I miss this too Was great when I could do it in my SGS1. Load a youtube vid and hit the power button to lock the screen so its off OR even start my browser and surf while playing youtube music Pretty bad decision for Google/Samsung to break this in ICS.

I dont think its an app thing. I believe ICS is codded for it. Kinda like how when you are listening to music and take pictures the music pauses for a moment to execute the shutter sound even if you have disabled it

Not only ICS, My SGS3 is running JB-4.1.1 can't have youtube working on background too

I use my phone as a mp3 player but some songs I like to listen to off of youtube. I can't when I get the song and hit the lock it pauses the song. I don't know if there is a way around this or if it is the rom. I am running darkside everything. 2.4 that is posted. Please help thank you.

My droid stock didn't thats what I use before I got galaxy.
Seems like that would waste alot of bandwidth. Why not just download the songs

Then that would be a bug in the Droid. All android phones are programmed to stop playing YouTube when locked aas far as I know. (I'm 99% sure)

Well because i'll by a cd but I never seen the point in just one song. I might just be weird. lol also seens my iphone I don't even know where I could buy music now.

The only torrent I ever used was supernova.com or something like that. once that closed out I never found one I trusted to use. Do you know any?
yeah isohunt and piratesbay work pretty good. You can even download single songs just download the torrent for the artists whole album and just select whatever song you like and click off the ones you dont want

If u stream music and don't mind the data usage, use food's music streamer from market. U can search and play pretty much any any song u can think of. Tuneun Radio is also good. Both these apps play with screen off/lock

EASY MP3 DOWNLOAD but it does send ads to your phone but can find lots of songs other apps cant i use and delete the app

I remember that being a massive battery eater. Otherwise totally agree.
Never had it drain my battery any more than any application that streams data while in use. It does use more power than keeping songs on your phone but never was a battery drain on any of my devices. The new software definitely is smoother though.

I had it install apps on my homescreen. What a pain in the ass. Took me a couple of days to find out what the hell was installing apps, they would just appear out of no where. I was also getting ads in the notification bar. This was on my SG2 so maybe something is different with SG3.
haven't seen anyone mention this one yet but I use TinyShark Downloader... it downloads songs in mp3 format from groove shark and works really well. I don't think there are any ads but I use ad free so it might but I don't see them.there's also a version to stream instead of download. the download version is not on the market anymore (due to copyright issues maybe?)

I've notice Netflix, Hulu and HBO go all seem to play blurry on the GS4.
My iPhone and iPad play those videos perfect.
Anyway to fix it or just have to wait till the update those apps.
I'm assuming most apps will need to be updated to better support 1080p screens.

It looks nice, but no where near the video quality of my iphone 5.
Hope they update those apps soon. Youtube on the other hand looks great.
Hey guys! For those people who wants to know if the bravia engine works or is a placebo feel... I invited u to do this 3 steps:
1.Open a video with the samsung stock video player
2. In the right-down part u will see a option to wach the movie in small window.
3. Now u can see rhe movie at the same time play with the phone and make other stuffs.
Now, look the icons, wallpaper, browser, overall the phobe seems like HD. And if u want to see the difference again just go to home and now kill the video player from the (X) in the video player and then u will see the diference. Sorry for my english is not my first language.
Feel free to post ur results
Btw: is exists anyway to make bravia engine always on not just for movie or pics?

You are right. What a big difference. 3D buildings in Google Earth look much better when pop up video is playing. Overall everything look much sharper. I hope someone finds the way to turn on bravia engine without need of video player.

I use it for playing Ingress, so I can have the scanner up while chatting with my teammates.
I constantly watch YouTube vids or I'm on fb at work. Comes in handy if I get txt messages

I tried enabling multi-window to use with any apps but it's not working. Anyway I'd use it for a lot of multi-tasking, like watching a Netflix documentary and taking notes, or playing a game and watching a video, etc. Mostly media/texting.
Ditto on LastPass.
