Check your installed app. There maybe one or two of your apps that causes the battery drain you are saying.

I only installed titanum backup, sms backup, call log backup after rooting. Prior to rooting, my battery does not drain that fast.
I am now draining my battery to flat, to recalibrate it from 0%. How do I clear the battery status after it hits 100%?
Thanks
Did you try to recalibrate your battery?
That usually fixes your problem cause your phone might report you at X% but its actually lower than that and that shows with what looks like a battery drain.

Easiest way would be to use the free "Battery Calibration" app, available in the Store.
After that, I strongly recommend doing two or three 'battery cycles', i.e., fully charge your batteries then use it without recharging until the phone shuts down itself.
After 2 or 3 battery cycles, usually the phone has learnt enough to be more accurate.
... or, the battery might be degrading. In which case, you will need to buy a new battery.

Maybe you can try to install some juice saving apps, such as Juice Defender which I am using, or maybe Go Power Master which is also quite popular, use battery calibration software as they suggested above, good luck!

Thanks people. I will take heed. However I face a second situation now, my phone heats up very strongly when I charge using the AC adapter. However USB charging does not affect the temperature. All this started happening after my successful flashing of the MUTANT rom.
Is this normal?

I had a similar problem. I rooted stock firmware for my samsung galaxy s2. I was using it regular for months then all of a sudden a couple of days ago i was experiencing the same massive battery drain. If my phone was switched on and in standby and the AC power adaptor was plugged in, although it was charging, it was not putting enough current into the phone to charge it and the battery would continue to drain!
Also I experienced a problem with the wifi. It would get as far as obtaining an ip address but would not physically connect to my router.
Solution? I hooked it up to kies and put the latest stock firmware on. problem solved.
Am I going to root again? Not sure yet to be honest. There was only 1 or 2 things i actually used rooting for.
Hope this helps

Do bump charging instead of battery calibration. Search it on google.
-Charge your phone to 100%
-Use this battery Calibration app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=de
This app needs root
-Then let your phone discharge until it turns off itself
Notice: in this time you're not allowed to plug the phone to the pc or to the charger again until it turns off
-after it turns off plug the phone to the charger and let it charge without breaks to 100%
-Done
I recall that battery calibration was bogus, there was a post which explained why it was bogus in detail. In other words, don't bother, but charge your battery around 50% if you want a healthy battery.

http://bit.ly/KZdfJJ - Why cant you just google it like he said?
also you can go to recovery and select wipe batterystats.bin
Calibrating your battery does not give you extra battery life, just improves the battery level indicator. Android calibrates battery itself anyway (when battery info change to a few seconds)
batter calibration is of no use i have tested it many times on many roms. our ace has not a good battery. so follow common steps like brightness to 0, application background off etc etc.

thnx will do as u suggested
There is a way to get good battery life in miracle v4 but it took me about 5 days now I get 16 hours off battery with heavy use and about 22 hours for normal use
How I did this
1.let your battery totally die
2.leave your phone off and give full charge
3.still with your charger pluged in boot to cwm recovery
4.now select advanced then wipe battery status
5.now still with with charger pluged in reboot you phone
6.when your phone is fully booted remove charger(you will notice the battery will drop to about 86% in about 10 mins the first time but will get better each time you repeat all these step)
NOTE:I have done this on my wife's s.g.ace with rom miracle v4
And on my Sony Ericsson x8 with many different Rom's
And on my friends Sony Ericsson x10i with many different rom's
YOU MUST USE MAINS CHARGER NOT USB FROM P.C OR LAPTOP AS USB WILL ONLY TRICKLE CHARGE.
If this helped hit the thanks button

People with a IQ of 200+ also was it not google that said android would be lag free from 2.2+ and if that's the case what is the point in developing faster rom's of which all rom's here

