I've just been playing with Android with HTC Sense from the Bravo on my TP2 - how come nobody's trying to get this working fully? It boots and works ok but there's no data conection but HTC Sense is really good!
Anyone working on this HTC Sense build of Android?
are you cdma or gsm? I think the cdma version works but I haven't had any luck with mine, but it does run brilliantly on my tp2!
it does crash on opening a number of programs and isn't able to establish a connection, if the developers could sort this out then it would be amazing!

Im playing with it now and its actually faster that winmo, no wonder they put this on the hero!

There are people working on this, yes. However a data connection is pretty important on a Smartphone, almost useless without it. So we stay with 2.01 for now. LOL

im not developer but it makes sense to me for work to be done on the most up to date version available, otherwise in the future the efforts will just be doubled? but i guess if those developers are happy with an outdated android that's cool for them (i get my desire in a few days so it doesn't bother me!)
Im a sense android by klinux user...
maybe its because Im in USA now and I cant use all the same data connection (cause of cost) but I prefer the sense version without data than the normal one...
anyway...keep up on working on fully data connection and I will be the king of happy mans!!!

Having said that, it's as useful as 2.01 to me - a Smartphone without sound is pointless too, IMHO.

Android guy here. Is there any possibility that the APNs list used in the 2.1 versions you guys are testing aren't the same as those in 2.0.1? Other than that and the ril, there's nothing else in android that changes between versions that would prevent a data connection.

Touche, to each their own. I have to keep my phone on silent at work, so for me thats not as big of an issue. I did just recently get a JVC deck with BT support, and I feel like a traitor switching back to WinMo so I can listen to music.

anybody get wifi working??
Just tried it. Really nice after everything is done loading. The data, wifi, and even the wireless settings don't work. Tried the fm radio with no luck. But overall with just data working would make this far better than 2.1 or 2.0.1, i dunno which one they're on. Also the ram after load was around 36-40 and then after closing everything it was 56. Not horrible, but could be improved. Ummm i don't think power off works either, but i just reset after waiting 2 minutes. This is amazing though, i've been waiting for sense on rhodium ever since i got the phone and finally i get to try it. Sweet stuff guys keep up the great work.

One of the main Devs, Phh thinks that it is not possible for the Rhodium. Was in my thread somewhere. We were talking about this before.
Update 7-19 Working Lock Screen: jrizk07 has put together a single zip update for a stable lock screen. Big thanks to jrizk07!
In the zip, the Sense 3.0 Weather is included along with the updated 3.0 lock screen. All are working.
Limitations/Bug:
The lock screen will not show missed calls. This is due to the use of the 2.1 phone.apk. The 3.0 phone force closes too much, presumably due to a conflict with our radio.
Some are seeing the VVM app displayed twice in the app drawer. This is not consistently reproduced.
Zip can be found below. It is best flashed on a clean version of the RMK OTA. Flash on top of the ROM with no wipe. Link below:
http://www.multiupload.com/ZXQ2B2L7HE
Update: I have managed to get the lock screen working on the OTA build by RMK. I did no dev work on this, but rather was able to find different combinations of files that mostly worked. I am no Dev and cannot really support this, but wanted to post my findings. Flash at your own risk.
Here is what I did:
Taking the great work by Seo on the Desire HD (Thanks Seo!) in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062962, these are the steps I took:
1. Flash Sense3_WeatherPack-0.13.zip and reboot to set up. Do not wipe.
2. Flash Stock_Weather_KingdomLock-0.3.zip and reboot. Do not wipe.
3. Flash Kingdom_Lockscreen-0.17.zip. Do not wipe
After this, you should have a working lock screen and the new Messaging app. The new Messaging app cannot send MMS, so I pulled the MMS.apk out of the RMK ROM and pushed it back into System/App using Root Explorer (remember to change permissions), and reboot. If MMS is not important to you, you should be able to keep the app.
Bug:
com.android.phone will force close on occasion. I am not sure what is causing this, but it seems to happen mostly at start up. You will lose network connectivity momentarily and it will come back. I am not sure if it is a conflict with my SwitchPro widget for toggling vibrate or not, but seems related. This will also happen when toggling 3G Hotspot, but after the FC, everything works fine.
Work Around:
If the Phone FC'ing is an issue for you, you can push the phone.apk from the RMK ROM similar to the MMS method above. Doing this will not show missed calls on the lock screen and it will not show the count of calls on the phone icon for the lock screen.
I know the Kingdom ROM folks are having the same FC issue with the phone, so we should monitor Joel's progress to see if the issues they are having are related to this.
Now, on to the Quick Settings.
Old Req...
I know we are all waiting for Kingdom and Virtuosity, but I would love to just add these two features to the OTA. I suspect it will yield a very stable ROM.
That said, can anyone point me to a tutorial for porting features? I am sure it will require some framework tweaks and new APKs, but I would like to at least start poking around since we have a stable ROM with all working features.

