how to enable google navigation outside US - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi, everyone. I'm the Google nexus user in Thailand. Now I've updated to Jellybean 4.1 but in my country can't use the Google navigation. I was found the topic that can use the Google navigation outside US but it can use only in Froyo.
Now I need to know how I use the navigation outside US with Jelly Bean. Thanks forward for helping me.
Thank you, )

I did a quick search and found this. I have no way to test this as I'm in the US. I'm interested to know if it works or not as I will be going to Thailand next year. I lived in Thailand for 9 years and usually never used a GPS except in Bangkok where it really comes in handy.
Please let us know and update this thread if you get it working.

If anyone is wondering... I live in Vietnam. Originally from USA but I'm out here for work. When I launch Navigation I get a pop up message saying that Navigation doesn't work or is available where I am. There are two options "Cancel" and "Get Directions". I touch the latter and I can still get directions just fine. I just verified as I am typing this. Selected "My Location" to "War Remnants Museum.." and it auto finished the address with no issues. Maybe it's different in Thailand? Maybe because my Google account is American? Who knows but it works just fine here and I have the latest version of Maps on 4.1.1.
Just FYI if anyone in Vietnam was wondering.
:good:

It's working fine in Germany (with German Google account), so I assume they just aren't allowed to offer that service officially/at all in Vietnam/Thailand.

You can get the directions but unless you are in a supported country it does not give you turn-by-turn navigation like a proper car GPS. I've used it in both the UK (where it is supported) and Thailand and it's a world of difference.

I think you can easily find that on teh interwebz, latest I've know it's working is gmaps 6.9.0.
Hopefully Google doesn't chase me down for this.

What i still don't understand is why Google bans any kind of distribution of their (modified) maps other from play store?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I guess they don't want to have problems with regulations etc. If they didn't launch it officially must've been its not supported and they don't want to be held responsible for any problems

must tell you all that I have two Samsung phone and one has a working Google Navigator and the second won't work.
The second phone always give the annoying message that says that it a not supported region.

Google is blocking all modded versions so that you can no longer sign in and recover saved routes places etc. Remember googles slogan ''don't be evil''? They are becoming more and more ''evil'' BTW gmaps 7 sux big time. No morr normal offline caching with visible rectangle etc. I was so annoid with google mking such things that I bought other nav app, quite cheap BTW and forgot about google

Have you just tried Google Shopper? The few times I've used it to do comparison shopping, it's worked quite well.

Was looking at Google Shopper but read somewhere it wasn't up in Canada yet. Will look further into it though and thanks.

I'm in North East England, Phone thinks I'm in Washington DC??

Having some very bizarre behavior from my Nexus recently.
I was trying to set up Latitude when I noticed the phone had my location down as Lynnwood, WA. This is somewhat amusing since I am in Newcastle Upon Tyne, in the UK - so my GPS is a mere 2,350 miles out.
I tried resetting the data in Maps and that has fixed the maps location, however, whenever I add a weather widget such as Beautiful Widgets or HD Widgets, both think I am still in Lynnwood. Yet in Google Now, it knows where I am, and the Maps know where I am, so where is it getting this information from?
Any ideas?
I'm pretty sure its Google Location Services doing this, but other than turning it off, with repercussions that has, I don't know how to fix it.
Go into Google Now->Settings->Privacy and accounts, and check Use Google.com

You can also try FasterGPS from the market, a free utility that lets you select the GPS server for your region. Reboot after making any changes.

That suggestion has not worked. I will try the next one. I'm sceptical though since I don't use GPS in my weather apps.

As said I solved my maps problem by clearing data in the maps application in the applications settings. It has not solved my weather widget issues though.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that you need to be on English (US) language.

That's odd.. though Washington DC and Washington state Are about 3,000 miles apart. So your GPS is actually about 5000 miles off.
No idea how to fix it though.

I continually had this problem with my Droid incredible (I'm in California and it kept saying I was in china). I never found a fix, even switching to using Google's location. It eventually fixed itself on my phone most of the time but my wife's kept doing it. Verizon refused to replace our phones even though this didn't happen to everyone and was obviously an issue with the phone. For me rooting and flashing any ROM that wasn't stock took care of the issue on both phones permanently. Luckily we haven't had this issue since we upgraded to the nexus and she got the Droid razr.

Apologies, I mixed them up. The phone thinks I am near Seattle. Washington State not DC. Get confused with Washington at times, we also have a town called Washington about 10 miles away

Interesting. I don't mind flashing ROMs, have done so before many times on my N1, SGS2 and others. I was going to keep this phone stock so I could have a good all rounder without any weird glitches but I have so far found many weird glitches, so what is the point in staying stock I guess...
That happened on my n7 I was in sweetwater and it said I was in Finland, it was just the WiFi network I was on

Well if you don't use the weather Widgets, maps, etc then it might not bother you. Just turn off location settings. I got annoyed with it.

Very disappointed by this... Used it on my S3 all the time. Guess we have to sit tight and wait for a ROM that can use it.

Probably a build.prop edit will fix it, but could break other things. It would work by telling GW it is a different device.

Has anyone emailed the developers of the app to see if they can fix it? I would assume it's just a case of it's a new phone and needs to be added into to the program.

Anything that accepts paypass.
This on top of "Samsung Apps" having a bunch of "Test Apps" for the ifrst 3 days shows they weren't at all ready for release... REALLY .. is it that different from Google Wallet? There are other apps that don't work
The NFC apps dont work at all - i just tried to pay my parking meter in SFO today with it - doesn't work (yes it is on).
I've had good luck with NFC

It's Sprint that's the holdup. I wasn't able to use Wallet on my S3 until after I'd rooted and installed a different ROM (CM10 at that point). When I went back to a TW ROM, Wallet continued to work (not sure what they did with their TW ROMs, as even the leaks of the official ROMs continued to work).

any working NFC payment methods?

NFC has been popular 2 years now, yet Google Wallet still 'doesn't support' my device.. are there any NFC payment solutions? I'd love for just once to be able to use my phone for a payment.. do we really have to wait for iPhones to get NFC before we can start getting it ourselves? this is videochatting all over again..

Hi Rawdaddy,
I've been looking out for this for a while, but although there seem to be cracked versions around, there always seems to be a problem topping up in the UK. I've just done another search now, and can't see anything that claims to be fully working in the UK. Where did you get the apk from and how do you top up?
