LG8 Links are down? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

As a new member, I guess I can't post in the dev forums. As stated in post #491 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743923 , I think the links are down for the rooted de/odexed versions of the LG8 update. Since this is a Q & A forum I guess I need to break out my old Jeopardy skills and put this in the form of a question...
The links are down?
P.S. Wouldn't have posted if there was more than one complaint about this issue. Just trying to draw attention to the fact that it's not an isolated user having the issue.
P.P.S. 9 posts to go until I can post something like this in the appropriate spot?

Question about modding?

Now, I, as a site developer, understand, more than most, the need for keeping the forums organized. But, in my humble opinion, I feel that the modding is getting a bit excessive.
Case in point
Since I can't post a link to the thread in question, since the forum thinks it's an outside link, the thread number is 630584
This particular thread, which was posted in Nexus One development, is about testing self-developed apps on a non-rooted phone, in particular, is it possible? It was locked and marked as a non-valid post for the development forum. Did I miss something....
If this is the inappropiate place to pose this question, I apologize, but, I felt the need to address this.
PS - And, how is linking to a thread on the site an outside link?

Re: Forum Suggestion /"State of the Site"
i tried posting in where i felt was the appropreate thread linked to in the "state of the site" but it has already been closed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10673299
anyway i completely agree with many of the administrative decisions discussed there. i just have some suggestions to help those work, coming from my experience as a new member my first few days. (few weeks ago)
first of all how did i come here? google searches for questions i had about my captivate. after finding info on XDA few times through google, i realized this is a place i may want to check out more, but it took some looking around just to understand the BASIC POINT of what XDA was all about. Something that would really help people understand "THIS IS THE PLACE!" could use a short, straight to the point "sub-title" at the top of your webpage beside your xdadevelopers logo. something that reads like:
"the home for smartphone development, troubleshooting and ideas.."
the second small issue i want to bring up is new users not being able to post in development forums. WAIT!! I AGREE WITH THIS. BUT, when i was new here i was seeing not able to post in a dev forum talking about something i needed info on, and i was seeing other minor members in other threads getting "chewed out" for posting in a "developers" forum.
HERE WAS MY CONFUSION: www.xda-DEVELOPERS.com it appears to a noob straight off the google express that the whole site is developers...
i started looking for www.xda.com forums.xda.com ect....
it took a bit of searching around the site before i realized the "Developers" section that i couldnt post in was the SUB-forum of the Captivate sub-forum.
it was just a bit confusing until i saw the layout of the site for all the different phones and the sub catagories each had.
i hope these suggestions can bring forth some ideas that can help the integration of new members.
Thanks for your opinion
Yah, I really like your idea. We're going to consider it.
what ever happened to these suggestions?
dude i flet the same when i first got here! great recommendation!

Hi there,
I'm a noob and this is my first post so please don't rip in to me for this or for the fact that I am resurrecting an old post
I thought that it would be better to quote a post that reflected my feelings and possibly (hopefully) answer my questions.
I have an HTC Inspire that I imported into Australia from gsmnation.com as I liked the feature set of the phone and it was compatible with my carrier over here unlike the Desire HD that is available locally but not compatible with my carrier.
I have lurked around these forums as an unregistered user since having my phone and used the great advice shown to root it and put Android Revolution 4G 4.0 by mike1986 on it.
Have been very happy with it but now I want more.
In particular I would like to put Gingerbread onto it with Sense 3.5.
I had been following a thread about RCMix3d Runny v4.0.
I took the plunge and registered at XDA but now I can't even view the thread without getting the vBulletin message saying that members without a post count of 10 or less cannot post in developers threads.
Fair enough I say but surely we can at least view the threads.
I can view various other threads but i cant even find the one mentioned above.
Can someone tell me if the thread has been deleted (all 1264 pages according to Google cache search - I was up to page 127!).
Have tried searching using XDA's custom Google search feature but can't find the thread anywhere.
Any advice about whether the thread still exists or if I am doing something wrong that is not even letting me view the thread.

That thread was removed at the op's request which is why you aren't able to view it.
Sent from my HD2. Still kicking the arse out of all your phones...
Ah Ok.
Thanks for the quick response...Very impressive.
Is there an alternative for this ROM or another sticky for that one around the place or has it been obliterated from XDA?
I have downloaded the ROM to my PC but if there is no longer any support for it on these boards then my quest for a nice GB ROM will have to continue.
I wonder how receptive capychimp is to noobs? I am in awe of the guy
Hi,
Noob here!
I read your "[New Members][Guide/Tour] Get the most out of XDA!!" and I thought it was great.
Being a noob, I couldnt press the thank you button, so I just thought I'd say thank you for taking the time and the effort to write the guide.
Thanks again!

Admins/Mods help me post in Dev section!

