Go to this link and flash the custom PC10IMG by hot_hands in post #33 read the entire thread though, also do not flash a stock PC10IMG what ever you do, or you will be bricked for good. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912399
Note. This is for the tmobile G2.

THANX for the quick reply, but how do i flash without a recovery like clockwork...?
I dont see a link?
Place the CUSTOM PC10IMG on the root of your sd card then power off or pull the battery then hold volume down + power on and it will find the file and flash it automaticlly. File must be named PC10IMG.zip
Sent from my HTC Vision
Currently downloading the zip...just reading the thread while waiting...Hope it works, Thank you for coming to a noods rescue
I was on my phone when I replied so i couldn't see your carrier info, this file was made for the Tmobile G2, I am not sure if it will work for the Desire Z. Did you see my note in my first reply.
For the Desire Z I believe they have the RUU's for whatever version you had running on your phone
It still worked...THANX A MILLION{",}

It'll work, but it will also flash the G2-specific engineering HBOOT as opposed to the Desire Z one. Not sure there will be any adverse effects, but in case you weren't aware, the Desire Z does have slightly different partitioning than the G2.
Hi everyone... i was using strawmetal's downgrade pdf guide and successfully managed to downgrade my htc desire z to froyo(earlier it was gingerbread)
it also shows hows to permanently root the htc desire z.. i followed the guide to the point and after checking the md5-3 matches md5-2.... i typed in # reboot
now instead of enjoying my freshly rooted htc desire z ... am stuck at the welcome screen...the white with the green htc...
i ve seen the forum n yes there are xplainations of how to go about saving ur phone...
my query is a lil different ...
see , we did everything correctly ..so am sure we shud be able to start the phone with out losing the permanent root and all the other hardwork... i also installed the recovery clockwork ....
somebody show me the way .....
try flashing rom of choice from recovery
First off, Visionary is known to fail frequently which is why it is not recommended to use.
That aside, try flashing a new recovery via fastboot as some versions of CWM are known to hang on the HTC screen.

Hi all,
Strangely, I failed to find the answer of, what otherwise seems like, a simple question. I am running a custom Rom right now on my DHD, and I want to go back to stock Rom because I am selling this phone. Can someone point me to a guide, maybe already written by someone.

Are you having the problem doing it manually, if so try using FULL-WIPE.

Did you make a goldcard before rooting? if not, this could be the issue.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
yes, i did create a Goldcard when i first did it a long time ago.. Tried FULLWIPE.ZIP as well.
at this stage im going to have to send it back to VF with Android revolution on it..
kiwiboy1978,
Check this guide / links to guides for your very problem;
The Complete Guide 2 Return Rooted Phone Back 2 Stock for Vodafone Australia Warranty
The procedure should be the similar for othe carriers, although you might have to obtain the HBOOT & Recovery image from elsewhere.
Can you explain about the goldcard question. If I DIDNT use a goldcard would it cause this? I didnt think that I could root the mobile in the first place without the goldcard.
Its just weird as every other ROM installs without a hitch. Just the stock Vodafone ROM is doing this. And of course its the one I really need back on there!
aargh!!
**clarification, i did use a goldcard as far as i remember*
I never had to use a gc, as not carrier branded. Reading on xda, others have had issues trying to downgrade to stock without the gc. Without it they were getting cid mismatch or such when trying to flash.
Even if you have cid 11111111 now, it is still possible to check what your cid was before. Maybe this is part of the "check" it does when trying to flash back and giving cid errors/mismatch.
Check original in ADB, command prompt;
adb shell getprop ro.cid
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
ok, checked my CID and its VODAP021.. does this sound right?
shouldnt it be as you suggest 111111111?
If you did it in adb, that confirms that your phone was definitely carrier branded and you need s gc.
If you go to fastboot, system info, if your phone is s-off, cid will show 11111111.
I'm away atm, and can't really to any digging for you, sorry. There are a few threads going around on the topic, incl the one I gave you previously.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
ok. remade a goldcard got the stock ROM on it, same issue.
under system info it says S-OFF but the CID is still VODAP021. do I need to root this phone again using Visionary?
Deleted, been a long day.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Hi, just wanted to thank you anyway.
Those guides didnt work in my case. What I ended up doing was re-rooting the phone. Making a backup of the Android-revolution HD rom through ROM Manager, then replacing the contents of the backup folder with the contents of the Vodafone ROM.
This worked.
Cheers.
Good to hear.

Hi guys I'm trying to s-off using alpharev ISO disc...it goes through the process then after rebooting stage 3 I get 4 lines that say unary operator expected ... I shut down pc and phone boots as usual...
I'm running rxmix s v1.1
maybe change to stock ROM and try s-off again
Yes like the post above switch to a ROOTED stock froyo rom worked for me, the reason your getting errors is because the rom you are running has probably got data2whatever, data++ ect... this affects the alpha rev process.
Ditto above. Alpharev doesn't work on a2sd or similar ROMs... Look back a couple pages and you'll see I started a thread with the same issue. I'm on IC GB a2sd+...
Once pc is repaired, I plan to load stock Telstra RUU and try again, then re-root...

