Hi guys, Im the dev of Root Call Blocker, a powerful blocking solution. There have been a few reports of people experiencing issues with the data connection on the S3, which i dont have.
Could someone please let me know if this is indeed the case?
If you do find an issue please follow this procedure:
- as soon as you spot the radio without a data connection (not after a call) send logs through the "Write to us" item in Settings
- once youve sent the report, try using the Debugging tools found in settings
- if the tools do not help, please send another report - this will still help me track issues
Thanks in advance, PR after the break

The only other option is Call Master, which we also make and also costs that amount. Every few weeks we have sales, so youre welcome to wait.
IT DOES NOT DO THE SAME THING AS MR NUMBER.
1.8.3.21
Fixed issue that lead to intermittent blocking on JB and CM10
I have a question:
When I am on a call, and a call comes in that is on my Blacklist, will that incoming call be Blocked without disconnecting my existing call?
All other Blocking apps disconnect my existing call, including 'Ditched' Callers with Youmail
I already purchased your app, and would just like to know this, as this situation doesn't come up often.
Although me and the developer has had our differences.....I have to say root call blocker and call master even more so are the best call blocking apps in existence for android phones. Only real issues may be data/signal loss on occasion. I'm running the FreeGs3 ROM with the jellybomb theme...I have experienced data loss on occasion...I will try to send the logs as soon as it happens.
ftgg99,
I wanted to know if I may make a request. On call master I have all my blocked numbers within the app itself under a list. When one of the numbers or sms are captured by Call Master it does not give the name of the blocked caller....just the number. Is there any way to associate the names with the blocked calls. It works fine when the numbers are within the stock contacts list but not when the numbers are only within the app.
Also, when adding contacts to the built-in block list, is there anyway to have the list auto sort by name....similar to the stock contacts list?
Yes.

For you its differences, for me - policy.
Welcome back. Youre no longer in my list.
Are you saying that contacts you creted throught e app (ie - add/number/name) are not being shown as names in the internal logs? Because they are for me...
What is "stock" for you?

Thank you sir....its good to be off punishment...lol.
You are correct....all my contacts have been manually entered (ie - add/number/name) and are not being shown as names.....they just show as numbers in the internal logs. So when a blocked text or call is logged I have to go inside my list to search thru numbers to see which name matches the blocked number.
Also, when adding new entries to the internal contact list it just puts new entries at the bottom of the list as opposed to auto sorting the list in alphabetical order. I was hoping you could add auto sort feature.
Stock means when I used to have my lists just reference a contact group from my phone the internal log always attached a name with the number.
I prefer to use the manual internal contact list because it is more private.

Currently the mms from block contacts still stay in native sms app....they do not get blocked. however i still want the mms messages from the people in the blocked list...i just dont want them discovered. hopefully this feature will be fixed and include the option to save mms as well as block.
also it would be nice to have an auto sort feature when using the in app contact list. when i add a name and number to the cm internal contact list....the entry goes to the bottom of the list instead of being automatically sorted alphabetically. once the number of entries gets long it becomes difficult to find names when not in alphabetical order.
sms sometimes leaves a blank message in the external sms app with the name of the last person i sent a message from in my in app contact list. or sometimes if i am going back and forth between messaging someone in my block list and someone who is in my normal contact list....the message to the blocked person will sometimes have both contacts in the 'send to' instead of just the blocked one. Both of these issues definitely compromise the privacy.

Can this be ported to WP7 by anyone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298279
Essentially this stores the call start time, end time, duration and name of the other party if they are in the contact list, for both incoming and outgoing calls with an option to select if one wants to copy missed call details too.
As an enhancement we could also copy all incoming and outgoing SMS messages with relevant details to the calendar or in a separate folder in the main email account.
There's no api at this time to get that kind of information. Maybe one day it will be possible but not for now.

Me too. I miss CallCalendar already
Big time necromancy, but relevant:
Will Mango provide the APIs needed to get a CallCalendar-like app working?
I was using over 4 months WP7... liked it... but i always had problems keeping track of my phone calls, wich are a lot for my own company...
Since i got noticed about this app i got back from the shelve my HD2 and TP1... this app rules! I even ordered (since i can't miss a full keyboard phone) an SE X2!!! I'm addicted to this app!
If a port would come i'm even willing to pay for it!