I've been lurking the Dev section for months, and I've been on the Mikfroyo thread daily since december. My phone has been rooted for a long time, I've tried a wide variety of ROMs/Kernels/Apps and have encountered and solved my fair share of problems through research without posting.
I'm a n00b, maybe, but by no means should I STILL be blocked from posting in the Dev section. I have a serious and valid question for the Mikfroyo thread regarding his upcoming Z port release, but I also have relevant experience to help some of the clearly more n00bish posters there who somehow have posting rights...
I was tricked into wasting forum space and spending the last hour trying to post 10 relevant posts to threads I'm not even interested in. As I said, I lurk the Dev section almost exclusively, and have for awhile.
Anyways, I've posted more than the 10 required posts to get rights to post in the Dev section, so this is my plea to please allow me rights to post there.
once you have 10 it should allow you, are you sill unable?
are you trying to post a new thread or respond in an existing thread?

Cannot post in Development threads?

Any Idea why??
myonlyst4r, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Please Read: New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums. The developer forums are intended for experienced users and developers to discuss ways to improve technical aspects related to ROMs and Software. While you may be an expert, we ask ALL users to avoid posting questions about using or installing ROMs and software in the Development Forums. To encourage this new Users can read but not post in these forums.
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
Remember, your question has very likely been asked already, so please search before posting.
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

A little reading goes a long way, especially in the dev section. You quoted the answer to your question in the OP

Spamming ten posts isn't a great idea. Try and post something meaningful and maybe try and help some others in the Q&A threads.
Rom development threads aren't really the place to post a thank you, that's why there is a thanks button. Also feature requests probably would be better suited in the Q&A thread for that rom. If it doesn't have one already maybe one can be started.
Same problem.
I am also having a problem posting on development related threads. I am having a problem and cannot let anyone know. I already have 11 posts, why am I still getting the same message that I cannot post? Any help?
I agree that the ten posts thing is ridiculous. I have been pulling my hair out trying to solve a problem, and I found a thread which discussed a possible solution to that problem, but was having some difficulty with it working, and wanted to post the specifics of my problem and how they related to the solution presented to see if it was reasonable to think the solution might work. Instead, I am treated to a condescending message telling me, in effect to take a hike (to put it politely). I don't have time to come up with ten meaningful contributions before I get help solving the problem I am having - heck, I wasn't even sure from the message where I was even supposed to post such messages, since it said I can't post to "development-related forums" - what else is there on a site called xda-developers, anyway? I only found this thread using google to search for this whole ten posts nonsense.
And then, some of the responses by certain moderators seemed down-right rude, for instance one post complaining about how they wanted to thank the author for a post and report some minor issues was countered by a moderator who apparently didn't even read that part and closed the thread, declaring that their post had proved the need for the rule, as the person obviously hadn't learned "how to search" which doesn't even make sense consider the original poster already implied they HAD since otherwise how would you thank someone for something they found helpful and contribute findings on it?
Anyway, the best I could do was to send a private message to the most recent poster who appeared to be knowledgeable about the topic and hope for a reply. They were not the original poster, nor were they one of several other people knowledgable who had previously posted; this is thus a sub-optimal solution. Furthermore, any replies directly to me won't be shared with the world, meaning it won't help anyone with the same problem as me.
And you expect me to contribute in the future after treating me this way?
Thread closed
The ten post rule is to fight spammers and people who don't search cluttering up development threads with support questions. It's not hard to get ten meaningful posts. I understand frustrations when you're trying to figure out a problem, you've done the best which is ask someone knowledgeable for help, but the rule is in place for a reason.

Ease up on these anti-spam measures, I can't post where I need to

I've been a member over a year. I'm a real person. I know very little about phones but I am a computer programmer so I catch on fast. I would like to be able to post a question in the AFWall+ thread but my account seems to be banned from doing that. Specifically:
You may not post new threads
You may not post replies
You may not post attachments
You may edit your posts
What is the problem here? Do you really expect me to make 10 posts about something I know very little about, and how would I make them?
What's weird is I think last year or the year before I was able to post, I'm not sure what's happened since then.

Hi,
Apologies for the difficulty you are having. I have looked at the thread you are trying to post in and it should be set up to allow members with less than 10 posts to post there. We have set up DevDB threads to allow that if the developer decides or to automatically create a Q&A thread for that particular work. So there is something wrong with that thread and we will look into it. In the meantime you can create a thread in Q&A with your specific question and I am sure someone will answer. Please keep in mind that this is a development site and these measures are in place to protect the developers...it protects them from spam, it protects their thread from being cluttered with new members asking "Do I need root to flash this?" And following it up with "How do I root"...and many posts like that. This is also why almost all devices have a separate Q&A section...to keep the development sections clear of questions and try to focus on changelogs, updated features and bug reports with proper logcats. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
