When will the Netflix app for the galaxy nexus support HD streaming? This would common sense since the.nexus has an HD screen.
Thanks

Well, there was a Netflix apk floating around (search is your friend) from the Droid Razr, however the app doesn't seem to play nice with 4.0.3+ at the moment. If you are running a 4.0.2 rom or lower, you can use that. Otherwise, we have to wait for someone to mod the HD apk to work with 4.0.3+ ROMs or for Netflix to update their own app. Also, the Droid RAZR apk doesn't go full screen either.
Netflix doesn't seem very high definition even when streamed over wifi on my laptop or monitor. You're not missing much.

lol HD video on a mobile phone why?? Average 720p is about 2-3gb no thanks waste of bandwidth. You won't see all those details anyway unless you're a show off ....

Because some of us have unlimited data plans still, and IMHO HD videos on this phone actually DO look really solid, depending on the source of course. Then again, I'm also just a huge show off
i'm not sure what you mean, mattskeet. watching youtube on HD vs SD is apples and oranges on the nexus. I could happily watch a 90 minute HD movie on nexus screen
Netflix and gameloft have crappy methods of showing support rather then just throwing the APK out there in the market.

Netflix has the potential to have great image quality. My Apple TVs and PS3s allow for 1080p video and 5.1 audio.
Netflix only allows HD on devices with locked boot loaders afaik. Nook tablet has HD as well.

If that's true, I can't imagine why they would do that.

netflix's hd quality is amazing on my computer too, if its bad quality its cause the connection is too slow. you need about 15-20mb/s to get the best quality.
is there any update on this? just saw the new netflix on the play store but it still doesnt have 702p. does the hacked apk work for 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 yet?

That is not true, there is zero difference in Netflix quality on a GN with a locked bootloader vs. and unlocked one.

This is also not true, you don't need anywhere near that bandwidth to get great quality.
You need 8Mbps for 1080p video with 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus audio.
Regardless, I get 25Mbps on my home connection and my phone, Apple TV, and PS3s are all connected to the same network, so that rules out network conditions.
I remember reading somewhere that it is a software limitation and the Razr got a special version to showcase the HDMI 720p streaming out on the device.
When I had my RAZR HD Netflix looked amazing. You can see so many details especially facial details. Skintone, facial stubble etc. Would be nice to have on the Nexus since it has a HD display. GG unlimited data .
Has anyone tried The Bards Tale on their GNex? I would like to know how it runs before I download it on my device.
Thanks.

It's also possible it's a paid app that he doesn't want to pay for only to find out that it doesn't even work.
I've bought it however I'm low on data and would like to know how it runs before throwing my data away, its 1.3gb.

It runs on my N7 (downloaded of WiFi at home) however I left it in England and only have my GNex with me in France.

Okay I've looked into it, I might actually purchase this because it looks awesome. Love RPGs but I saw reviews from the play store to internet saying it runs great with no issues. I did see someone mentioned Two versions of the game - HD/SD. I'm assuming you bought the SD version.
But yes the nexus seems to play it fine, I'm sure it might run a bit slower compared to a tablet lol but I will also say it will depend on your ROM/Kernel choice too. I'm sure there won't be issues but you never know .
Anyway hoped that helped, I really probably buy this but by the time I'm ready to purchase my info probably won't be helpful lol.

Thank you. There is only one version of the game, just when you download it on a device with Tegra 3 (Nexus 7 ) it will give you the option for HD data that's about 3.2gb. I'm downloading it now, I've only played about an hour on my N7 but it is an awesome game, very funny. I really recommend you buy it. I'm using stock JB with root and trinity, i hope it runs well.

I did, its a fantastic game so far! I'm playing with everything maximum/ water "on"/shadows all etc. Running fine with no lag.
I am however disappointed in the audio, its pretty low quality from headphones not sure about speaker. But damn its a wonderful game, this might be the only game I continue to play on my android. Besides Mcpixel another game I suggest you buy if love humor. I never usually play on my android but this game has got me skin deep lol.
Thanks for letting me know about this game.
Cheers

Great to hear, glad it works well. Still downloading on my crappy conection but looking forward to it, I get very bored on the ferry. Like I said, I haven't played much but for the price you can't go wrong, they say it has 20+ hours of gameplay. Have fun

Hey guys I just want to share a game that ITS completely worth the money, its by far the best game I ever played on my Android device ( and Ive played a lots of them ).
Im not promoting it or anything like that becouse I didnt create it, I just want to let you know that its a great and adictive game, it runs perfectly on the nexus and the graphics are beautiful indeed.
Its called Rayman Jungle Run

NBA 2K13. but its a bit laggy for gnex :/

That game didn't work on my Gnex
I would download the required files through the app and nothing
Just got rayman jungle run, noticed its number 1 on new paid game list, so its quite popular at the moment, like it so far but like most mobile games it only offers minimal levels an short gameplay but good otherwise, android games certainly won't replace your psvita or 3ds handheld just yet.
hey Sonic is that you ?

Great Little War Game and Great Big War Game. You can easily spend hours playing. A bit of a battery hog though.

I have to admit I am addicted to Rayman Jungle Run. It is way to much fun and adds a lot of replay value trying to get every sprite-esque thing and its way to easy to control. In addition, Jetpack Joy Ride, Bad Piggies, and Granny Smith are all equally addicting.
Jet pack Joyride by: half brick. It's free, fast and fun.

I play uplink on my Acer Iconia A500 but can't install it on my Galaxy Nexus and would like too. It's for Tablet only and I'm using Paranoid Android and would like a hint to bypass the tablet only feature and install it on my Gnex at least to try it even if it might be too small.
Thanks everyone.
On my GNeX my favorite games are F18 Carrier Landing & Air Navy Fighters, "StockMarket" (Not a game but since it's not real money I consider it a game, Asphalt7.
Hi,
I'm willing to buy Galaxy Nexus and I'm wondering if it can play 1080p mkv video smooth.

ok so ive seen a few online realtime multiplayer games online, is there any one that you guys are playing? whats the best one? and by best i mean one that doesnt make you put some work in then say you cant progress unles you buy stuff with real cash lol
is galaxy on fire a realtime multiplayer? im looking for a game i can play online with other people and continue to play when ever i have free time, like a 3rd person quest sorter game but im not really into elves n wizards n stuff lmao :silly:
Well, it's not exactly an adventure game, but it's 3rd person and it's online, you cab try Shadowgun: Deadzone- it's a shooter game.

Galaxy On Fire is a single player space sim that's only free for a bit. The full game is £7.95. Its well worth it though.
As mentioned Shadowgun: Deadzone is really the way forward. Get involved.

It's made by lameloft aka Gameloft, so I personally don't recommend it,

Order and Chaos is fun. Recommended. Very popular.
There are several online multiplayer games where everyone runs around. Deadtrigger is what kids here these days are playing. Better buy a controller though.
There was a real time bowling game posted here somewhere. That was pretty sweet.
Most are shooting games.

Monkey Poop Fling has real time multiplayer, vs your phone, and single player modes. And you get to fling monkey poop!
Crash Drive 2 is real time with other players. Super Stickman (2?) might be too, seems I saw it in there once.
Pba bowling and real boxing
Bowling is cool
But real boxing you have to pay to have skill and it costs 20$and everyone I ever played online has 100% skill. ....what a lame ****ing game. ..
