I've tried finding a solution to this on the board and elsewhere, but all the suggested solutions either didn't work, or aren't available ...
I'm running the current RC2 of CM ICS on my G2, which works relatively well apart from the known occasional problems (font, camera messed up in goggles). Anyway, I'm not sure whether this occured with RC1 or RC2, but GMail keeps reading out mails to me with TTS, and I've not been able to switch it off ... web scripts install is disabled, I have no "drive mode" or "voice input and output" in the settings that I can find, I can't find the voice input app (apart from the voice dialer), and I don't have the apps installed that have invoked this problems for some other users ... some posts mentioned it might be a bug in the ICS release ...
Any idea how to get rid of this? It's really annoying ... Thanks!
Not the real fix, but it seems like after installing Google Now for ICS, the TTS for GMail is now somehow turned off... weird ...

Hey, I am having some issues with the ICS 4.0.3 CM9, b0.2.6 ROM working with the Google Music app and getting Exchange on it.
Google Music seems to only want to play local music on my phone, whenever I try to stream a song, the Music app FCs. I have tried uninstalling it, clearing data, but still having the same issue. I've had this problem since the b0.2.5, the only thing I haven't tried is a fresh install with b0.2.6.
With the Email app, whenever I try to setup my exchange account, it keeps FC after I try saving the settings for my account (basically says "Exchange has FC" or something of that nature).
I also noticed that browser sync isn't working either under Accounts -> Google.
I searched around and couldn't find anything, and can't post on the dev forum so I figured this would be the best place. I also realize that this is a beta ROM, I was just wondering if these issues are known (I searched the original ROM thread and couldn't find anything that would answer my questions) or maybe there is something messed up with my installation. Anyways, thanks in advance for any help!
Hello,
I'm on a rooted GS3 with Diet ICS installed.
I had installed the Rapid Keyboard app for the Play Store and when I did so i lost the ability to perform Voice Dictations.
I've since deleted the rapid keyboard app and the function is still not available.
I have checked all setting possible. Language & Input is set to show the Voice icon on the main keyboard. I even tried moving it to the icons and it still does nothing.
I deleted Google voice, voice search, and re-installed with no luck.
I even reflashed diet ics and still nothing.....i'm stumped!
I believe I figured out my problem.
It has to do with the keyboards in " Diet ICS"
I don't think it includes the voice dictation because I flashed Ultimatum 1.3 at the feature was there, then flashed back to Diet ICS and it was gone again
That being said is there a way to add that function in on its own???
Any help
Hi Everyone,
I installed the 4.2.2 ROM from vijendrahs, which runs great on the Desire.
But I cannot get Voice Actions to work. When I say "call xxx", I get the web search result of "call xxx" instead of the "xxx" contact like I expected.
Voice parameters are in french, but I tried english and it does not work better.
Has someone figured out a fix for this yet?
Thanks,
lejnfns
I'm experiencing the same problem on my GN2 (SCH-i605) running imnuts' Tweaked VZW remix. Every time I try a voice command it performs a web search instead. The developer of the ROM stated that it's working fine on his so that leads me to believe it's probably a setting we've accidentally toggled or maybe an app we have that's interfering with it and not the ROM itself.
I hope someone can shed some light on the situation.
Thanks,
Bodie
Edited to add solution: I went into the app manager and found com.google.android.voicesearch and cleared the cache and data and then did the same for the Google Search app and rebooted. As of right now mine is working again

Awesome, I'll try that!
Hi!
Been having a bit of problems with the Kitkat roms for our device,.
Both the rom and Gapps install fine in recovery (tried with both an ancient CWM, and now latest 4ext) and it boots just fine, but cannot sync with my google account. The usual menu asking if I whish to connect this device to a google account doesn't show automatically like it used to in previous android versions (only the menu to add a cyanogenmod account pops up. Tried both logging in to CM and skipping it, with identical results), and adding my Google account manually tells me it's connected, but it is unable to sync anything (cal, contacts, gmail etc) to or from my account.
Opening hangouts gives me the message "Google Play services, which some of your applications rely on, is not supported by your device", but installing the latest apk of Google Play Services manually does nothing to help.
Play store is nowhere to be found, though for example Gmail shows up like normal (but only says "Waiting for sync" when opened).
Tried Flinny's alpha 2 and 3, as well as Cyankat 1.0 and Nevergone's version as well as two different zips with Gapps. All MD5 sums checks out correctly. Full wiped several times. 4.2 works like a charm.
Has anyone else encountered this problem before? Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks!
Hmm. I had something similar happen as well, though not this exact problem. I kept getting I think it was Google Play Services and something else I can't recall right now kept on FC, so nothing would sync even though it showed the little status bar sync icon. :/

Thanks for your reply. Can you remember what you did to resolve the problem? I'm all out of ideas here, I'll try anything! (yes I'm slightly addicted, okay? I can stop whenever I want.... )
Since yesterday I've tried to dirty flash 4.4 straight over my 4.2, without wiping first. Sync actually kept on working, but Play Store, Keep and Drive couldn't connect, although Gmail and Hangouts seemed to work as normal. I tried to dirty flash Gapps on top of this, but although sync reported that it worked, almost all Google apps FC'd immediately on opening, including Gmail and Hangouts.
Any and every idea is much appreciated!
I am having a similar problem with the CM11 unofficial build for the LG G Pad 8.3. I appear to be the only person trying the ROM having this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

I eventually found out that my problems were caused by having the wrong bootloader (had the one for the G2, and not the DZ in my case, they're similar but not the same) which had a systems' partition too small to accomodate Kitkat correctly, causing the problems described above. So you might want to check the size of your partitions, but I'm not at all familiar with the G Pad, so unfortunately that's all the help I'll be able to give. Best of luck, hope you'll find the problem!
Wondering if anyone else is having this issue.... When I start google maps and start navigation, right away an error saying Google TTS (text to speech) stopped.... Click Ok and it will give me voice directions still... sometimes the voice will change for it self and even the units lol.....
Things I have tired :
- Had the journalist 4.3 so i went on PC companion and clicked repair... it automatically downloaded a new (proper version I would assume) generic version of 4.3 and flashed it..... same issue still
- Tried removing the update for Google maps and google TTS... and then updating it again... same issue
- If I change TTS to Pico TTS it will work fine.... its just the voice isn't as nice
Really its more of a preference thing, just irritating when something isn't working as it should....... Any things to try would be great ?
------Note: TTS was working great on 4.2------
Secondly:
The GPS... If the Icon is set as active, I noticed on 4.3 it doesn't appear till its using Google Maps.... Does this mean its off, but automatically becomes active when its needed ? Or is it on all the time and just letting you know its using the GPS ?
Wondering for battery life, haven't really gotten a chance to test both scenarios properly.....
