized gesture for recents app list

Does anybody know simmilar application that will work on my GingerBread (2.3.6) ??
I prefer two/three finger swipe to move previous or next app/task.
Definitely agree with recommending this app. I've been using it for months on my Acer Iconia Tab A500 and it was the second app I installed on my S3 when I got it. I don't think my gestures are anything really special, but the latest 4.0.x updates (to the app, not Android) have added MANY new possible gestures that simply weren't feasible before.
I've yet to play around with it enough, but has anyone made any awesome new gestures with the latest update?
hi!
maybe a bug, or just missing feature, but custom gestures aren't deactivated using Swype beta keyboard on sgs3, jelly bean stock rom, only the preset ones.

Samsung should have made the capacitive buttons work with the s pen. I have a few times tried hitting them with the pen only to feel like a idiot.
I am not 100% on where I found this, but with a easy build.prop edit you can enable the on screen buttons so that you can use the s pen.
I'm not responsible for what happens and all the usual disclaimers, and have a back up.
Using a root explorer app, go to system and long press on build.prop to select text editor.
At the bottom, add (without quotes) this line:
"qemu.hw.mainkeys=0"
And to turn them off, change it to:
"qemu.hw.mainkeys=1"
Or simply delete what you orginally added.
Enjoy!

The quick answer for the menu soft key is Google disabled it. Apps should have a menu button in the UI, and when it doesn't is when it shows in the soft keys.
It can be made where it is always there, but it takes a ton of coding and would require it to be done for each themed ROM. I might mess with it one day, but it doesn't seem worthwhile as it knows when to enable the menu soft key.
Sorry, but if I do it, it would be for my own ROM. It's hard enough to have time to work on that, let alone touch others to enable something that many wouldn't use
sent from my awesomely huge Note II
This isn't necessary
Just draw a "^" or a "<" anywhere on th screen (pressing the spen button) and it will either bring the menu or take you back, just as the capacitive buttons. Its explained on the spen help section on the settings.

I could resize it so the icons are smaller, but again that requires a framework edit. I would have to do it for every themed rom, or I need a morph zip. If someone knew how to make a morph zip, that would be the easiest way.

I absolutely love my SPen and would really be lost without it. But for those of you who are not following the other thread about this subject it has been learned that there are some gestures you can do while holding down the SPen button. So while holding down the button and drawing a line up the left side it will bring up a search command prompt to search within the app you are currently using. Also if you hold it down and draw a ^ it will bring up the Menu. And if you draw a < it will go back just like the back button. Some of you may have already known this but I didn't and thought I would let everyone know what has been found. All credit for this find goes to budde2 because he is the one who told me about this.

you can go to the settings - "S Pen / Quick Command settings" and add more. I added the last one in this picture just as a test...
Or off you don't feel like making your own this app is actually pretty effin sweet ...I use the one made for touch not the spen but it definitely gives you alot more features than using the native quick commands option too...not sure off there's a lite version for this but there is one for the touch version.

I know I can't be the only one here. This is driving me crazy. Please help. My phone was rooted stock..then I unrooted and took all the updates to get current. Now ALMOST every time I wake up my phone with the home button, it brings up the task manager. It never did this since I've had my phone on launch day. Is it something in the update? Can I turn something off? I've scoured the net for this answer and can't seem to get it. I appreciate the help.

More info guys.
What lockscreen methods are you all using? Do you have the preview motion on? S-Pen settings? Voice command wake up settings?
swipe or No lock for me. When I did have swipe, I just had the clock & user banner. no preview motion. S-Pen sensor is off until removed. No voice command wake up.
Am I going in the right direction here?

This is driving me nuts on my T-Mobile Note 2, 4.1.2 OS. I spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot this issue thinking i installed a misbaving app. I'm using the factory T-Mobile 4.1.2 upgrade ROM that's been rooted. Its hard to believe this wasn't tested before releasing this to thousands of people. Is there a way to at least manually fix this? I really need to be able to have a dependable home button on my Note 2.

You should make a how to thread, I'm sure many others like myself wouldn't have thought to do that. Having a camera button would be nice!

I use lmt for pie controls, remap my home button to power instead, and my power button is now my camera shutter.. I missed my camera button on my evo lte, but that about sums up what I miss about it.. Anyway, this way the home button doesn't bring up recent apps, access it from pie control..

I don't think s Voice actually works unless you set it to work with the screen off. If that function is there. But I think I seen it in the setting? I just use S-VOICE for minor things. So when I'm gone with what I'm doing I turn it OFF!

I've tried to set it that way but no avail. Didn't seem to work. Kind of wanted that always listening Motorola feature. I really wish moto would finally come out with a big screened phone.

Pretty rough on battery if I have it always listening. Never let's the phone sleep. Guess it wouldn't be bad if I had a zero lemon or something.

Yeah I thought it wouldn't let the phone go into deep sleep. Yeah that'll hit your battery pretty hard. Even if you had a zero lemon which I do. It'll still eat thru that battery, but you might get a full 2 days with it running all the time??
Me personally I couldn't burn thru my battery to have a app running in the back ground constantly...
Plus after awhile of chewing thru your battery cells it'll kill it much faster, being it's going to be recharged much more...
At least you got it working the way you wanted IT!! Now it's up to you to decide to keep using it. Or turn it on when you need it...
Btw Google Experience Launcher had a feature that Google Search is always active on the home screen.
You just have to pwr on the phone!