First, you better use USB stick instead of a disc, it is faster a more reliable.
Secondly, you won't be able to get s-off unless you flash either stock rom or AOSP rom ( oxygen worked for me without any problems).

Hi folks. Writing this without any hope that someone is online at the moment.
I'm currently using alpharev to flash HBOOT on my htc desire. It has stucked on step 3 with two lines on phone's screen:
Aplharev SPLBOOT version 2.0
...
Normal NAND detected. Non-PVT4
and keeps hanging like that nearly an hour already.
The phone is rooted, with Clockworkmod recovery and InserCoin 2.0.1 DATA2EXT ROM installed.
Did anybody have the same behaviour while flashing HBOOT?
Should I be patient and wait for some miracle to happen?
thanks in advance.
Are you S-Off already??
use the new S-OFF utility. It's a lot quicker and easier. Just make sure you uninstall HTC Sync, or at least make sure it isn't running.

finally I've restored my previous ROM (and sh*tted a pile of bricks during this hour).
HBOOT screen says that my device is still S-ON. strange... maybe that's because of 'DATA2EXT' ROM onboard.

You won't be able to alter HBoot without S-Off...
I am not sure how the new Utility that bortak linked to works, but I know that the "old" alpharev will not S-Off if you are using A2SD/D2SD/D2EXT type ROMs. You will need to flash stock RUU (do not use latest GB update RUU!!!), or one of the AOSP ROMs, such as Oxygen, before proceeding.
Once you have S-Off, you can go back and re-root, then upgrade your HBoot etc.

I'm still wondering, why TUT-makers didn't mention this A2SD/D2SD/D2EXT ROMs inconsistency.
I think this should be written in large letters on the first line for noobs like me
Lol, you're right on that!!
If you look on alpharev site, it is mentioned in the text, but VERY small!
Requirements:
The only requirement right now is that the ROM you're running is rooted.
As techniques such as 'data2ext' have been popping up, these might disturb our finely-tuned flashing process.
Please revert to a rooted stock ROM if possible. Your /data partition is used for temporary storage of important files.

I missed it the first time also, had lots of dramas, and finally spotted that note after many frustrating hours. It should have been written in bright red, 72 cap at the top of screen!!
You need to use an a2sd Rom like lee Droid 2.5.
Alpha rev state this at start of web page using data2sd can cause problems.
Flash lee Droid 2.5 and try it again, you should be fine
Kind regards

I have a Telus Desire HD and I managed to downgrade then root and Radio s-off,then installed Revolution HD 5.2.3 and everything is great.
However now i am selling it and the person that wants it says he wants it stock with no root or custom anything.
Honestly I don't know how to go about it to do this and that is why I need some help from someone that has more experience and knowledge than me.
Thanks in advance and if i left out any important info about my phone let me know and i will include it.
You should have made a backup of your stock rom .
if you did flash it though recovery. It will lose root. Still be s-off but they wont know ha.
failing that you need an official ruu. This is an .exe file used. With a windows pc. You will find these in the dev forum or the htc website. Ruu will.remove s-off radio-off and the eng hboot.
if you dort have a pc or cant connect your dhd to it. Flash a stock (but custom) ·rom and tell them its done.
.if they dont mod phones they wont know the difference.

Before I rooted and installed custom rom the phone had the Telus logo when it booted but now its gone since I rooted and flashed the custom rom.
I managed to download to RUU's...

So after reading this what is your recommendation?Do i still need the gold card to flash the stock rom?
Thanks for the help bud!
Personally i would go for the first one you listed. Connect your phone to htc.sync and double click the ruu. It should run the update and return your phone to stock. No goldcard or special method needed. Let me know if it goes well?

I am so scared that this damn phone is bricked, please help!!
Edit:
Wow I almost got a heart attack and thought it bricked but was relieved when it booted up again.
But now I am scared to attempt this again and I don't know what went wrong.
Did it flash the RUU? or are you still rooted?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
No,unfortunately it did not flash cause it got stuck at the black HTC screen and then I disconected the cable rebooted the phone.
And now I am totally scared to even make a second attempt but eventualy I will have to.What is the chance of bricking the phone while running th RUU?
I have never heard of it happening before but I don't want you to be the first.
I don't understand why it didn't flash. If Ruu are not compatible it won't try to flash them. Usually.
I know its not morally right. But could you flash a stock rom via recovery then remove the superuser app. Giving the impression of being stock. Will be safer for you.

Is it possible to even brick with RUU at all?I want to give it a second try but the thought off bricking is scaring me.I use to own an Iphone before I switched to Android and I had the worst experience with the Iphone that it left a mental scar on me.
Anyway I spoke to the guy that wants to buy my phone and he is basicaly now saying that he wont mind having the phone rooted but he would like to have a stock rom on it.
I tried to tell him that the current rom that I have on (Revolution HD 5.2.4) is way better than stock but he is not listening to me.
There are stock roms in the dev section. Ill grab a link for you if I have time. Bit busy at the monent sorry.
Idont think you can brick with an ruu but I'm not 100 percent. Id go with the stock rom through recovery.

