Hey, for some reason my mobile data/gps decided to stop working this morning.
I used my data on my way home from work last night, set the phone to charge and when I left I noticed I had no data connection.
I check throughout the day and nothing but I continued to get text messages and calls.
Sending MMS message also seemed to have stopped working.
Is it something thats messed up with my phone? I tried changing settings in the ROM, going back to stock, nothing seemed to have worked. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Checked it properly. Checked the ones from my providers website. Tried different ROMs. It doesn't seem to work.

Call your provider and confirm that you still have a data package on your plan. Im not sure how long you had your phone or if you got a new phone but whenever i switch between phones and ATT scans for the new IMEI number and it doesnt match what they have, they always kick my data off and then i have to call them to have it added back.

OK, I have been dealing with this since I bought my GSII and cannot find any information about it.
Firstly I want to say that I am completely stock and unrooted.
My phone does not like to keep a stable data connection. About 50% of the time, when I try to do anything that requires a data connection (facebook, browser, gmail, etc.) the 2 arrows under the 2g/3g/4g icon will stick being grey and my phone just sits there "loading". I tried a factory reset, didn't install any apps, and also got a new sim card and the issue remains. It happens everywhere so it is not just a bad network connection.
I decided to post the question here because yesterday I was playing with my brother's GSII, and his did the same thing.. So it made me think that maybe it wasn't just me. Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone know what might be the cause?
Edit: I set my phone to use 2g only, and the problem vanished.. So it doesn't like to connect to 3g/4g.

Try going to your mobile network connection settings, choose access point names, hit your menu button and click "restore defaults".. It may fix it, I had data issues and it did the job. Hope it works for you!

Do what the gut above me said. Also call Tmobile and tell them, they will refresh your data connection on their end. That will clear up three problems your having.
But if it's also happening to your brothers phone, it's a network error. Call Tmobile.

I restored the apn settings and had Tmobile refresh my data connection, and it still happens. I noticed today that it's not just data, I'm also unable to call or text when it happens.. Tmobile just said everything tested normal so there is nothing they can do.. And I really don't think it's the phone so I don't want to exchange for a refurbished unless I have to.

Its happened to me before. For about a week, the data connection just dropped. It would come back for a bit and later vanish. I called t-mobile and they guided me through routine steps (i.e. taking the battery out, rebooting, resetting) but nothing seemed to work. They really couldn't figure it out and later told me to replace the SIM. I can't remember if they shipped me one or had to go to the store but either way that relieved the problem. This was on an HTC HD2.
That might not be the case with you though. At one point in time all the phones under my name lost data connectivity just as you explain. This really had no solution but to wait it out.

you mentioned your brother's is doing the same thing, its probably not the phone, but rather the cell tower your connected to is fuggin up. Try going 5 miles from where you currently are and see if its still happening.
Network error

Just in case it's not a cell tower or network problem . . . My SGS2, purchased in October, had the same symptoms as the OP. After trying everything the OP did, and more, I came to the conclusion that the firmware on the phone was corrupt. I used Odin to flash the factory stock ROM & Kernel images (2.3.5 at the time). There was a definite improvement in the faltering/hesitant/fail connectivity problem at that point, but it was still very subpar. So I then also flashed, again using Odin, the baseband ("modem") image - I did it twice for good measure. The problem was finally immediately solved at that point and I had very prompt loading of webpages, etc. Still working fine months later (and even better with a custom ROM). See the thread entitled "[Q]Is there a "true" factory restore for T-Mobile Galaxy S II?" for help about the seemingly same symptoms/problem you (and your brother) are experiencing. If your underlying problem is in fact the same as mine (and the poster of the thread I cited) then it's apparently either a bad factory flash or a post-factory corruption occurrence that is causing your problem . . . the coincidence of your brother also having the same problem aside. Good luck!

Hi xda i've had a problem with my new galaxy nexus with sending and downloading any MMS message.
Basically I noticed the issue today as it was the first time a friend sent me a mss on my new device and I could not download it. I tried messing with the APN, Auto-Receive and turning WIFI off and I still could not get it to download or send MMS so I decided it must be a issue with the device.
My phone came with stock yakjuxw 4.0.4 but I flashbooted it to 4.1 without root and ive had no issues other than this MMS issue. It is not my sim as I tried sending and receiving MMS from my old Blackberry and it worked fine.
My device is a unlocked GSM device and I am based in Australia.
Can anybody give me some insight on what to do?
EDIT: I looked at CatLog while trying to download the msg and I got the following which it kept repeating if it means anything:
GC_CONCURRENT freed
WAIT_FOR_CONCURRENT_GC BLOCKED
Ps: My first post of now many
99% of the time it's APN related.
Does your friend have an iPhone? I have horrible problems getting MMS from iPhones for some reason.

The first MMS I received yes was from a friend with an iphone but then tried sending one from a nokia and got the same issue.
It sounds stupid but could it have anything to do with me not having root?

