I bought one and tried it once; the screen protector ended up getting scratched up pretty badly but the bullet didn't penetrate the phone. I'd definitely recommend one if you're out in the field or just wanna show off to your friends.

Yes! and we shot it with an AK-47! The bullet just scratched it up badly and fell on the ground! That PLASTIC screen protector can really stop bullets! That even military grade glass gets partially penetrated with!
Seriously? my brain/eyes started hurting after reading your topic.

If you want a bullet proof case, buy a tank and put your S3 in the tank.
Problem?

I don't need a case I ment the screen protector
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

To give you a serious answer, even if the screen protector itself was bullet proof, your phone would take too much shock and ruin all of the internal components anyway. So no, they're not for real.

Yes they are REAL!. They come with bulletproof vest also which the owner wont die after being shot at.
If the owner dies, your S3 will be stolen. Better buy a thief proof protector also.

I have these screen protectors as well. I actually shot it with some 9mm and some 5.56mm FMJ. Just scratched the protector. Didn't damage the phone at all.

I've bought a good few of hundred of them, its saved me a fortune what with the economy atm. I've been bullet proofing my car with them, have you seen how much companies charge for re-enforcement of body panels and ballistic glass these days!!! I've also taped 74 to a t-shirt to give me a cheap ballistic vest, I had to use tape as I could find anyway to pierce the plastic film even with a diamond tipped drill bit, so if you want to do the same make sure you over lap a bit, you don't want that round sneaking in between the screen protectors.
Due to the flexibility of the film, I'm thinking of making a whole range of items bullet proof pants to bullet proof umbrellas, plus much much more
Sorry, bit carried away and bored.

Ok, I couldn't resist commenting on this thread lol. So, I apologize ahead of time if my response isn't well received. First of all, I don't think the OP was serious about the screen protector being bullet proof on the phone (I hope) maybe just that by the protector itself being advertised that way in some way meant that it will withstand much more than the average protector?? Anyway.... To my point.... PLASTIC will indeed stop bullets.... And that "military grade glass"actually has a form of plastic in between the two layers of glass, just like your windshield.

Matte replacement battery door?

I'm looking for a matte replacement battery door. I hate the glossy feel of the SGSIII, it's too slippery, and I know I'm going to drop it if I don't do something about it. At the same time, I'd rather not use a cover which adds bulk. Do replacement battery doors exist yet?
So far, I've only found metal (kills NFC, impedes GPS and cell reception) and fake leather doors.
Until a nice dark blue or black rubber coated door shows up, I'm making do with the original Samsung clear slim cover - it barely adds bulk (still fits in car docks etc) and has more grip than the original cover (made from wet soap from what i can tell). There's a thread with pictures of it in this forum.
edit: typos.
Just do what I did with a glossy Speck case for iPhone, when I had one.
Get a sponge for dish washing, and instead of soap, use toothpaste and "wash" the back cover. After 2 minutes you have a nice DIY matte cover
Just get a rock case. It's feels like it is barely there and offers a great feel.

I did something like this to my old i9100 (S2) and it turned out beautifully. Here is an XDA thread that inspired me to do it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308284 I don't know if I will do this to my S3 yet though!
Yeah looks real nice on the S2. I do this all the time for miscellaneous DIY projects when I want to remove glossy coats.

Spigen made my day!!!

I was excited to get my curved crystal protector in the mail opened my mailbox and it was a pretty big box to just have a screen protector in it. Open it up and this greeted me.

The screen protector rocks it was easy to install compared to any other I've done and screwed up! At first there where a few spots that I was sceptical about but they have worked them selves out over the last 2 hours(adhesive had to dry) I would really say this is a superior product. I'm really glad I waited. The screen felt hard to move your finger across at first now it is as smooth as butter. Its really hard to tell there is even a screen protector on the phone it is very clear. My only complaint is that other does hold finger prints. I love it I give it 5 stars!!!

I agree the protector felt "sticky" for the first day or so. I was worried that would be permanent. Now, as you say, it's smooth as butter. While it does hold fingerprints, I find it easy to clean. I'm pleased with mine.
My only problem has been the curves, as you would expect. While this is MUCH better than anything else I have tried, there just does not seem to be enough "stick" at the edges and the air keeps creeping in. Having said that, it's not getting as far as the screens active area.
I'll give it 8/10. Most only get 6 or lower.
Martin Fields have been my 9/10s in the past but they have really dropped the ball with the SGS3.. They are barely 5/10s on the SGS3.
Thia is an awesome screen protector. Used both sp on original phone and the replacement and it took one try each. Im usually one who ends up ruining 2/3 protectors and going into mad rage and making up curses....but this was so easy and looks like its not even there. If your squegee the outer layer too much u will get more orange peel effect than not so try to take the bubbles out in least amt of scrapes...but it won't be noticable unless you're looking for it and when the screen is off which is no biggie. Clear as hell and so nice...sgp screen protectors win again....this is my second phone with it. And I am pleased
Go order one:thumbup:
Sent from my SGS3 using Tapatalk 2
Damn just got a seido surface case and put it on and the edge peeled up and made the screen protector bubble up I guess I could replace it with the second protector but maybe I should wait until this one gets worse guess ill go back to my spigen modello case.

Otterbox fail (broken screen 4 no reason)

Had an otter box commuter on my phone since day one. Took the phone put of my pocket and it fell on the top right corner from waist height. Just a little drop, nothing major.

