cool but isnt jelly bean like cyanogen mod because i was looking at the nexus 7 and they were saying that it is running jelly bean right? but how is everything like cyanogen mod9???

From what I know Jelly Bean's changes are internal. They just add project butter and some more stuff. After all, its 4.1 ,not 5.0. So its pretty much a patch/upgrade from ICS

If you want the development even faster, please consider to donate to It's dev.

It is not a patch upgrade in any way!
It is a whole new 'thinking' about how the system should have worked in the past and how should it work from now on. Project butter it was a pain in the arse to implement giving the fact that the UI is now rendered by one 'motor' - CPU. As a side effect - this way it is eating battery faster and lag should persist. By adding GPU to this calculation (lol, gpu should have been only for UI render in the first place) android will be capable of moving at 60 frames per second, not 30 or 40 how it is now in Donut/Eclair/Vanilla/Froyo/Gingerbread/ICS etc..

Why no fully functional ICS and Sense 4 when there is one for HTC Desire C

HI Guyz,
I am not a dev. So please pardon me if i am wrong. When i visited a mobile shop to get a new mobile for my cousin,
1. I saw HTC Explorer , which in configuration is wayyyyyyy below desire. But i was awestruck with the smoothness of it. The appdrawer, swiping between homescreens, widgets etc. but i cannot have the same smoothness even with the official sense 1.9 ? Why is that ?
2. I saw HTC Desire C which is based on 600 MHz Cortex-A5. WTF. ? It has ICS. I can sense that ICS will be very laggy in the handset but my question is how this weak chipset has fully functional ICS and Sense 4.0 ? I still feel HTC Desire is very powerful and capable enough to run ICS. !!
Thanks,
Karthik
I'm running nikez ICS and it is very smooth - does not have sense though.

You could try to download desire c rom, change all "desire c" string to "desire" and see if it works...
lol, it's not so simple to port a rom, it's a different architecture of chip, different screen resolution, different drivers... etc etc...
Like if you run a game on a quadcore with full resolution and the same on a pentium4 with 640x480.. do you understand a little?
I think that the progress in ICS and JB is fantastitc, so appreciate the dev's work and don't pretend too much.

Thanks for your reply and please dont be obnoxious when you reply to someone. Its not that I doubt the devs. What i am trying to say is when a 600 mhz powered device can run ICS, why not ours (out of the box. just with minor tweaks) like transition from Froyo to GB. ?? I was totally upset to see ICS in Desire C rather than mine. I hope we will have fully functional ics/jb not without our excellent devs. !!

Ok, the fact is also that desire c has htc's drivers, our desire hwa was written from scratch by evervolv team, so it isn't an official released properly functioning.
It's correlated with the problem that cyanogenmod don't support it for cm9.
There are a few different ICS roms that work really well and smoothly for the Desire. BCM is based on CM9 but nikez rom and sandvolds rom are not. The only problem I have encountered is video playback issues which can be solved my using mx or rockplayer. Otherwise imo the desire ICS roms are quicker than GB. The devs have done a great job porting these to desire.

Wait... I believe that who tried mildwild 4.3 can say that is quicker, faster (maybe not smoother) rom for desire. With the option of choosing where to put apk and data of each app (if in internal or ext) I can open frequently used app in a second, camera Miui app is perfect and it has no bugs. The only benefits that I saw in ICS was running heavy games with good frame rate (the same game is laggy in GB) and using 4.0+ apps. But so far I found ics and jb rom slower (repeat I mean opening apps and overall quickness). Btw the job by evervolv team and nikez is fantastic and I guess that JB development will go furrher and better than ics

Yes.ICS in not completely developed yet and lots of modications are being made and may be the ics version you are using is a bit buggy.that can be a possible reason

Since Shaky stop developing his Sense 4.0 ROM, this side of the HTC desire development has stopped. The ROM, though in alpha, was working brilliantly well. Everything was smooth, and there were many thing working. Why did shaky stop? That build has so much potential. I really hope that he is still developing his rom in secret, so that he makes a "surprise stable full version" release.

He had a very good reason to stop - impatient noobs who didn't care to read his OP or even consider his numerous attempts to control the thread. So now you can find all those people who pushed him to the edge and don't be shy clicking thanks button on their posts as a way to thank them for their hard work

I didn't even notice that Shaky deleted his XDA account. I'm a bit worried about him. What happened?
So, if shaky stopped developing, does that mean that the Desire will never get a full version of the 4.0 Sense, even if it can run it very smoothly?
Begging the devs won't help...
I want this port so much that I'm willing to take Linux classes and to port it myself.
Sooo, is any developer kind and willing enough to continue shaky's work? I know this sounds like begging, but many Desire users really want the 4.0 Sense.
To prevent noobish spamming, like shaky had, devs could just release a full version when it's done.
Please XDA Devs, make our dreams come true.

