Nova Launcher vs Apex Launcher - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

For those of you who have tried both, which one is faster, smoother and more responsive?

Nova seems to be the fastest if you change the scroll and animation speed but unlike Nova, Apex offers some basic swipe gestures without needing to pay for the pro version.

Thanks. Btw, if you install a 3rd party launcher, do you lose the "Motion" functions in Touchwiz and the swipe to text or call in contacts?

Anyone know how to get the stock TouchWiz clock with weather back with Nova?

deleted

the latest nova beta is based off the jellybean launcher and is fantastic. on cm10, it's absolutely the fastest and most fluid launcher i've ever used. i bought the pro version and have not regretted it. there are more gesture options than Apex the last time i checked.

i've had both and i find nova to be smoother than apex. too bad i paid for the pro version of apex which i loved on the GS2.

This may have been answered elsewhere, so I apologize if it has.
Do y'all know if icon packs for Apex (specifically the flat icon pack) work in Nova? I'm willing to hand over the $1 for an icon pack, but only if I know it will work with my launcher.

Icons made specifically for Apex won't work...such as the flat icons by mitchs.co
I know this because I have the same set. The only option is to get the ADW or Go Theme set but those aren't as up to date like the Apex one

I've paid for and used Launcher Pro and ADW EX each for months, then I saw saw the thread here on sslauncher. Free, and amazing. I'm never going back to the others.
Launcher Pro was my favorite, but it is becoming outdated due to lack of updates. GO Launcher EX has great features and is free. ADW EX is also good but it is a paid app. I would go with GO Launcher EX. Its fast, lots of customization, and its free.
I actually like TW compared to the others I tried (which is about all of them). I like to be able to touch the dots to change screens instead of swiping. I can go from homescreen 1 to 5 with just one touch. Same with the app drawer. I have 12 pages of apps. I don't need to keep swiping from one page to the other to get through them all, or if I have it on continuous, I don't have to scroll from top to bottom. If I'm on page 1, and I need page 10, I just tap that dot.
I like Go better than all the rest. I like the ease of being able to long press an icon and then being able to delete from screen, change the icon, or add a gesture on the homescreen.
I also like the fact that in the app drawer you can hide apps from showing without having to freeze them using titanium backup. I use this to keep my app drawer organized. I hide all the apps in the app drawer that i have in my dock. No point in having them show up in 2 places.
Also with Go you can have up to 3 docks. you just swipe left or right to get to more apps on the dock. I use this to keep my homescreen as clean looking as possible.
ADW Launcher EX is great! But on ICS I use APEX, Nova Prime, and sometimes Trebuchet, but I only have ICS on my Kindle Fire right now so I can't get the full experience on my phone. ADW Launcher EX can be themed in multiple ways, I use the ICS theme on my phone. So basically use ADW!

You could be right and I agree with you regarding Nova. I love it!!
I like it better than Apex also. With Apex you can only save one backup of your settings and screen configuration. Nova lets you save as many as you want and you can rename the backups. It also does a better job of restoring IMO. In my settings there is a blue Prime banner on the option for Drawer Groups where you create the folders.

I was going to say it was smoother and maybe a bit faster than Apex. I think people say they like Apex better because they don't have to pay to get the Prime features. I was happy to pay for it since I have used it since beta 1. It was even great in the beginning. It was the only launcher that could pull me away from ADW EX. They did finally add swipe to hide dock which I did email them about because it was the only thing I was missing. I love being able to have a completely clean screen

Hands down Apex Launcher, I used Nova when I first put ICS on my phone but then the developers created a paid version and put all of the good stuff into the paid only. Apex has all those same features in the free version and offers only some neat little additions in their paid version that won't sway the people that don't want to buy it. It's also very quick.

So, what launcher are you guys using?

I'm irritated. I bought Nova Prime two months back and it is a great launcher, lite and so smooth. But I just found wallpaper cropping issue two days back and now I won't use it until it's fixed.
I tried Apex then, well it has homescreen transparency bug, dock scrolling is terribly laggy, as well as folder opening.
Then I tried Go, and that infamous App drawer lag problem still exists!
Just some hours ago I gave a try to ADW and it too has wallpaper cropping issue.
I'm back to TW now, it's the fastest and smoothest no doubt, but no customized icons, below average app drawer, no homescreen grid customisation and stuffs.
I need something which will be light and works fast, and NO bugs. So what you guys are using?

Same here! I've tried all these launchers along with Holo hd and Atom launcher but the best one out of these imo is Nova prime with no stutter/lag. But I can't find an option to customise the app drawer grid layout (which is fixed at 4x5) wasting a lot of space. So, back to stock TW, fastest & smoothest but ugly big icons imo !

+1, i also use TSF shell, the new version allowed you to customized the icon as well and for drawer side, u can customize the number of row and columns. the best part and the part that i loved the most is the folder image, so nice, rather than just a square box represent a folder. regarding the home screen icon setting and placement are way to customize, u can just arrange or rotate around the icon as you wish and u even can use the grid line in order to arrange your symmetric. Believe me, the best launcher that i ever had use.
the second launcher i would recommend is either GO or SPB shell 3D.
you choose buddy.

Battle of the Launchers. Is Nova Prime still King?

Hi everybody,
The Launcher plays a huge role in a smartphone experience. It can enhance it or break it. There is a multitude of new Launchers out there and of course I haven' try them all. I've been using Nova Prime as my home screen launcher for quite some time now. I tried Apex, Go Launcher, SPB Shell and more but I always come back to Nova. I just love the gesture and speed this lightweight launcher can give.
So what is your preferred launcher and WHY? Which one do you think should be called the KING of Launcher?

TSF shell have some cool widgets and can have some unconventional nice layout IF they could only come out with a bugless version.
Now using Launcher 8, kinda cool and different. Really like it for now.