+1 to the battery monitor widget.. i use that too
Okay, I am having a very frustrating problem that I did not originally have. My phone can last me half the day!! It is very frustrating to have my phone turn off on me everyday at 5 pm ..I love this phone but this is unbearable, especially considering that this is with very, very, very minimal use. If I actually use it the phone intensely, it will drain completely in 1.5 hours. ..It was not this bad a couple of months ago.
I have bullet kernel, and stock GB rom (2.3.5)
I had it always used it on "lag free" setting OC to 1.6 but I changed it to conservative mode to try and see if that would help and it didn't. I even used the core sleeper script from the developer's section and that didn't help either. I had changed radios a number of times when I was tinkering with custom ICS roms. I got my gf this phone a few weeks ago and put the same setup on the phone and she is getting the same battery life. I bought it used.
Does anyone have any suggestions!?? ...I would really appreciate it
You can extend battery life anumber of ways.. Tell me what Is on bt by wifi sync the screen ways ths most energy so turn that down as low a you can... Sounds like you are on an old ROM ...prolly eagles blood?
I suggest digital warfare 2.7 if you are on TMobile. Great battery life. Also flash your radio before your ROM and make sure you are flashing over a clean slate.

I am running on the Stock ROM with android 2.3.5
I am running off a nandroid backup I had restored after having an ICS rom on the phone for a few days. I used darkside superwipe, then flashed radio, then restored the ROM backup.
I always keep GPS, wifi and bluetooth off when I am not using them. I keep wifi on if I know I will be home for the day so I can use that instead of 4G ...I keep my brightness on the lowest setting.
Even with the sleeper core script, turning off 1 core, its still drains out at over 7% per hour without ever even touching the phone. Something is definitely wrong because I read people on the Sleeper Core thread saying they lost 3% in about 6 hours of standby with the script running.
the battery really should be in good condition because the phone is less than 8 months old and I frequently switch between a backup battery (cheap eBay battery), so that should preserve the original a little and even w/o the 2nd battery, the battery shouldn't need replacement this soon.
Have you tried using an app like Badass Battery Monitor to check what's app or process is eating up your battery?
Also, does your spare battery die quickly as well?

No, I haven't used a 3rd party battery monitor app, I just look at the system menu section that tells me what things are using battery and it is says my screen is using 50% ...my spare battery dies very very quickly. But it always has died this quick since the day I bought it because it is a crappy Chinese battery from eBay that I bought for $4 ...the first few times I used it, it would last about half as long as my original samsung battery
You should try to forget about the extra battery... and charge your phone while off then after ten or more mins of it being fully charged unplug then wait and plug back in to charger... It will likely charge again for a minute... Do that little cycle to get a full charge. After i do that i enter CWM and reset batty stats. There is more on this if you google it.

Not that I know of, its running CM10 Euroskank.
I also noticed that when I plug it in to the charger it takes about 10 seconds for it to recognize that I plugged it in and start charging.
I had a similar issue on the GSM 4.1.1 stock ROM where the battery voltage was being misreported (using Battery Monitor Widget to check values). Sometimes the voltage didn't decrease with use; sometimes it even increased without being charged - your battery graph seems to show this too.
This problem developed literally overnight and didn't rectify itself over multiple charge/discharge cycles. I changed ROMs to see what would happen and to my relief there were no further problems.
As an option you could try clearing the battery stats in recovery.
Given that a few people in this forum have had sudden battery weirdness, and that a fresh ROM fixed it for me, I suspect there's a rare software bug at work here...

-1 on the clearing of battery stats. It has absolutely nothing to do with it. He'd get the exact same results by changing his ringtone or something else that's totally irrelevant.
Battery stats has nothing to do with the reported percentage of battery. It cannot cause power problems. And it will not affect battery life.
How is it that the wives' tale of clearing battery stats still persists despite the fact that a Google engineer has debunked the myth and that debunking has received wide publicity within the android community?

I had a very similar problem with galaxy s2. My symptoms were that it thought it was charging when it wasn't, it thought it was usb connected when it wasn't, and my battery graph would just show one long spikey graph for as long as the phone was on. I posted it up and someone clever identified the problem straight away; a short in the usb charging area.
Have you ever spilt any liquid near the usb charging port? It's a replaceable part and I'm sure it's available from the usual place (ie. Ebay).

Wiping battery stats does nothing..absolutely nothing. As system is deleting stats every time you unplug your phone @ 90-100% of battery. Wiping it just makes your battery information/calculations go berserk.
You could try can install with fresh rom. I suggest trying slimbean, full stock or with Franco's kernel. Also consider changing your radio/ril if you're in area with bad reception, 'cos it'll drain your battery also.
I'm doing easily 14-20h uptime with 3-4,5h screen on time with slimbean+franco. Idle drain is about 1%/2-3h (no sync, data nor wifi).