I've experienced similar issues in the past, and had success with going into the APN settings, hitting the menu dots, and selecting the reset to default option. Send some of the settings or data got corrupt at some point (even though everything looked OK)

I have a similar problem on both of our nexuses (nexi). Mine is rooted and my wife's is 100% stock. MMS send fine most places, but anywhere that has a wifi network seems to keep the MMS from sending. The picture will just sit there with 'Sending' next to it for days before you realize it never sent. It wont even send once you leave the wifi area. If I send the message when i'm not near wifi, it sends fine. I realize this is of little help, but you're not alone anyhow.
This is my first visit since this problem and I figured out the problem was to do with my carrier. I called them and my MMS was set to use blackberry servers. They put me back on their network and its worked since

First of all this is my first time posting here on xda but have read a lot of things on this website, and i apologize if i have placed this in the wrong area.
I have seen other threads about this issue but none seem to be quite like mine.
So i had cyanogenmod on my galaxy s 3 att/rogers, I had it on my phone for a long time pretty much the entire year i have had the phone, when randomly last night my service just stopped. I cant make phone calls, text, or use data. But my wifi still works. so basically my phone turned into a tablet.
Things I have tried to fix this:
1: restored using nanndroid backup (no effect)
2: flash a different rom "PAC Rom" with its kernel (no effect)
3: Restored phone to complete factory defaults using odin (no effect)
4: Tried different SIM card in my phone to see if it would work (no effect)
5: Tried my SIM in different phones (worked)
6: Restored phone to factory default using samsung kies (no effect)
So can you see my delema? No matter what i try the service just will not activate and only says "rogers emergency calls only". this phone is only around a year old.. This isn't a common thing to happen is it?
Anyways I would be very, very happy if anyone could help me fix this problem. I apologize if i get back to you slow as i have to go to work in a couple minutes, my boss is probably going to be pissed I have no phone. :crying:
Nothing? Nothing at all?
I had similar issue I just solved. I had only lost data however. I would suggest maybe checking your apn settings. It maybe flash a modem. I was able to make calls/texts no problem but no data at all. I Google the apn settings and now everything works great

Your issue sounds very similar to those who have lost their IMEI.

Apn settings were all right. Not sure what has happened.. rogers told me the phone was toast but I have a hard time beleiving that from someone who looks at my phone for 30 seconds and says that. Either way I'm picking my note 3 up friday. Not through rogers, since they were a royal pain in my wallet. Bell ftw
Not really sure if I should mark this as solved due to the fact its not?
So a few weeks ago I installed the new 4.3 leak and everything was working fine. Then about 2-3 days ago, data stopped working. I've since fixed permissions, wiped data, flashed AOKP, Odin'd back to stock 4.1, and then down to 4.0.4 and then used the *2767*3855# method of wiping.
Nothing has worked and I have no idea what could be the problem. Can anyone help out?
Luckily I have an upgrade if I can't get this working, but hopefully I won't need to use it.
So my IMEI isn't corrupt. And Ive tried rebuilding NV data. I've tried pretty much everything in all the assorted connection issue threads.
I get an IP address from ATT but still have no connectivity.
Anyone?

Had a similar issue a few weeks ago. I have a att s3 unlocked to Tmobile. Only rom in could get data was miui all others wouldn't work. So I copied the apn settings from miui and tried them in another rom and worked. All that was missing was the hyphen in T-mobile. Try finding someone else's attention phone and see if the apn settings are the same.

Just set the APN settings to be the same as my wife's phone. Still no connection. I get full sign with the LTE indicator, but it never gets a connection.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So, weird thing... I turned data off for like 24 hours. I just turned it back on to show my wife what was going on and....magically it was working again
I don't get it...
Last time that happened to me, I just reset my APN 3 or 4 times with a reboot in between each, and eventually it worked. It's kind of a squirly thing to deal with.
Has anyone been having delayed text messages being sent and received since the update? My wife has been having this issue with her M8. It's been intermittent but it happens almost every day to her.

I have also been having this issue. Sometimes a text message takes an hour or more for me to receive it or my recipient to receive it, other times I'll receive up to 4 of the same message in quick succession. It mostly happens when I have Wi-Fi calling enabled, as text messages don't seem to play well with it. For some reason, it completely disables the cellular radio instead of working in conjunction with it. Drives me crazy.
My wife's phone has wifi calling enabled but had cellular as the preferred connection method, so it would only switch to wifi calling if there was absolutely no signal. So I don't think in her case wifi calling was the issue. I completely turned it off just in case tho. I'm having her try another messaging app just to see (Google Messenger vs. HTC stock), but I don't think that's the problem.

Also remember that the only app that can send mms messages over wifi calling is the delivered one that comes with the phone. Any 3rd party apps (like handcent, chompsms, etc) will not be able to send mms messages over wifi calling.
Hi, I had the same problem plus mms would be sent nor downloaded. I was using the messenger google app though, switched back to stock message app and it resolved the issue

I called T-Mobile and they had me clear the cache from the Messaging app, and then reset the APNs back to default. So far so good... Everything started working.

while related but unrelated, I had to do a factory reset after the lollipop update b/c my wifi was having issues that seemed random.

I don't think she's had any issues with wifi but i'm not really sure. I know yesterday I was trying to back up her phone preparing to wipe it and I saw the wifi would go out then come back on. I was about 10 feet from the router and everything else on wifi was holding steady except for the phone. Is that similar to the issues you were having?

My issue was that the wifi would connect and then drop then connect. Also some wifi AP, it would work great. To me it was just inconsistent, so I figured in for a penny in for a pound and just wiped the phone. That worked for me, but it if didn't I was planning on re-installing TWRP and some custom ROM as my bootloader was unlocked (but I was still s-on).

Any further solutions to this problem of intermittent delayed text messages? I now have 5.1.1, and use Hangouts. I also sometimes don't get calls either, it's like the cell antenna just turns off.
From what I remember a hard reset fixed the problem for my wife's phone.