Don't forget MMS doesn't work.
A good place to start is looking at the sense 3.0 update in that thread.
It replaces various frameworks, permissions, and apk's among other things. The only problem is that it's based on the Incredible S otherwise we'd be able to just flash it normally.
I flashed it just to test and I got the lock screen to work however the com.android.phone will continuously crash along with the status bar. I don't have enough time in the day to look at it piece by piece for a port.

It always fails after a number of retries and looking into it the settings are all blank. That's coming from a clean wipe of everything to beta2.

So I saw through Reddit that they were releasing this for like 70 devices. Anyone try it? How similar is it to the various KANG builds we have for our device?
I'm downloading now, so ill post my thoughts.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA
so far it seems to be very similar to the Kangs. It does feel a teeny bit more responsive than those others.
The low volume on call bug is still present, but flashing aeroeven's .8 kernel fixes this just as it does in the KANG builds.
I didn't experience the multi touch issue that seems to be plaguing some users, but for what it's worth i didn't experience it on the KANG builds either.
The keyboard didn't stick for me while typing at all. i spent about 5 minutes typing random words into an email and it didn't stick once.
Edit: when logging into I heart radio the keyboard was sticky as hell.
one thing i've noticed is that once the market finally switches to google play, the label says Market, but it has the play icon.

So I downloaded and installed 7.2 but when I try to add a new account to sync, it says it cant connect to the server. Ideas?
Also, what is this flashing kernel to get rid of low in-call volume?
Thanks!

and....im a moron and just never flashed google apps. rom works perfectly.
I personally like kangs release better than this. I use swiftly x for my keyboard, and many times it lags when I type. Opera Web browser doesn't work for me, which is the browser I prefer. Long wait time switching between wifi and 3G. These are the issues I am having. Yes I wiped everything coming from kangs build before flashing this. I tried "fix permissions " and even uninstalled and reinstalled the apps that were misbehaving, but nothing has fixed these problems.

I tried the official build but it wasn't surprising to me that the most of the same issues that plague all cm7 builds for this phone are still present and the custom kernels don't really help to fix the problems. Im just going to stick with sense some more until cm works some of them out.

Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
A fix for the use of wireless tether v2.0.7. The overall feel of cm just isn't there. Its not quite as smooth as I remember and I really hate that when I listen to music and try to do other things it causes the music to lag for a second. The call volume was still very low which I figured would be something they would address but they didnt. Wireless tether app not working is pretty much a deal breaker for me though. I have to use my phone for my home internet and the hotspot just isn't a very reliable connection most of the time and its very annoying to get disconnected and have to reconnect constantly.

I found RC1 to be more stable than the last stable 7.1.0.1 release. Everything works for me including wireless tether, and I have not had any stability issues. The compass issue is also gone, which is a welcome change for me. (Trying to navigate Boston on St. Patty's after a few green beers via a compass that always points the wrong direction was not particularly easy.)
The only thing I have noticed is that the FM Radio will force close periodically if a notification noise chimes while I am listening, but it did that on 7.1.0.1, too. However, on 7.1.0.1, it would require a reboot rather than simply reopening the app. All in all, I'm pretty stoked. I am looking forward to stable and CM9 (hopefully) down the road.

