Wildfire
Rom: Stock 2.2.1
Kernal: Stock
Radio: Stock
Hboot: hboot 1.30.0000
S-on
A friend of mine recently purchased a Wildfire through the Hawaiian cell provider Mobi PCS and I offered to flash CM7 for him. However when I checked the hboot version it was 1.30.0000, looking through these forums and through googling I can only find passing mention of this hboot version. Does anyone know if the posted hboot downgrade process works for this hboot, or is he stuck S-on? Can you flash CM7 to the Wildfire without S-off?
hmmm

hmm. a new wildfire hboot in the wild. this is unexpected at this late stage for this device. but given that it is released so late on it should be htc dev compatible. this will not s-0ff the device, but it will unlock the bootloader and allow you to flash cm7. just unlock the bootloader with the link above. then fastboot flash clockworkmod recovery 3.x.x.x then flash the cm7 rom. rembering to back up!!
this will void your warrenty
also for confirmation can you please post a pic of the hboot for me please
good luck

I heard there was a 1.30 software version for the Wildfire S, not the HBOOT, because a new HBOOT at this stage of the Wildfire would be extremely unlikely, unless my April Fool's joke came true and HTC are releasing a late GB for the Wildfire!

That's what I thought first when I read the OP - but he writes
Code:

and this notation in return is bit unusual for a software version, isn't it?

Could it be an issue or something with the downgrade and how the hell to resolve this on Vision?

Irrelevant, any g2 rom will work with the dz hboot. Status 7 error means that when you flashed the rom the updater-script could not correctly identify your device as 'vision'. What this normally means is that you are flashing a rom that is not designed for your device. Can you give us a link to the download please

All the info in that screen is defined in build.prop. what it looks like is that you are using a port which has been done half arsed. Which brings me back to my original conclusion that you got the status 7 error because you flashed a rom that was not designed for your device

making a change in the build prop won't mean the from flashes correctly. If he is getting a status 7 error it means the rom he is flashing is not for the Vision. The info in about phone has no play on what goes on in recovery.

I changed all of the fields from glacier to vision, but it still not flashing.
I would like to notice, that when I flash I get weird errors with texts that I saw in the build.prop. Something like ro.device.name==vision.... Basicly it says error getting prop... Or something with the prop... How can the Rom be not for my device if I downloaded it from Official cm page... For VISION.
Something is clearly messed up here...

ok, i would do the following:
1. download cm7 from here (if you havenĀ“t already) and put it on your sdcard:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=vision
then download superwipe and pu it on your sdcard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044992
enter recovery (power & volume down) flash the superwipe .zip and afterwards wipe data & cache & dalvik cache through recovery
then do a fresh install (cm7)
good luck and if it worked pls hit the thanks button
This is getting more and more interesting... I can't install superwhipe. I get the exact same error I get on cm...
Is my Vision mutated to glacier? I just don't know what to do...

Your problem is that you have the wrong radio. The link to the tutorial that was given to you is only going to work if you have a compatible radio if you rooted with unrevoked, and not Revolutionary.
If you insist on turning the phone to S-ON, here are all the files that you would need, in order. They all should be placed on your sdcard. The first one should be ran through your bootloader to give you a custom recovery if you don't already have one. The second and third should be flashed through the custom recovery in order. That should give you S-ON. The last one is just a stock ROM which should be changed to the name PC36IMG if you should need it.

S-off is more dangerous than a regular unlock. When the secure flag is off, you can flash anything to any partition. You can even flash unsigned things like decrypted ruu files... Which is what you would need to attain sense 6 when not on Verizon towers. We do not have an official sense 6 ruu from HTC directly, only the decrypted one which is why you should stay s-off in case you would need to ruu again.
For the ota zip, you would need root anyway to put the file into the correct directory to update. Might as well just s-off and ruu. It would be less of a pain than moving the ota file and setting correct permissions.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Free mobile app
S-off means security off this means you will be able to flash any ruu even if it is not encrypted, ill recommend you s-off it as it will be easier to update your phone in future s-off dose not root it's just a security feature to protect phone from modifications
hmm. Got it. And If I update and then s-on it. What will happen. Will it brick my htc?

No, it will not, but I highly suggest starting s-off until an official encrypted ruu is released. If you ever run into an issue and need to ruu while s-on, you would be sol.

S-off will allow you to do anything. Flash custom recoveries, flash firmware, flash roms, flash zip packages(like root).
Use weaksauce to gain temproot then firewater to get s-off. There is a pinned thread on how to do it in the original development section.
Once you do that, you can flash any rom you want, I personally recommend Santod's GPE 4.4.4, or CM11, or Nusense 6 depending on your taste.
Also - there is no reason to EVER go back to s-on. S-on just means you don't have access to the system. Being s-off will not prevent you from doing anything with the phone, and will allow you to load any RUU file in case you f up your bootloader somehow. The ONLY reason to ever go back to s-on, once you attain s-off, is to return for a warranty replacement if you end up with a hardware defect down the line.
