Hi, anyone knows an app or method how to clean up unused folders on Galaxy Nexus (folders from previous app installs, cache etc)? tia
Plug your phone into your PC and delete them or use Root Explorer. I'm sure you could have figured that out.

Yep I did. I was wondering if there's an app or faster way to do it =)

How could there be an app that could do this? It wouldn't know what you consider to not be worthy file.

There's an app to tell the other app what's not worthy. It's called "whatchu talkin bout willis?". It's free in the market.

Like the apps SDmaid or DiskUsage?
I believe the OP is referring to an app which removes the MANY orphaned files and folders that are left behind by apps which have been uninstalled.
I find this to also be a issue as Android seems really sloppy with cleanup of these orphaned files/folders. When I check my storage space, there are lots of folders from apps I removed weeks ago... And these are in areas I have access to. I'd hate to know what's been leftover in root areas of storage.
This sounds like a dumb question but I've never had this happen to me before. The other day I switched to Eugene's MIUI Patchrom. I was on it for about ten minutes when I realized I couldn't access my pictures. My gallery was showing a couple hundred when I have over 2000. I assumed it was the rom since it's not super stable. I restored my backup or Juggernaut and I just realized I can still not see my pictures. Surely they didn't get deleted, right? Please help because those pictures mean a lot to me. Thanks.

Have you tried connecting your phone to your computer and looking for your files that way?

Yes. The folders that they were in are now empty.

I don't know of any ROMS that will wipe the sdcard. Did you check the DCIM directory with root explorer or via USB from your PC?
Yeah I did. Like I said, the folders are still there with the names I gave them, they're just empty.

O well, have fun finding the pictures/ taking them again.
Besides the attributes getting changed by accident to hidden, I'd cough it up as a loss unless you can manage to do a file recovery program to scrape them off somehow

Probably got corrupted, do as advised and run a recovery search

O&O Software makes a really good file/folder/partition recovery program. I'd imagine it would work on sd, but im not 100% sure.. It never hurts to check
That's always my biggest worry when switching to a new ROM, because all my videos and pics are of my kids for the most part.
I personally don't know the best way to get them back, and the position you are in really sucks. What I tend to do is backup all my photos and pictures to my external SD card (32gb, so I have the space). Also make a backup on my computer and make another backup through a cloud storage program of your choice, I am currently using Drive.
I know that is a bit of overkill, but again, they are pics and vids of my kids growing up so I want to be 100% certain they don't get lost.
Hopefully you are able to find those pics, if not, perhaps my suggestion will help you in the future. Peace.
Thanks for the help, those who actually suggested something. I used some app from the gay store and it was able to recover some of my pictures, but not all. I suppose I'll just have to be more careful and make backups in the future.

So i'm ordering the GNex from Sprint on October 1st. What's the best way to copy all data to the Nexus from what my old phone will be, which is the Epic 4G Touch. Are there any apps I could use? I know that using nandroids is a definite no. Would restoring apps through aTitanium backup on my E4GT be okay to do? Or is there something easier I could use? And other than that, I could just copy all my photos and music over to the GNex, I know that. Just certain app data and game saves are what I'm worried about.
You don't need external sd... If you link your dropbox to your mobile, you will have 50gb

What I was asking is transferring App data. such as Angry Birds progress and other stuff like that. I could easily transfer SMS, pictures, and videos.
Drag and drop? Seriously, you just connect to your computer and drag and drop all the files

Box is (or was, not sure if promo is sitll on) 50 GB. Dropbox will probably give you more like 2GB+1GB for camera uploads.
Could someone take a minute and download then restore this in Titanium Backup. It's Zenonia 4 with my supposedly corrupt save file. Apparently you can't transfer Zenonia 4 save files from one device to another because it corrupts the save, and seeing as how I spent way to many hours to start all over and the last time this worked was on my S3, I'm hoping the save file will be playable on someone elses too. Let me know the results if you're willing to try. Thanks!

not to be offensive, but i dont think anybody wants to download a file that has the word "corrupt" involved.
Which app is that ?
Op,
I think you asked a question and answered it in the same post lol
Sorry to hear that you lost saved data.
You might have to start over again. :-/
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Well no because If it works on an S3 device, which I'm betting it would, the data can be exported using a feature in the main menu of the game to be backed up to Gamevil's servers and then imported onto my N4.
And to the other guy, the save file is corrupt as in you can't load up any of the characters progress, not that downloading the file will destroy your phone or anything... Smh
This whole thing takes less than a minute if anyone with a T-MO S3 would be kind enough to try..
Sorry bro, i downloaded it and placed it on my titanium folder but it wouldn't appear in Titanium.

What is changing to a new rom going to do for him? If his music is gone it's gone... Unless I'm missing something? Why isn't your music on your computer or somewhere else? How did you get it on your phone, lol? If it some where and you can't find it, pull everything from your storage places and put them on your PC and search both files with in your computer search index and see if you can find them... If they are there, then create a folder named /music and you will good to go. If they aren't there then get new music or however you got them there in the first place.
Im really getting fed up whit this ... The way it makes another folder where everything elses moves there is really nonsense i have lost all my game data's also my titanium backup

I would start putting the music somehwere other then only on phone storage, just in case. I've accidentally wiped internal storage once, and I've had External sdcards go bad or just randomly out of no where lose all data in it. make a dropbox and do TiBu once a week and move them there your self with some type of file manager if you don't wanna pay the money for Titanium Backup pro. I also bet all your stuff is there you are just looking in the wrong places. What file manager are you using to look for your "lost stuff"?

Aokp is awesome ROM. I dont mean to be rude but if you think those files are still there (in your phone) ;install different ROm or restore backup and pull al data from it. And wipe both internal and external cards. Amd install aokp and enter those files again via PC.