I have read HTC's announcement. I say "hope," because I am going from Cyanogen's "Will [insert device] get CyanogenMod 9?" flow chart (see Ricard Cerqueira's Google+ page). Even with the release of ICS, there is still only a 75% chance. The only devices that are certain at this point are those that already have CM9 nightlies. Given HTC's slowness releasing kernels, etc. and my general cynical disposition, I'll believe it when I see nightlies released for the Incredible 2.
Hi,
I am having some GPS issues and I don't quite know how to fix them.
First of all, I have tried different ROMs starting with JellyKing, CM10.1, MarvellousCM10 and they all behave the same way.
The GPS simply does not get a fix, even when I let it sit outdoor for several minutes (I even left it 30 minutes).
There are times, however, where it gets the fix right away, it would work till I close the app that is using it (Endomondo, Runkeeper, for example) then it won't work again. I was not able to find any way to reproduce the "working" GPS.
The fact that it works, albeit rarely, makes me think it's not an HW issue, but I'm not so sure anymore.
What did I try already:
1) I followed this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563226
The fix -supposedly- was tested with the Wildfire S.
Made no difference.
2) I installed FasterFix
The App simply did not work for me. Whichever server I picked, it said that an error had occurred
3) I installed FasterGPS
The app worked, in the sense that I selected a server and it updated the gps.conf file.
It made no effect though.
I have installed "GPS Status" to test it and I was (never) able to get a fix since I installed it.
All of the above was done with the rom from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878031) but I had the same behavior with other roms ...
Any suggestion?
None of those patches will help you. It's just a placebo.
However, GPS is not working on cm ROMs as it works on sense based ROMs.
It does work, but it needs a lot more time to get a fix, especially the first one.It takes around 10-15 min, or even less if you're under the clear sky.

Poh. I left it more than 30 minutes on the balcony. Clear sky, completely open. Nothing.
Are you saying this is an issue with the CM10* based roms?
So if I try one based on CM7* should it work?
I really would like to move to JB and stay away from Sense ...but I need the GPS to work.
Thanks for your help.
Well, as I said, it does work, but it's much faster on sense ROMs.Don't know why you can't get a fix, I'd suggest downloading GPS status from play store, there you can see exactly how much satellites your phone is catching.
I think it's that way on every CM based ROM.However, I've never tried cm7, so, can't really say for it.

Hi FAtfcK,
how did you follow the 1st method, exactly?
I have installed ES File Explorer, then I downloaded the Google Specific, no SSL file and extracter gps.conf on the SD card.
Then with ES File explorer I copied the file in /etc (of the internal memory). It did ask me if I wanted to overwrite the existing gps.conf, so I figure it was the right location.
Rather than overwriting, I renamed the original one, then copied the new one.
I rebooted the phone (just in case) and waited ... and waited ... but no luck.
Did you do the same?
By the way, which Rom are you using?

In my ROM, you can select your region (Europe, Asia, Africa, ...) and aroma will pick a gps. conf for you.
And yes, first GPS fix takes about 15 min, but it should work fine after that.

DJolivier,
I'm sorry but that's not the case.
I flashed Marvellous CM7.2 and the GPS works perfectly. It gets a fix outdoor in 0.1s.
Even indoor it would get 4 or 5 satellites (not enough to get a fix), but it clearly showed that the GPS was working.
WIth any of the CM10* that I used the GPS was practically dead (did not see any satellite when outside): the GPS simply was not working.
I can't quite use CM7.2: I don't need many apps, but the few I do need don't support Gingerbread, apparently, which is a pity, because everything works in Marvellous 7.2 ...
Now that I know that the HW clearly works, I plan to re-flash a CM10 and try again the various options ...
Thoughts?
1) Take gps.conf from CM7 and implent it in any cm10 ROM
2) Try CM9. It's Android 4.0.4 ICS, I know that it works perfectly.
Gesendet von meinem HTC Wildfire™ S mit Tapatalk 4 BETA
You can't say that GPS is not working on cm10 ROMs, when it is.You don't need to touch gps.conf, or to do anything for it to work.It does work.
I got fix from 12 satellites once when I was outdoors.Indoors, I usually get 5-7.

You can't say that GPS is not working on cm10 ROMs, when it is.You don't need to touch gps.conf, or to do anything for it to work.It does work.
I got fix from 12 satellites once when I was outdoors.Indoors, I usually get 5-7.

Nightshadow931,
I am sorry but GPS with any CM10 I have tried so far is dead. I had some random luck which I cannot reproduce.
I am not claiming that gps is broken on CM10, but for sure it does not work for me. Infact, I was under the impression that this issue was only mine, however, apparently, it is not and there is a "known" issue with GPS in CM10.
I have installed this morning Thunderbolt 2v0 (based on AOPK 4.1.2) and it works like a charm.
I did not try Djolivier's suggestion of copying the gps.conf from CM7.2 to CM10: I read the suggestion too late.
For now I am going to stick to this rom.
Gps issue isn't in AOKP because it isn't cm based

I have a MarvelC and have been running CM10 alpha since January. I had been having issues with GPS in all the ROMs I tried - and was told that unless I was using a sense based ROM - GPS would not work for long if I ever got it working.
In the Play Store - I found this App - Navfree USA: Free Satnav. It works most of the time. There are times I do have a problem getting a connection, but I don't know if that's because of the ROM I'm using, or because of where I am at the time and there is no satellite to connect to.
For the US version, you do need to down load individual state "maps" to use - but that has not been an issue. They also have other country versions.
It may be a "fix" for someone - give it a try.