If you are asking what the differences are then you obviously want to try it out but looking for someone to convince you too.. Do yourself a favor man download the 9/13 nightly if you can and try it out for yourself. JB has improvements over ICS that you just need to see. Calm on man you have a device that can hold every rom in here and you can switch back at any time. Don't treat your phone like that give it a chance to try something new.... No more questions GO FOR IT

The "smoothness" is hard to quantify and, to me, barely noticeable compared to MS6.
The RRs, SODs, and in call audio issues with JB are very noticeable.
MS6 also has deeper user feature set than the still-developing JB.
I am super grateful that WHX is developing the JB for our phones.
But I will wait patiently on the more stable MS6 until JB starts reaching full milestones.

[Q] [POLL] CRON-CM9 or CRON-AOKP-ICS ?

Hi all,
As i see, DK is back and will be actively working on CM9 i think. So if you guys say, i could shift my rom to AOKP ics instead of cm9. The features i added in CM9 will be easy enough to add in aokp with time, Plus eternity kernel will also be same. As for existing usb tether and camera bugs, they will also be same and fixed with time.
Shall i go ahead or anyone actually does prefer cm9 over aokp??
Regards
Yasir
Definitely aokp for me. Way more customizable than cm9 and thus better IMHO.

Yes, but the Qiss team should release and give us the source tree. I mean if they share their git repo, i could easily add it to the rom and give them credits for fixing it. Other than that, i dont know how i can do it.

Good, I've made up my mind about it too.
Generally I'm seeing very low level of interest from users for ICS roms hence my motivation drops a bit. Maybe people leaving desire or maybe they don't want ICS rom.
I can also create aokp jb based on cron or spazedog repo if people want that.
Plus, I might just leave it all if its not worth the effort n time.

I don't mind what base is used as long as it's stable (ROM and GPS) and working fast.
If enryption will work than is will be great.
The widgets for mail and calendar and other things in ICS are perfect and I will stay as long as possible with the Desire and ICS.
More and More apps are going to work only on ICS and higher so then people will go to ICS.
Keep up the good work, waiting for any new version from you.

Overall smoothness

So my friend and I were comparing our phones he has an iPhone, and my phone would do everything faster his phone just did everything smoother, mostly we checked how games ran, his phone in game options ex: scrolling through options and upgrades was way more smooth and responsive while mine had hiccups, gameplay was the same though, but I'm curious why the iPhone is smoother scrolling even outside of its ui into games while my Hercules beats it in specs?

Its not only hardware that determines how smooth it scrolls but also the software
In my opinion the reason I think it scrolls better has to do with apples memory management because it manages ram more smoothly so that's probably why
Also did you install custom kernel on your device?
Because if you did there would be no way you would lose

"The iPhone changed things by introducing a dedicated thread with high priority for handling UI rendering, redirecting all power (CPU and GPU) to handling UI element rendering in realtime based on touch input. The result? Smooth-as-butter UI elements, transitions and animations as soon as you touch the screen -- even on older hardware when paired with the latest iOS 5 software. The drawback: everything else, from app downloads to content rendering will pause so the UI can keep that high frame rate, high quality redraw pace."

I've tried every kernel for this phone and most ROMs and there are brief times when the smoothness matches the iPhone, but the consistency just isn't there..
Speed..well that's a different story there are some ROM/kernel/tweak combos that make this phone pretty darn fast

The t989 is faster than the iPhone 4s. Geekbench 2 proves that. But in terms of smoothness the iPhone will ALWAYS win. It's just the way Android is designed. iOS sets resources aside for UI transitions and whatnot and that's why you NEVER see an iPhone stutter and spurt like Android does at times. Give Android another year or so and this issue will be a thing of the past. Unfortunately the only way to resolve this with Android is better hardware... but it's coming!

Even though ptmr3 said that adding the supercharge script was unnecessary I did it anyways just to ease my mind Lol I also added some of the battery saving mods from pmr...I keep my cpu set to ondemand/noop and slightly underclocked..and I am using the stock tw launcher ..
I think that some of the aosp ROMs out there may be slightly faster. but in my experiences they aren't as smooth as this one ..
Experiences may vary from phone to phone so there is no point in saying which ROM is better than the rest but I put my setup so someone can try it for themselves

well basically JB is the most stable ROM in my opinion that has the most support otherwise like ICS and GB don't have as much but i think that as soon as Ubuntu gets released the JB roms will be flowing like water but basically that also means that more roms will be smoother and remember that JB hasn't been officially released for our device so what there is currently is made by our awesome devs!

Hi, i'm using the new version of miui 4.1.2 but the problem is that i have issues with that version, lot of app don't work, games are slow, i can't search in internet 'cause it's slow too... So I want to change for another rom but I don't know which one is good, i'm searching for a rom with jellybean which could be fast and not use a lot of my RAM not like miui.

I'm running mine on ckpv5 myONEv RC9.0 FX+ on top of Maxwen's latest Titanium Kiss kernel.
It may only be 4.0.4 but without a lot of the bloat that comes 'standard' on the One V factory builds, so it does run a lot better.
But there are some, quirks...
Call Volume, at lowest is the loudest, click up one spot, and it's right.
Edit: Just being blind, found the switch for vibration on keypress.
Those are the only glitches, I've found so far, and I've been running it for two weeks, really making sure I put it through it's paces.