This, I believe, is the best option. And the safest.
Its a standard zip to flash through recovery. Its rooted but as the person buying the phone said they want stock. This is the closest you will get without an RUU. Glad to be able to help.

Not sure why the ruu failed. But if you want to give an alternative a try is run the ruu for the first two steps, right before it begins flashing. Go into your temp folder. You'll see a folder named bunch of gibberish. In there look for rom.zip. copy it and rename it PD98IMG. Place in the root of your SD card and flash through hboot
So I am on Windows 7 and where is this temp folder located specifically?
Could it be possible that the RUU failure is caused by win7?
Sent from my Desire HD
In the start menu search %temp%.
Not sure. Could be maybe a driver issue? Did you have USB debugging on? Maybe a bad download?
I've ran ruus on windows 7. So I doubt its the os
I think I did have usb debuging on....you think tat could be the problem?
And thanks for the search tip I managed to find the folder.
I will give this a shot in the morning with a nice cup of coffee .
Sent from my Desire HD
ive always have mine to have usb debugging on when connected to a pc, but not positive that it is required for the ruu. Ive only ran an RUU a couple of times.
Also do you have HTC Sync installed? if not install it and try RUU again. Personally i prefer the PD98IMG method though. keep us posted
I do have HTC synch installed so I think that can't be the problem.
I'll try the RUU method one more time and if it fails then I will try your method.
Thank's for your kind help sir.

ok. let me know if it works. maybe try the other ruu this time. first one you tried must be wrong. good luck

my power button doesn't power off the phone,i always do a battery pull and when i go to bootloader volume up-down doesn't work nor power
my current rom is working <see picture attached> but new market installed always says stopped unexpectedly
please someone help if you can thanks airmario

SwiftKeyed from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
In my humble opinion I would say: Do a complete wipe of everything and then do a clean stock rom install. After that try again. ow btw the update from HTC for your bootloader unlocker is NOT for the HTC Desire! But revolutionary works 100%. Did so on my HTC Desire WITH the new Gingerbread update. Now I am S-Off and rooted and have the Leedroid rom running ( with some tweaks)

First of all if I am not mistaken Unrevoked doesn't "fully"root your phone. because your S-on doesn't turn into S-off. Therefore you usualy needed to do a nand root. And that could brick your phone if that fails
Sorry if I seem a little cautious with my words because I am a little newbe to all this
But with the Revolutionary tool it works. Trial and error on my own HTC Desire to prove it
You should be able to look for a Froyo RUU or even the newest Gingerbread update for the Desire and flash your phone with it. And then start from scratch with rooting with Revolutionary. If you allready did the update from froyo to Gingerbread there is no turning back to Froyo for now as far as I know. So you have to flash again with Gingerbread
Look on the threads her at XDA and you will find it or even try google. If you done that with succes you start rooting S-off with the revolutionary tool.
Don't bother trying to unlock the bootloader with the unlocker from HTC!! It is not ment for the Desire...!
hope this helped

Was your phone branded? If not, just download this ruu, run it and follow the instructions on screen:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
If it was, create goldcard, put it in your deisre and then the ruu again:

Ok thanks
I'll try it and get back to you

I'd go right ahead and download the Gingerbread update from HTC, wouldn't bother with the Goldcard because you may spend a lot of time trying to fix something which is unfixable. I seem to remember having a problem like yours, which was only solved by downloading an installing the official HTC RUU, I had also tried to get S-Off with Unrevoked but didnt use the right driver(was using HTC's driver, or maybe another, whatever it was it wasn't the right one to use with unrevoked, although unrevoked seemed to have worked!?).
Revolutionary has improved upon Unrevoked though. Its a lot simpler, the process is quicker and there's no user interaction at all. If you back up as much of the stuff and apps with titanium as you can or just your personal stuff, shouldnt be to much of a hassle.

About which unfixable are you talking about? You get cid error when you want to flash stock ruu although your phone was branded.

And at this point he will need a goldcard (maybe) to avoid cid error. That's why I asked if his phone was branded or not. So please do not talk about an error which is not fixable without defining which error you mean more precisely.

To backup apps with tb, one needs root access. The thread opener does not have it and revolutionary does not give you root access till one's flashing the zip mentioned on the documentary site.
And revolutionary is another matter altogether, because the op wants to go back to stock. He may run revolutionary then.
I tried doing it by ruu HTC but always giving me error 120 battery less than 30%....
What can I do?

I would do this: switch off the phone, remove the battery for 10 seconds, plug the battery again, charge full with phone still off with htc ac charger (2.5 hours at least), remove the charger, switch on the phone, ensure u have usb debug active, connect the phone to ur pc, run the ruu (if u are no brand use the 2.29.405.5)
