I started the rooting process a week or so ago and my friend told me about htcdev, and sent me a 1 click rooted he had and told me what to do. I unlocked my bootloader and tried rooting with no success, after stumbling around different forums I came across a guide here. Prototype7s guide, I got down past flashing a custom recovery over to my dinc2 and I kept getting an error. So I looked around somemore and found someone who had relocked their phone and tacorooted it. I tried that and can't load the recovery because I still have the 4ext recovery installed. I tried downloading a new dinc2 Rom I found on this site but it wouldn't update the phones Rom, so basically I'm asking how can I get my phone back to stock recovery so I can tacoroot?

I'm completely lost on what to do. I've formatted my sdcard and started over, re unlocked my phone and tried downgrading through the htcdev unlock guide. And my cmd keeps giving me this error

and if I relock my phone and attempt tacoroot I can't get past ".../tacoroot.sh --setup" because of says there is no recovery. I've posted/looked around multiple forums with no help. Would a factory reset/relock and tacoroot do it?

DoomLord probably didn't reply because your pm sounded a bit cheeky. It's not like he owes you anything, he makes these kernels for us for FREE in his own spare time. I for one am very thankful of that.
Anyway, can you tell us the exact steps you're taking when flashing a kernel?
Maybe you do something wrong, my phone is R800i too and everything is working fine for me. And it's maybe about... 1 minute to flash new kernel in my case.
Write step-by-step what do you do when you flash your kernel. Literally - include cmd lines, and every single thing you do with your phone.
I've tried flashing kernels via both fastboot with the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img or whatever the name is" and then doing a fastboot reboot and also tried flashing lights via Flashtool made by DoomLorD and Androxyde. Same results via both the methods.

Try "fastboot -i 0x0fce flash boot boot.img"
Shall try in sometime and report.

I have been trying to help a friend with a problem she's been having for the past couple weeks.
I tried searching from app but no luck.
Her Epic 4G Touch is on stock GB (unrooted no plans to root). The phone will all the sudden give a no service notification then requires a reboot to get service back.
It also will randomly shut itself off then restart with much lower battery. If you plug it in then reboot the battery jumps back up.

I would say since its not rooted for her to take her phone it to sprint and have a tech look at it. How old is the battery?
She took it to sprint and they said there is nothing wrong. That's why I was trying to help. The battery isn't even a year yet. I'm starting to think she may just need to keep harassing them till they admit it's bad.

You can try to update it to FF18 (ICS) no root and see if that helps. that way you can limit it down to either battery or software issue.
We'll have to try that soon as the update pushes to the phone

If you look in the dev section they have the OTA update and QBKing77 has a video on how to push it manually. in the vidoe description has the link to the FF18 OTA version(No Root) But here is the rooted version too.

Should have posted this in Q&A. If you have have CWM recovery that update won't go through, have to have stock recovery. You can update your baseband here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787677. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CLOSELY AS WRITING A RADIO IS SUPER RISKY. If you goto lg2, theres a patch to fix the searchbar. If you go directly to lg8 , which is the latest, there is apost I recall seeing that has the search apk file you can install manually.
Ya I didn't think about that until after I posted it.

Today I decided to root my One V. And I ran into a problem. I followed the instructions in this guide and everything went OK. Until I tried flashing a custom ROM.
Here's how it was:
I downloaded PA, started ROM Manager, went to flash my device and when it should go to recovery, well, it didn't. This was the screen I saw.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Restarted my phone, pulled up ROM Manager again and when I tried to fix permissions, I saw this:
And always when I try to go to Recovery, I end up looking at the same screen as in the first image (and I get nowhere)
I have no idea what's wrong, any similar problems around here, any solutions?
Dude here be happy just do what v it says

The ffirst image is normal it will pop up because of it not having stock boot.img as for the second one I'm not sure if can't use a computer to flash a recovery via boot loader I would suggest getting goomanager and try to flash a temp twrp recovery and use thatjust make sure it is for our phones screen its a high resolution screen

http://goo.im/ v here its the link
the screen with red letters is normal....it shows that you are either entering recovery, or that u have installed custom firmware or a custom kernel on your device....as of the second photo, i dont use rom manager it uses fake flash technique...always do things manually dont do via rom manager...or do it through commands....
I would like to say first that i searched around the forums and google first and found little to no luck in finding unroot files for odin. It's a SGH-I317
I rooted my phone today (yay)
Downloaded a font installer app today too ( I should have read the reviews, but it worked perfectly on my rooted infuse so i thought why not )
And i should have looked up a unroot method before i rooted(my fault)
Anyways... to me, the advice posted on the forum were apps to unroot from the phone, not for emergency resets that require the computer
Now i cant get past the samsung logo and its stuck on that when i turn on my phone.
What i did do:
downloaded this: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=8301

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
But it failed. Now im not a complete noob, but i still need some help from the more experienced users . Im not sure if im missing the proper files or if im pressing the wrong buttons or what. Please help me :angel:
You posting in the wrong section homie. You read everything but the rules:thumbup: chances are you wont find any help here.

Ahh sorry about that, wasn't sure if it was supposed to go into a Q/A or general.
Turns out i left samsung kies open while unrooting. Now my phone is running smoothly again. I would recommend downloading from sammobile.com for those who are experiencing the same issue