Does anyone know if the quick responses feature works with google voice text. I don't have SMS plan. So it would be super useful to have that feature. I have google voice installed. But I don't see any setting for that.
If it's like other functions (at least on gingerbread), like voice actions, it will ask you what you want to use to send the text when you use the feature, and you can choose GV as default there.
I don't have a GN to confirm this, so this is only an educated guess.
I posted a question about this the other day. It does not look like there is an intent for this.
When I tested this, the reply came from my cell phone number, not my google voice number. There IS an intent for "send text..." in Voice Actions but doesn't look like for this. I hope there's a fix!
Maybe a dev can take up creating one?
Back with my Samsung Galaxy S II, I had loaded an MIUI rom and used their five-points lock screen - one of the short cuts was for the SMS app. Someone had created an APK that I installed, that after installation, when I went to the SMS shortcut, up popped up an intent asking if I wanted the Messages or Google Voice app. I wish I had the know-how to do something like this!
Is there any way for us to get this to work with google voice? I want it bad!
Did anyone get this figured out?
I'm using ICS on a captivate and use GV for everything. I would really like to get this working so I can use the quick responses.
I'd really like to see this fixed/added too. After searching, I really only saw these two other forums tracking it and wasn't sure if there are other places I should be raising my hand. I can confirm that it's the only part of the OS that I've come across that does not let me choose Google Voice instead of the native phone or messenger.
(just found out I can't link as a first time member...)
rough web address: google code android issues #23176
rough web address: google code android issues #23442
Is this something that would likely pop up as an update to ICS? Is this something that would likely require loading an entirely different ROM? Are those questions even appropriately constructed (new to android)?
I made an app a few months back that let you share some text... one of the frequently referenced intents in Android documentation would only send to Messaging (show you the messaging app with the text pre-filled in) and not GV..
Another, less publicized intent let you "Share" with all kinds of applications. This was the only one that would prefill GV and Messaging (and email and tons of other apps). But again, it was an intent that would open the apps pre-filled, not send it.
Another thing that could be done in the app was to just send a text from within the app.. The user never sees the messaging or any other app and the text is sent. This is obviously can only work through native SMS not GV. (For this, an app that uses this feature needs the SMS permission)
--
I haven't done the quick responses yet, but I assume they send the text without taking you to an app, so that's not an intent that's sending a message through the OS, and impossible with GV. Again, I haven't looked at Quick Responses, so I don't know if this is how it behaves.
Please Star the issue on Google Code to get Google's attention!
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23176
Also - disregard my last comment. The intent to send through GV already exists, they just need to call the right intent in the dialer app / quick response. This fix would literally take them 5 minutes to do. Star it to get higher priority on the issue!

I don't think I've ever seen a phone with native blacklisting. Perhaps because the SMS/call still counts against your plan and carriers don't want to explain that to people. iMessage on the iOS platform is even worse for this. Someone figures out the e-mail you use for it, and relentless spam is now pushed to all your devices.

My SGS2 had the blacklist for calls built in the gingerbread build from stock... I have unlimited calling so I don't care if it counts and don't care if sms goes through. But it was part of the OS not an add on. Thanks for the input tho.

Don't know. I don't use that app.
Tired of putting down your Nexus 7 to check a new SMS on your phone? Me too. Cloud SMS is run on both your phone and tablet to allow you to send and receive SMS messaging from your tablet.
This app works over the Internet and does not require bluetooth, does not share (or transmit) your contacts, and even hashes your account email for added security. Typical messages take about 100ms to transmit. Cloud SMS will be a commercial application ($0.99) when testing is complete.
A Note to Moderators: I was not aware of the rules for paid apps. I will move this discussion to the proper paid apps / announcements later today to adhere to the set rules. I apologize for not knowing the rules first. I'd really appreciate it if you could let me keep this here until tonight when I move it (I'm at work now).
Important - It was brought to my attention that this thread (paid app) should be in the general apps / releases area. Click here for the new thread where I will continue to support this app and discuss features and issues. Thank you everyone!

Wake Lock (This is required for Google Cloud Messaging)
Receive SMS (This is required to capture SMS messages to send to your tablet)
Vibrate (If your tablet supports it, I can vibrate/light LED, make sound just as your phone does on SMS - This will become a setting)
Read Contacts (This is used on the tablet to show the contact photo / name rather than just the phone number of the recipient/sender. This data is never stored anywhere).
Write SMS (This is used on the phone to add your messages to the stock SMS database to keep conversations properly synced)
Receive Boot Completed (This is used to automatically start on boot if enabled in Settings)
Using Go SMS? Do this:
In Go SMS, Under 'Menu -> Settings -> Receive Settings' - Uncheck the box that says 'Disable other message notification'
If still not receiving forwarding messages, reboot.
Any comments, questions, or feedback?
It sounds pretty good and 99 cents would be a great price for the features. I rarely turn on wifi/BT on my phone, so I'd like an app that just needs a data connection like you are describing.

There is already an app on the market with that name, for just this use. Tablet sms on the tablet, and desk sms on phone. I use it all the time. How exactly is this different?
It can be found here https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsImNvbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEudGFibGV0c21zIl0.
I am definitely not saying you should not make it, just wondering about the advantages of your vs the already existing. They sound very very similar, right down to the name.

I had no idea another app like this one existed, certainly not by Clockworkmod no less. I will of course rename it to something different. My app does not use anything but Google Cloud Messaging as a transport, and will solely focus on SMS leaving gtalk, gmail, and IM to other apps.
This app first and foremost is designed for myself and friends who just want SMS to work two ways from phone to tablet.