If you're referring to a some kind of an app which shows you battery drain, be noted that those figures are fully hypothetical since there isn't a way to measure power consumption inside the phone. Figures are made by algorithm with some data from spec sheets, Android battery stats, etc. It can give you some hints but can't be blindly trusted.
And I have had tested several radios with my ex-SGS and saw that wrong radio had huge impact to idle drain, especially in the low signal strength areas. If course CPU and screen are still the main drainers, but imho radio can't be left without notice..

Flashed to leaked Jelly Bean OTA and trinity kernel still draining like buckets. Got a a battery on order so hopefully that fixes it. Its not a CPU issue as its in deep sleep 80% of the time. Even in Airplane mode its draining at 5-10% an hour
Also 20mins drained 4% using stock 4.0.4 no apps installed. Completely idle
Reflashed to 4.0.4 but unchecked keep my phone backed up to Google and Restore from google and now only draining at about 2% an hour in standby. Now Im running eclipse with leanKernal and getting 1% an hour drain

So it was that backup service what kept your phone awake/running at higher CPU speeds. For a next time, go and grab BetterBatteryStats from chamonix's XDA thread. Ah okay, then it's little weird since backup service has always appeared in wakelocks and that's how it has been easily founded as a culprit for drain. But anyway, your problem is solved and therefore case is kind of closed

I've had my Galaxy W for just over a year. Whilst I was running the stock ROM I would more or less get a full day out of the battery. I upgraded rooted my device and installed the Cyanogen CM9 rc2 ROM. I don't recall any battery problems at first, but just over a week ago it started draining within five or six hours. This happened every day for a week.
Since then I have uninstaleld all apps (apart from Google Authenticator which I couldn't manage without), turned off wifi, bluetooth and everything else I could think of. Now I seem to be getting about 36 hours out of the battery... Although I think it goes from 35% down to 10% very, very quickly.
Leaving all data connections off and having no apps is okay in the short term, but is there a long term software solution?

Not immediately, but about a week later. Is it worth going through that process again?
Edit:

I don't know enough about this, but I expected that the phone would spend a higher percentage of it's time in 'deep sleep' than that.

For battery problem is either the phone calibrated wrong readings on the battery or the battery it self is the problem.
If you use your phone not too often but the deep sleep only reach 34% of the time then some apps is preventing the deep sleep, try to check what apps is that causes that with some battery stats app, try search it in xda or market

I've gone for Battery Stats Plus. I'll reenable wifi, bluetooth and 3G for a few days and see what happens. If that takes a toll on the battery I will post back with details from Battery Stats Plus.
I will also take the battery out later to inspect it.
Update:
My battery had 15-20% remaining and I turned it off, and tried to turn it back on. It now thinks that it does not have enough power to boot the phone. I don't know if that new information is helpful or not.

With 15 - 20% it should have boot, because it still have juice left. What about your battery physics? Is it bloating or just normal?

Took the battery out this morning for a proper look. There's definitely some bloating. Time to get looking for a replacement battery?
Could there be two issues here? As from the screenshots I posted the phone doesn't seem to have spent a lot of time in deep sleep.
I was just watching a YouTube video, with about 70% battery. The phone turned off, and when I've turned it back on it's gone down to 2%.
Could this be down to an improperly calibrated battery, or is it purely down to the physical damage/bloating to the battery?

Thanks for your advice.
I'm going to install Battery Calibration by Nema from Google Play. I'll see how I get on with that.
I'm going to order a replacement battery this week. I'm looking for a direct replacement, with an official Samsung battery. I have posted here in the Accessories forum. I hope that was the right place to put it.
After I install the CM10 alpha 6 conform to the first post, the battery life of my cellphone has been drained very fast - 21% about 6 hours and half.
Can anyone help me, please? I already did the battery calibration and I can't see effects. I'm wondering if is better install CM 9 or just go back to the android 2.3.6 factory version of my cellphone.

Your battery is bloated? Then you *must* replace it. Period.
A damaged battery is the root cause of myriads of problems. Until that battery is replaced, you _will_ experience all kinds of annoyances, no matter what ROM/Kernel you're using, including inexplicable battery drain.

My cellphone is 1 year and half old. On android factory version the battery last for about 30 hours. In CM10 the battery don't last more than 12 hours.