Mamadanz,
I think I tried all the CM10-based roms for WFS and I was never able to get the GPS to work consistently. I suppose it may depend on the App that you're using: the one I tried (Endomondo, Runkeeper) don't work.
Using the AOPK-based Thunderbolt 2v0 (which is JB 4.1.2, but not based on CM) I have no problems, whatsoever, with the GPS. It's been a few days so far and I have been using it extensively.
The rom, in general, is good. Some things are in a "different" place than what I'm used to, but you have all you need.

Thank you Scardac - I did download your ROM. Unfortunately, downloaded the wrong GAPPS yesterday and didn't realize until I flashed everything while away from home. DL's the correct GAPPS very late last night so am still playing with everything. But so far - everything looks very good. I'll keep you posted.
Thank you again.

Being that I'm a noob (<10 posts), I can't post this in the actual ROM thread (mods, please move if you deem it appropriate).
I wanted to ask if there was a way in Google Edition 4.3 to change the clock settings to *NOT* display the hour in bold font?
Is that functionality available and I'm missing it in the settings?
Thanks yeahmann for putting that together and to the entire XDA community for all the hard work!.

As far as I know you can't change the look and feel of the widget in 4.3, however you can always install Cyanogenmod cLock widget where you can customize it. Hope this helps.

It does help -- thank you.
I actually ended up flashing CM-10.2 because of the availability of better config options and am so far loving it.
Thanks again and best wishes!

Whenever you get a chance can you please let me know how's CM 10.2 working for you so far? I mean can that be used as a daily driver with major things (GPS, Bluetooth, NFL, camera etc) working without any issues. If so please let me know which nightly did you flash.
Thanks.

So far, CM 10.2 is rock-solid. I flashed The Sept 5 Nightly. Reason being - Friday gives me 2 days if something doesn't work.
I tried AOKP (too many options for me -- never thought I'd say that) and both Virgin and 'stock' GE (4.3) ROMs (a bit too stock for me).
I have so far set up email (GMail and Work using K-9 + Invitation Processor) and customized some options/appearance (cLock is da-shizznit). The camera works perfectly. I have not set up Bluetooth and not used GPS, yet, but will try both tomorrow on my way to/from work. One thing that I still need to figure out is the file-system layout inside Android (i.e. /storage/0 vs. /storage/legacy, etc...) as I'm apparently using 7.4GB out of 9.6GB available. This is probably because the stock T-Mo version left most of its guts behind and/or I incorrectly cleaned the device after having flashed all the ROMs.
One thing that I've noticed (with all the ROMs, except stock T-Mo) was that when you press the power button to lock/shut-off the screen, it ends up shutting off like an old-school TV. With the stock version, it would go dark seamlessly.
Regardless, I really enjoy having this phone now that I flashed CM on it. The fact that they provide an 'update-CM' option directly inside the settings is awesome in its own right. I'll update this thread once I give GPS and BT a run (can't promise I'll run TV apps on it, though -- that's not my cup-o-tea).
Best!
if you find certain things to be a bit buggy on CM, give Virgin Rom another try. the hardware elements of the phone work flawlessly. in an ideal world, someone would use Virgin Rom as a base and "Cyanogenize" it so that more things were customizable, such as Quick Setting toggles. CM is great, but the nightlies don't have the stability that the GE Roms have, obviously.
Thanks for your inputs...I guess back up of your old Roms may be eating up your internal space (if you have backed them up )...the old tv animation is the crt animation which Google introduced in ICS 4.0

Aaah! Good to know (about the TV animation).
I haven't backed up my old ROMs, but I'll definitely investigate space usage once I find some time.
Tested GPS and BT this morning: played a few songs over the car radio streaming over BT - awesome.
GPS is working good, too. I get a lock within 10 seconds of starting any app requiring GPS.
Thanks to all!

Even I flashed the RC2 last night. Using it for a few hours only, but it's rock solid as you mentioned.
