[Review] Official Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Folio Case

Yes most may not even know this exists, but I got my hands on one of these, needless to say I'm totally loving this.
The case is made out of a rexine like material, feels great in the hands and has a very grippy feel to it.

The Tab clips on to the tab quite securely so you have a peace of mind there. It also has two step vertical inclinement steps to let you hold the tab in place while you use a hardware keyboard to make your typing easy. But what if you prefer laying your tablet at a lesser angle, closer to the surface? never mind this case has that covered as well, the back of the case has a pop out stand to allow you to do so.

It does how ever quite much to the weight (not sure how much) but doesn't seem to add much to the thickness. the tablet still feels great to handle.
Short review - I'd give a 8/10 for the whole experience, I'm also willing to answer any question that one may have regarding this case.

Honestly I'm not sure, I got it along with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 when I bought it - I was told it is the "Premium Cover" and it was free for everyone who bought it when they pre-booked it

because this isn't the Book case, its a folio case - check the additional pics - its way different !

How come your tab says Samsung on it? My bezel is all black with no Samsung on it. Is that the lte?

Just a note... I'm not sure this is an official case. The first model Samsung made had a thicker profile, which was shortly replaced after with the current one.

It's a 3G model, however I've seen wifi only that say Samsung as well.

No this was specifically made for Tab 10.1 - I was told it is only for people who prebook the device in this region. I'm not sure if they are selling the case separately.

You have the USA model. Rest of the world generally gets a Samsung on the front.

I want this case. It looks like a folio version of the bookcover case. Anyone know where to find these?

Does it have some sort of snap-shut mechanism when in the closed position?

I have found a replica for this case. It's on Gmarket (English Version) and it's called the Anymode VIP Case. It comes in 4 different colors (green seems hard to find). It is around $70 shipped! I'm still considering it as I'm scared of its weight. Looks a bit on the heavy side despite of the descriptions.

Yes it does add to the weight, but not a lot - at least for the official folio case, can't say the same for the Anymode case

Any way I can get a discount for doing an in-depth review?! I would love to own this case as it seems to answer all my needs. But forking over $70 is a bit too rich for me. =/

I bought an IPad stand for my 7 inch Galaxy Tab P1000 and although it is a bit big it supports the Tab in portrait and landscape mode and allows the free flow of air around the Tab which helps to keep it cool and the viewing angle can also be adjusted.
I've discovered a similar stand for the IPhone which I think would also work in the same way for the Galaxy Note but can only find one UK supplier (see link below) but it is not in stock. Does anyone know anywhere else this stand can be bought in the UK?

In spite of receiving a confirmation of order email from MobileFun giving order details it appears they are now out of stock again and I won't be getting one.

Yep, I have one too. Love it.

Just like with my SGS2, the Samsung's spare battery charger for the Note is simple, light, convenient for carrying a spare battery, and works great as a stand--vertical or horizontal. It's a proportionally larger version of the same SGS2 accessory.

Nice. I like the stand in the OP. Ordered from Brando as did others, cheaper and in stock, any idea how long they take to deliver to the UK...?

Looks nice, but it weighs as much as a regular phone!

I actually use the flip cover as a stand. I have attached a lanyard to the speaker grille and the flip cover nestles in an indent on the lanyard.

It just occurred to me that the Tetrax X-way, which I bought for my car, would be quite functional as a phone stand. I suppose the rubber is a bit too soft and it'll get smashed up though.

I have just received my stand from Mobile Fun and it is amazing. The quality and design are unbelievably good and it is great for holding the Note horizontal for viewing Web pages or movies. I sit mine on a high level fold-up table and it looks just like a miniature tablet.

Is the Tab 10.1 compatible with Note 10.1 accessories?

I saw the Galaxy Note 10.1 bookcover case and I just was interested in seeing if any one else wants that case. And if you think the dimensions are the same as our original TAB, so we can use it.
I have the redesigned Tab2 flip case and it fits my original Tab perfectly (except it covers the flash on the back camera, but who uses that anyway!)
But one thing that bugs the heck out of me is when I angle it as a easel to type, the lip doesn't stay in the groove (guess it's not deep enough) and it falls flat with the slightest bit of weight from my wrist.
So I am really feeling this revision 3 design of the book cover case. I'm just hoping that it will work with our TAB.

I think it is the same too, just from the fact that my original 10.1 fits in the 10.1 2 case (wow, really Samsung?!) And I believe the dimensions are the same for the note and the 10.1 2. I will find out when the case is released. I believe it will be around September 5 or so. And I'll report back.

Tab 10.1 is not compatible with Note 10.1 accessories, i find a good and cheap Smart Cover for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1,

Sorry it took so long to reply (moving from California to Florida) but here are the pictures you requested.
It fits perfectly on my Tab, but I did add a little rubber "foot" as you can see on the last image to kinda stop it from collapsing down when I use it and typing mode.
(BTW, still checking Samsung website and calling bestbuy for the note case, so when it comes in, I'll post pics.)