I've not posted this to reddit (yet?). Once the name changes and a test build is up, perhaps then.
What are the issues with TabletSMS on the market?
Please keep in mind that I want to keep SMS data as private as possible with my model, no messages ever go to database or disk.
App will now be called SMS Cloud unless there are further objections.
Cool, would like to see if this works better than tablet talk.

Looks good. I'm not willing to pay $5/yr. for the other app, but a one time $1 or $2 app that works would be great! I don't text much, but I would like to get SMS notifications on my N7 if my phone is off. I get 1 or 2 messages a month (from Virgin Mobile about payment due), that I sometimes miss because I seldom use my phone anymore. As long as this doesn't interfere with GrooveIP (that uses Google chat), I'm in!
I've been looking for something like this for a while.
Most apps are limited to WiFi and BT which is a shame and the already mentioned app is rather expensive.
Would very much be interested in something like this!
I'll test it out on my nexus 7. Right now I use Google voice for texting from my tablet but as you know it isn't my actual phone number.

Great idea especially with the added security added great price point, can't wait to see how it turns out!
Count me in for testing as well.
promising. I'll keep an eye on this thread. I currently use Table SMS/Desk SMS. I think a new option (if good) will be very welcome.
Really looking forward to seeing this develop. I'm using Tablet Talk at the moment and having to faff about with connections all the time is becoming a pain. Something like this sounds really good. I tried TabletSMS and DeskSMS a while back but the half-holo-half-awful UI was offputting and the annual cost isn't ideal.
If you can keep the UI clean (looking like stock SMS app?) and keep it quick and easy to connect then it should be amazing. Can't wait to try it out
I like desk/tabletsms but I might be willing to jump ship. Tablet SMS is a bit clunky and doesn't seem to always update properly. I'd love a clone of the stock SMS app when on a tablet. Also cloud SMS sounds better than SMS cloud imo
Edit: also, I'd be very willing to test and will be watching this thread
I just found out about mysms. It seems to be completely free and does what DeskSMS and the OP wants to do. You can also use a webapp to send/receive messages.

I've used mysms for awhile. Its actually really bad. Messages rarely send from the tablet to phone successfully and there are huge delays in messages being received and sent. I use Tablet Talk right now, its pretty good for at home use but it would be nice to be able to have a reliable tablet sms app over data.
Count me in on the testing.

I'm sorry to post a full newbie post here regarding this but I'm trying to settle some debate and confusion online about Hangouts 2.0
Basically has google "done it right" this time and copied iMessage? (No, I'm not an Apple fanboy)
The advantage of iMessage is that it defaults to data when possible, fallsback to SMS when it has to.
It's also completely seamless, this is handled for you - no need to manually change from data to SMS mode or anything.
2 more points:
iMessage allows you to SMS a "new" phone number for someone you've never encountered before, iMessage detects the phone number is "iMessage-able" and simply sends via data, no kind of handshake / friendship needs to be setup
and finally
There's no "online" status required of iMessage, you need not "log in" or always be set to online, it's an SMS app natively but you can communicate with people over data without them knowing you're necessarily "online"
The advantages as follows.
Cheapest possible was of conversing with friends (assuming your SMS plan is NOT unlimited, I'm in a country where it's pricey)
Privacy / "aloofness" - the lack of an online / offline requirement allows you to ignore a message and respond at your leisure, be it 5 minutes, 5 hours or 5 days. If someone however sees a green O next to your name with Hangouts, the social pressure / obligation to reply is there, you can't just relax if that makes sense (I guess this is an introvert feature)
Sorry for the long post but I'm hearing conflicting reports online that google STILL screwed it up - but that's from people who have obtained the Hangouts 2.0 APK file and do NOT have 4.4 KitKat, rumour has it that's required for the full backend SMS "engine" update to work like iMessage?
Thanks all, really appreciate your time.
EDIT: This also covers what I'm trying to clarify.

The best person to answer those questions would be yourself...since it seems you have experience with iMessage whearas we just got the app.

Well first off, hangouts is still technically part google talk which was an online messaging service, so the online status will still be incorporated in the app unless they take the code out and re-do the app.
And iMessage probably had its advantages in the past when messaging plans weren't unlimited but doesn't have any advantages really unless you want to know who has an iPhone and who doesn't. And since I don't have kitkat I wouldn't know if it enhances hangouts or not!
Don't think google screwed up. They did exactly what they wanted to do.
Got 2.0.018 apk?

Thanks bud! Works great over here
I installed the Hangouts 2.0 apk the other day on my Verizon S3 running 4.1.2 and it's working perfect except I am missing one person's contact picture. He has a picture in my contacts app. Anyone else run into this?
Is anyone group chatting with iPhone users? The main screen shows all participants, but in the chat thread all messages are showing one avatar / name.
