Oh why the F not. Made my purchase. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

These devices have great resale value compared to most others, at the pricetag is just too darn pretty to ignore.
After a long hard debate with myself of weather or not to get it or wait for the next one, WHY WAIT.
Pleasure to meet you all, in advance.

i gotta say, it's my first android phone and i'm loving it. I had no idea how flexible android OS can be with all those custom roms and apps for customization... Also, Nexus has a beautiful and elegant design. I have nothing to complain. Almost all bugs i've ran into i have found a workaround.

Feeling like iam in a wolves den.Dont bite me.Iam thinking of a change myself. From an SE Xperia Arc to .......?The one phone that's been on my mind is Sammys Galaxy Note and now the latest version which is due for release soon, probably in 2 months time.So which would you recommend?

you are in the gnex section most ppl will be biased. i recommend waiting for aug 29 when the note 2 is released then decided

While this Nexus isn't the latest and greatest hardware wise, you can bet dollars to donuts it will be ahead on software updates even compared to yet to be released phones such as the note 2.
This phone is future proof. Only thing that would ever stand in the way of software updates is possible limitations to hardware in the extended future.
In other words Google won't forget about it unless some crazy feature comes out that this hardware won't support.
Unlike branded phones that are generally forgotten about the moment they are released.
Only way I'll replace this thing is when it's sibling is given birth to. By that I mean the Nexus 4.

well we still got a while before that happens, not everyone upgrades when a new device comes out. this is the main reason i didnt buy the nexus among other things ,but we still got half a year before we gotta worry about development ending if it does i would assume
I meant official Samsung support. They seem to be on the "here's our new phone so we don't support anything before this one" thing. Im sure this phone will be unofficially supported by devs for much longer than Samsung will.

If they follow previous patterns, that should mean Int'l release around May, and US release between August and November. We'll be fine for some time to come.
It used to be that like a year after something came out they would announce the next best thing, its moved to as soon as the new thing is out the next best thing is announced. pretty soon its just gonna be announcement following announcement.
Guess I better hold off on the nexus then. Maybe I'll import this when it's released.
——————————
Deebo took your bike too?
I never wanted the nexus to start with.Aside from ICS nothing about that phone appeals to me
Ehh. As soon as one phone is released, another phone is getting ready to be released that is better. There is no point in waiting.
Agreed. Excellent marketing strategy though if you think about it.. Always leaves you wanting the latest and greatest. 3 million Galaxy S 2 in 55 days is no joke..

I miss my Amaze. That being said... it is taking some time for me to have the S3 feel like an extension of myself. The way my Amaze did. I honestly don't miss this phone when I leave it at home or in the car. Plus the whole issue with not being able to move apps to the external sd (grrrr)!

Yeah, the question wasn't if it's cooler, it was if it's worth it.
I mean, don't be blind, you add so and so money and you get less than so and so value. That was my intention. To tell the truth.
It is cooler, but it's more breakable, my phone has similar features, bla bla bla.
Don't get all "Appley" on me but with Samsung, it's also wrong to be blinded by one company... Even if it's not Apple...

+1. Got the S3 and slapped ParanoidAndroid on it with faux's Ultimate kernel. Hybrid mode on the size of this screen is wonderful. With the dual core S4, and PA with faux's kernel, I can't think of a better phone to have right now.

Just to know you are not alone, I got my GNex yesterday. Upgraded from my Epic. I didn't want to leave Sprint, so no N4 for me. Decided to save my upgrade for next year and buy a used Gnex off eBay. Infinitely better than my Epic and probably good enough to last me another year.
Jason
I'd prefer this phone over the n4 personally..
ignore all the hate! welcome to the forums
While I would have waited for the N4, don't worry because the Gnex kicks serious ass anyway. A lot of Gnex owners including myself aren't upgrading because the Gnex is a beast!
I'm planning to do the same. Do you think the price will go down when the N4 is released? Really low on money but I just can't take this X2 still on Gingerbread.
Sent from my MB870 using xda app-developers app
Again, you are not alone. I also jumped on this ship. Snatched a Gnex on Ebay for US$232.00 shipped. Great deal. In my case, right now i can't afford the Nexus 4 because spending US$300.00 is out of my reach. Simple as that. And even if i could spend USD$300.00, i would still consider the Gnex over the Nexus 4 because of the storage. 8Gb is waaay to low. 16gb is already low, but i think i can make it with it, but 8gb is out of the question. Not to mention that Play Store doesn't sell devices on my country, but i still wanted a Nexus device for the updates and the optimized software, so this was my only option. Im coming from a AT&T SG2. Great device but not a Nexus.

You should've waited a week. You're getting an old and much less powerful model for the same price. If you can, I would try to return it ASAP!

Well, it's goodbye!!!

With a heavy heart I am here to confess I am leaving the world of Vivow... :crying: The waiting game for updates and empty promises from HTC and Verizon both, I have made this decision to sell my Incredible 2 and never look back. With that said, I am also saying farewell to HTC completely. Not enough backing of their current lineup in my opinion. I shouldn't have to upgrade to the latest phone just to get the new build of Sense or latest build of Android. I should also not have to depend on community developers to get what I want. Oh well, it's time to cut the strings.
Dev's.. from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you all for giving us your personal time and effort into developing fun, useful, and up-to-date roms that just make us flash-aholics happy!! You will never be forgotten!!

Ah.. those issues if I remember were ROM related.. The phone has always been 100% using stock or CM7/9 ... but it's very picky about what other roms I use.. very strange device I have.. but un-rooted and stock it will be good as new.. cosmetically just a few blemishes and only one 1/4" scratch on the screen... not bad for having it and using it almost non-stop for almost 2 years now.. I have it on eBay but I'm thinking of pulling it.. almost 40 views already and 3 watchers.. unless that grows I'll probably yank it.. maybe.. I don't know..
Any thoughts on what you are hoping to get out of it?

Honestly, I think the best way to go would be an unlocked gsm nexus device because Verizon screws even nexus owners with updates. The gsm version already has official 4.2.1 yet us toro (vzw) owners only have official 4.1.1 and have to rely on custom roms for 4.2.1