There are two different tablets, so the accessories are different...

I think It would fall out, since its about 1 cm wider than the 10.1 ....

It's not the OEM stylus.

It's actually the pen with the eraser. You can buy it in the U.S (for a lot less) here...

I've asked this a couple of times but no one's answered. Here's the description of the original S-Pen and the one with the eraser.
GALAXY NOTE 10.1IN S PEN 6.5PI FOR BUILT-IN PEN SLOT
GALAXY 10.1 NOTE BLACK S PEN 8PI 2 PLASTIC 2EA 3 RUBBER 3EA TOOL
One says "6.5 PI" and the other "8 PI." I'm guessing PI stands for "per inch." If so, the one with the eraser would/could/should be more accurate.

My main concern is whether this ebay seller is selling the true geuine samsung product , or just some poor quality clones. Did anyone buy from them before?

Why have it shipped from HK? The link I posted is the same pen cheaper available from a U.S. reseller. They're do in on the 17th.

I got this from BLT regarding the Book Cover today.

Weird. The Gray cover from BLT was only $30.11 + $2 handling, with free shipping. Seems surprising that the white cover is more.

None taken. Which is why I said they're due in on the 17th. Hope you find what you're looking for.

If you look at the youtube clips of when the note 10.1 was first showcased 8 months ago this is the pen it was going to be bundled with. Then they obv pulled the release and redesigned it to have the built-in s-pen.
I need a bigger stylus so hoping this will be the one for me, i keep acidentally pressing the function button too which is really annoying if you are taking notes.

Please do, I am very interested in how it performs.
I bought a Lenovo X60 pen and the alignment is too far out when tilted a bit to actually use comfortably, and the one i have seems unable to start a thin line, but it can make a like thin toward the end.
I really hope the ET-S200EBE (or ET-S200EBEG) it is is as accurate in position and pressure as the pen that comes with our GNote10. If so I will buy some of them. :fingers-crossed:

I think that this is very RUDE of samsung. I was quite excited about this one until I realized that it is not actally a GT-N80xx accessory. I think they should be clear about what it is, a Galaxy Note acessory that happens to work with the Galaxy Note 10.1

It's gonna be at least 2 weeks. Slow these days not sure why

Some good some bad.
I've never seen a online shop that requested the name of the bank on card.

Guys it seems logitech has a new keyboard for the Tab 4 on pre order. The size differences between this and the 10.1 2014 is very similar according to phonearena. What do you think?

I don't mind the spen being covered as long as the rest functions. I can use the pen outside of the device as long as the rest all fits and works.. I will get it as soon as it's available through Amazon. So I can return it incase it doesn't fit

That is sexy. Maybe even a little modification will help with the SPen.

It would also cover up the camera flash.

Ok, I purchased the Logitech tab 4 keyboard from BB yesterday. It does cover the SPen, therefore I put the SPen in the elastic attachment. Camera is covered, doesn't really bother me, I'm not going to take pictures with my 2014 Note. It doesn't fit perfectly (off ~0.5cm), but it works. I'm going to try a modification to the case (w/o damaging it), to see if I can get a tighter fit. Keyboard works well, however, I am still evaluating this purchase, I will try to keep you posted, once I have implemented mods.

If SPen and Camera is covered -this case can not be called suitable for our Galaxy Note 10.1 2014. Too bad !

Unfortunately, the Logitech Tab 4 keyboard didn't work well for me. Besides the prior information that previous posters provided (i.e. camera covered, etc.) The USB was covered, the 2014 Note also didn't fit well, even with a mod it wouldn't fit on the top clips like the Tab 4, therefore I returned the item. If you have a Tab 4 and require a keyboard this is the one, I saw someone at BB purchasing the Tab 4 and placing it into the Logitech keyboard and it looked really nice, of course YMMV.

Samsung really screwed us all in the rear with the 2014 note....damn

There is a new Beilkin QODE Universal Keyboard Case F5L170 which is supposed to fit the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition.

Solved the problem. I returned my 10.1 Note and upgraded to the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (on sale @ Costco, BB price match) and bought the Logitech 12.2 Keyboard (also on sale) . I thought it would be too heavy and large, au contraire.

Three months of use this keyboard (aliexpress.com/item/Ultra-Slim-Black-Wireless-Bluetooth-Keyboard-Case-Dock-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-10-1-2014-Edition/1578657151.html). Very satisfied. In the less than 1 year time span, Samsung released 3 new tablet lines..how will companies know which to produce cases for that will make them profits? But yes I agree..Samsung screwed over everyone that bought this device.nothing but problems

I got one of these off eBay. It's a great idea but the quality just isn't there. A few of the keys are already falling off. I would love to pay $50+ for something like this but a bit better built.
