[Q] Bluetooth tether on gs3 possible? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Just was wondering if anyone found a way to get Bluetooth tethering working on this device yet.
Tried foxfi to both a galaxy tab 7 plus and a transformer prime and didn't work for me.
On one occasion it worked briefly but only in Web browser not google play or any apps.
any ideas?

Any ideas at all?
Been racking my head over this for a few days.

So far the other apps haven't updated yet to test for work arround.
No one else tried this?

I tethered to a Nexus 7 and it worked. Foxfi app on S3, pdaNet tablet app on the Nexus 7. The only issue that I noticed is bluetooth DUN on the S3 turn off by itself occasionally so I have to turn it back on and reconnect.

[Q] Tethering to Asus TF300 android tablet

I running stock rooted EL29 Gingerbread and can't seem to be able to tether my new Asus TF300 to it. I tried the "Wireless Tether" application that was included along with the newer version but no joy. Looked for other tethering apps on the market but Sprint has them blocked. I do not seen an Ad-hoc option on the TF300 and the bluetooth option would pair but the tablet wouldn't connect to the internet.
Any suggestions? I'd prefer to tether through bluetooth if possible for battery life reasons.
Here's what worked for me
I had the same issue, and this combination of apps got Bluetooth tethering working for my TF300 (tethering to my Verizon GNex)
1) Install PDANet Tablet on your TF300
2) Install FoxFi on your phone
3) Go back to your tablet, open PDANet, choose Configure, then follow the prompts
That's all she wrote, worked first try for me and haven't had any problems since. Can't say the same about the tablet itself unfortunately, but that's a whole other thread
Hope this helps out!
If Sprint is blocking tethering apps, you can download both through Blackmart Alpha, just Google around a bit (both apps are free so theres no piracy involved)

That worked great, thanks!
I'm running Bugless Beast ROM on my Nexus S 4G (Sprint). I have not been able to get the tether to work with any instructions I've found, including the above, or with any other number of apps I've tried. I either get connected but no data transfer or the tablet will show "saved" under the SSID that I gave my phone and never connect. This true for both wifi and Bluetooth tethering. I've tethered iPhones and laptops to my phone successfully so I know it isn't my phone. Anyone out there have any other ideas?
I can't seem to find any answers on any forum...

Best Tether app (non root)

Hello i was wondering if anyone has had success tethering this phone to the nexus 7? My phone is not rooted, i would like to keep it that way if at all possible. I use FoxFi and PDA Net and it does connect to my Nexus 7, but for internet only. Google play will not update apps, facebook app will not work, Netflix app won't work, ect. I tried open garden, FoxFi (by itself), PDA Net (by itself) and nothing else connects. What is everyone else using??? Thanks in advanced!
Open garden works. Download from the market on your nexus 7, then transfer it over. Works great. I forget if it needs root

[Q] Bluetooth tethering help?

Hi there... struggling a bit with this bluetooth tethering.
So I've done the bluetooth tethering thing before with other devices including my current Razr HD which I sometimes bluetooth tether to my ipad2. There it's a pretty straightforward process.
On the Nexus... not so much. I can get it working, but it's something that takes a little finagling; I have to re-pair the devices if I disconnect.
So after unpairing on my N7, I do the following to make BT tethering work.
1) Select the available device (my RAZR HD for BT tethering) to pair and connect
2) It'll show the pairing code on both devices... I hit pair on them relatively quickly... and then
3) Quickly hit the settings button for the RAZR HD on my N7 screen and select the internet access check mark option. This step has to happen within a few seconds.
If I wait longer than a few seconds after pairing, then if I try to do the internet access check mark... well, it won't work. It refuses to be check marked.
And, as I mentioned before... after disconnecting, I can't just reselect the device to retether; I have to unpair and go through the process again.
Maybe I'll do a video showing success or failure of this if this isn't too clear but... maybe someone can shed some light on this?
Okay... I just did a video of this, showing this thing both not working (by not selecting internet access quickly enough after pairing) as well as working at the end.

I'm having a similar issue with my S4...the Nexus doesn't even see the internet tethering profile and when I try to initiate it from the S4 side, it just goes to "connecting" and then stops.
Bluetooth tethering is working perfectly for me between the Nexus 7 (2013) and my Galaxy Nexus, both running 4.3.

Maybe it's a 4.3 -> 4.2 thing then. I wonder if this RAZR HD will get a 4.3 update anytime soon...
Still really disappointed that my ipad2 just works while the N7 doesn't...

WiFi Connection Lags Out

I have a Linksys E2000 router. For some reason my new Nexus 7 times out, lags out, or fails to connect when doing basic things like browsing with Chrome, Google+, or the Play Store. I don't want to say that this only occurs with Google apps but they are what I primarily use on my tablet. This happens often enough to be extremely bothersome and I don't know what I should do. I have port forwarding enabled on my router for use with Plex on my PS3 but I don't see how that could only be effecting my Nexus 7 negatively and no other devices. If anyone has any ideas as to what I could do I would greatly appreciate it!

A kernel is what bridges hardware and software including the WiFi. You can try flashing a custom kernel and/or ROM to fix your problem.

I'm having a similar issue. It's really annoying. I have an old router so I'm going to replace it and see if it gets better.
I have same issues with Linksys. Works great on other routers. I did a factory reset of the Linksys and it seems to be better.

[Q] Chromecast & Nexus 7 Casting Problems

So I'm having issues with my Nexus 7 casting to my TV. I can cast fine if I have my tablet on and active but once I turn off the screen and set it aside, whatever I'm casting will only go for a minute or so before cutting off. It seems as if my WiFi is turning off and telling Chromecast to stop playing. I have already made sure to "Keep WiFi On Always" and also disabled "WiFi Optimization." The odd thing is that I do not have this issue with my HTC One.
I've tested this with Pandora, Songza, and Viki. I have also clean flashed stock OTA, CleanROM, and CM11. All no luck. The only solution I have found is to use an app called REGPON wifi KeepAlive. Does anyone else have a similar experience that can help me so that I'm not dependent on this app?
Nobody else owns an N7 with a Chromecast and has issues?

Hi,
I am also having the same issue with Viki. It is happening not just only on Nexus 7 but also on Nexus 5 too. I realized that other than Google apps the rest of the apps have this issue.
I'm having the exact same problem, whether using my Windows 8.1 PC or Nexus 7, but does NOT occur with HBO GO, but does with Pandora, Songa. Haven't figured out the solution yet.
Under WiFi advanced settings, check the keep WiFi on during sleep setting is set to always.