The silicon in this case is way too pliable... it actually was pushed put of the way & the screen touched the ground, cracking.
Newer commuter cases for the s3 have silicon of a much harder makeup, so this isn't an issue. The silicon won't move or stretch with age.
I have filed a complaint with otterbox. This is ridiculous. For a company who claims to be so awesome, they better be sending me a free case or money to fix my screen.
Guess I'll be going caseless for a while, seeing as how the commuter didn't do anything except take up space in my pocket and enlarge my phone.

I see a very minor chip in that picture. Now let's think about it; you dropped the phone with a commuter case on it and the glass chipped a small bit. Imagine if you had no case? The glass would have been shattered completely.

That's why I'm part of the "scared users" that doesn't drop the phone on the ground even if it costs our lifes. The Nexus screen isn't THAT resistant. I like the oleophobic glass a lot, but it's resistance is a shame.
Actually, what makes the screen fingerprint resistant is just a coating (namely, the oleophobic coating). Shouldn't have to do with its strengthness or anything.
The galaxy nexus has fortified glass. People don't seem to understand that this device was not engineered to survive drops. Sure it may survive one or two drops buts that just luck. There are devices designed to survive drops.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
That sucks man, I'd be pissed too. I'm not surprised though. I bought my gnex on eBay and it came with an otterbox case.I only used it for a bit before getting a trident aegis. Not as slippery, and better reinforced silicon corners. It s not perfect, but I think the protection/design is superior to otterbox.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Tonight I dreamed I had broken my Gnex screen! First time I did when I woke up was look at the phone, I was scared! I already broke my previous SGS II screen and that gave me head aches.
I've never dropped my device when it was my own fault. It usually is because I'm horsing around with friends and it drops but that's happened once and it landed on carpet.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I sent photos of the case to otterbox, and they deemed it defective and are sending me a new commuter case.
This dowsnt fix the busted screen, which has gotten worse and now effects the entire front of the device, however I'm happy with otter box for honoring their warranty.
I'll look into paying to fix the screen after the case shows up.

Here's what the screen looks like now :/ crack got way worse. May use a backup phone until I get this fixed.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Until the crack spreads some more or the screen breaks completely I wouldn't consider it worth replacing the screen. The crack is annoying but a screen replacement is what?$170?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yeah my thoughts exactly. I'm currently using my backup device just for kicks. The busted screen on the gnex makes me so sad lol. I'll get sick of the sgs2 after a few days and pry resume using the gnex.
The kicker is that otterbox is sending me a new case in the mail too. I don't really see the point of using a case now that the screen is already messed up.

It has a thin feels like I have nothing on my phone at all.. It does how ever make the power button really sensitive to touch.. I like the feel of it
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Nice. Can't wait to get mine. Although I might be getting screwed over by the site I ordered from (it's been a week since they "shipped" it but the tracking number is still invalid)
Got mine in today and liking it very much. It feels like it adds maybe about an extra 0.5 - 1 mm vs the Diztronic. Its definitely thicker than the Diztronic but not by much. In exchange for that slight extra thickness, it feels like it would absorb a drop better than the Diztronic and the lip around the edge of the screen is also a little thicker. The buttons are also easier to press with the Incipio vs the Diztronic and the headphone cutout is a little larger also. I also prefer the soft touch paint coating of the Incipio. Both are great cases but I think the slightly better protection the Incipio offers over the Diztronic will make it the case I use on a daily basis.
Update: case is great but super sensitive around the power button I do like it tho phone feels better in hand than with generic eBay case

I am starting to think it might be a design/manufacturing error on incipio's part. Maybe it's supposed to be for AT&T version of the phone but they use the Sprint version dimension instead, or vise versa. That would explain why it's still not showing up on incipio's website.
Anyway kratos313 how's the otterbox compare to the incipio when it comes to thickness & size?

got it now they send a panel to put in the case to test it .
I wonder if anything not from factory would jeopardize the seal. Like the zerolemon 2300mah batt or an aftermarket back cover. Since the ZL adds a slight bump the the back of the phone.

It looks much better then otterbox armor, plus the back and manu button is more practical then armor. Dont mind buying if it is less bulky then armor lol

That looks way better than I thought it would, much nicer than the fake eBay cases. It looks like they took the front off a seidio obex, and the back looks really cool. Wish the picture had a white phone in it. This might be enough to get me to sell my obex.
Looks a bit big - and I am not sure about a case that costs so much. I have a Vertex case and it seems to do the trick - though I do tend to avoid taking dips in water.
how would this deal with heat issues. since no air goes in and out if ones phone overheats and heat does not escape . would it mean its your screwed?

that back cover is going to suck, scratch magnet
Wow finally..I've been anticipating this forever
Well we all said that the Galaxy S4 would be out before this got out...
So that just goes to show that all of the Lifeproof cases on eBay are complete nonsense so far.
The interesting thing is that OtterBox owns Lifeproof. Yes folks who think I've lost my mind, they acquired them a few month ago. Press Release here.
For people that knew that, oh well...
But are we going to see OtterBox LifeProof Nuud Actives or something strange?

They use the same design for their iPad cases.
They've also released a new iPhone 5 case on this design.
I'm wondering if all those Chinese cases were prototypes that got "taken" from the assembly line or they just released them since they have an actual case out now. The knockoffs had "patent pending" on them.
Or, more likely, someone got hold of the molds, or, there were a few 'after hours' production runs made at the factory.
Not unusual at all in the toy molding business, so I don't think that this would be any different.
The knockoffs look like the iPhone LifeProof. The real LifeProof is the nuud or however you spell it which is different and has no built in screen protector.
