Hello fellow XDA-members.
First of all, i am not sure if this is the right place to put it; please move it, if it isn't .
I am enjoying my Nexus 7, but want to customize my homescreen even more. The problem is, that i am not very good with photoshop, and don't really have the skills to do what i want done.
Therefore, i hope that one of you kind mens can help me with what i am searching for.
Basically, i need 5 images, that shall each be one of my homescreens.
I have a very specific idea in my head, with each homescreen being kind of a room in my own little house.
To explain further, i have tried drawing a paper explaining what i need on the 5 pages, and have also included a picture of my own attempt for one of the pages.
Oh, and if somebody didn't know, the Nexus uses 1280x800, but there's a small bar in the bottom too .
I really hope that i can get some help, it would be greatly appreciated!

My attempt:
It's the danish words in the top of the bar, meaning; Movies, Games, Home, Social and Music
I hope ya'll get the idea and want to contribute .
Thanks in advance
I can't promise a speedy result (this is a pretty crazy time of year in my office), however I'm willing to give it a shot in my free time later this week.
I'll let you know.

Sounds great!!
I think the problem you are going to run into is that the wallpaper only scrolls a small amount of when you change home screens. That being said maybe resizeable widgets would be the way to go. I have no experience building widgets but I think they will give you the results you are looking for. If I am wrong someone please correct me. This is a very interesting concept. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

The thing is, that there is a app, socalled "Multipicture live wallpaper" that will do the job . Here you can select 5 difference wallpapers, and they will then fit on each their screen

I had the same problem at first, then i found out how to do. Under the setting, find the "Advanced settings", then go to "Workaround for some home application" and choose "Force 5 screens". That's how i made it work, after it changed two screens between every swipe in the beginning

problem is with that though, is that if you use the gingerbread one, it's going to look like crap.
The actual location is:
system/app/phone.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi
picture_unknown.png
picture_conference.png
they're 360x360
i may try and whip something up today. should metamorph just fine i would think since people are using that for the softkeys.

I dont mind sharing but I modded the APK in Bigxie's ROM. I will see if I can pull it. you would have to copy it to the correct place using root explorer. OK?
EDIT - File attached.
Does this image also appear in the contacts app resp. the contacts view of the dialer, or only when someone is calling??

I had a quick look in the contacts APK and I dont think so as it appears to be 2 seperate programs. I suppose with a little time examinig the relevant apk's and modifying the picture to the correct size it may be possible. probably have a go tomorrow when I have more time.
Well i gotta little surprise for you. I've worked a bit here and gotten some done. i'm also going to do the contacts. Here is a little teaser.
I have all of the incoming calls done, and most of the conference ones done. I'll get the people app ones done later and then upload them i'll make a download with a metamorph and you can just pick your images and drop them in the correct folder.
not going to release anything until i test it though, don't want to screw anyone's phone up.
As a little gift though, i'll toss up the stock android one. you have to rename it to picture_unknown.png and put it in yourself if you want to try it out. once they're all finished tonight, i'll be making my own post with them, but i'll link to it here.

It has been a while since I made a real homescreen, I had been using Windows Phone for a while before I got my Galaxy S3. You guys have no idea how suffocating those tiles were (But I still love the MetroUI).
So, I call this setup DropUI cause of the raindrops in it. I have this strange fascination about them, they calm me down. You might notice the edges have black spots, they're there so that the screen looks rounded too. Inside the screen is another layer (or I call it a base). The base has the nav, the dock and the folders. I had to include the dock inside the wallpaper and then use blank icons on my launcher cause 7x10 grid was a pain to work with.
I had seen many setups before I created this, the best and the most unique ones used SweeterHome which is a beta launcher and is clunky. I believe in functionality over looks so I chose one of the best launchers out there, Apex Launcher. (You can use GoLauncher too but Apex has some nice gesture controls.) I made most of it, I had to mash up two icon sets and add in some effects to them. (resources are listed below). Unlike most of the complex setups which make it really hard to change wallpapers, each of my homescreen changes its wallpaper automatically. I had to make couple of wallpaper variations but same wallpapers get boring after a while. The folders are made up of Simi Folder widget and the text is made up of Minimalistic Text.

When you add the widget there are many options, just go to background colour, and where it says "Alpha" set it all they way up to the right to transparent.

I want to start with saying that this theme is an paid theme through google play but I attached the uzip for the widget to left.
In other word, that one is free of charge and modifiable!.Just wanted to let that be said before anyone goes rampage cause I put a lot
of work in making this. The 4 months of wait for UCCW to implement high resolution support was terrible (not complaining!) ;_;
The last screenshots shows the beta version I created. As for now, the theme takes up the whole screen as you can see in the other screenshots.
To emphasize, I tested this on my Nexus 7, the widgets should fit perfectly.
If you're a N4 user you might have seen it over there as well. I thought I maintain a thread here as well since after all, I'm a N7 owner!
Installing uzip theme files:
Download UCCW and add a UCCW widget to your homescreen, select "uzip" and browse and select the theme.

Did it work out in the end? Sometimes uccw shows white widget when refreshing for a split second, but it should get back to normal right after that.
Didn't do it on my vibrant, so just removed and readded it and edited it all at the same time. Had a few moments where it just showed image place holders and no images.

Did you maybe consume all the ram available? Another thing, how does the widget look on the vibrant? It got a display of 480 x 800 after all and the theme was recommended to be used on a 720p screen.

You can see the ram consumption in settings, sometimes uccw can take up to 80mb which is one of the reason I recommend this on a phone with at least 720p (those phones usually have decent specs). Thanks for the screenshots, how does it look in real life though? I will assume the text is barely readable?
369mb for memory under the settings.. Running Paranoid Android 2.54 (android 4.1.2). Text ain't too bad, I have it setup in phablet mode anyways to get more space on the home screens.

That should be enough! You might want to send a letter to the UCCW developer as I never had this issue before. And thanks for telling me that the text was readable, I havent personally tried it on that resolution yet.

Yeah, I have no idea what is taking google so long to review my account. Just sent them another email (an hour ago) asking them if you're even working.
Gotta love Google... I know one of their things, if an app is downloaded from any updates have to be done through them as well. Not to mention anything within the app can't be downloaded from outside sources either. Do I sense, Apple's methods coming to the play store? lol

Wow! Very nice concept! I am both a windows programmer and coffee lover I love the app you made. The background color very nicely portrays coffee. One thing I learned from computer program development is consistency. Maybe recolor your icon and the green icon in the app itself. Maybe using columns and then centering the text and images would give a more professional appeal. One thing to add down the road would be maybe the recipe/making instructions as it does seem very simple.
Your app loading time/splash screen lasts a little longer than I expect for the app but then again it is not bad either. The text you chose reminds me of coffee house text too.
Very nice so far. Let ms know if you have any updates. Post the updates here. I subbed the thread.
