I've had my GS3 for about 3 weeks now, and I've noticed there are some scratches on the glass that covers the rear camera, does anybody know how I can replace this glass (or even where I can buy a new one)?
Google it or you tube it. Here is something to get you started but both links are for the quad core though.

i got a tilt 2 recently and i love it. i have it running android 2.2 and its also running the newest version of the energy rom available. but heres the thing, i traded my iphone for it. i have had the iphone for about 3 years and have had all models except the 4, i dont really want it now that ive experienced android. when i traded it, the screen was a little scratched up. its not that bothersome, but it would be nice to know if i could replace it. ITS THE PLASTIC THATS SCRATCHED, NOT THE LCD GLASS SCREEN. i need to know how to replace only the plastic and not the glass, because the plastic without the LCD screen on it is about $50 cheaper.
ANY HELP?
Check if there is a screen protector applied on the phone. My friends Touch Pro 2 came with a screen protector that was already applied when he got it. It may look like its not there because there are no air bubbles. If you look closely you'll probably find it. My HTC Pure also came with a screen protector on it, but took me a while to realize it.
Nope, I checked for that. Good advice thou, so thanks. There was plastic on the keyboard for 2 weeks before I even noticed it, and it is kinda hard to spot.

Yeah, same here. I'm just wondering because I've never seen it done. But if you can't why would they sell them?

I am coming from the original HTC Evo, which was extremely prone to scratching on the camera, due to the protrusion of the camera. I have since upgraded to the S3 and notice the camera also protrudes out a bit, although not quite as prominently. Has anybody notices any scratching on their S3 camera from daily use (phone in pocket, sitting on counter tops, etc)?

I got my sIII two days after release and I don't have a single scratch anywhere.

Had mine 2 more nths now, not a scratch anywhere; although I bought a case at the same time as my phone in order to prevent that from happening. These phones are expensive! I wanted to protect my $200 investment right away!

I had the same problem with my Evo 4G. The lens cover was all scratched after a time.
As soon and I got the GSIII I bought a case (Seidio Surface) to protect the phone. It has the camera recessed to protect it. If the two days that I had the SGIII without a case I was careful not to scratch it. A problem I noticed right away was that the photos would be streaky in high contrast situations. The problem went away if I cleaned the camera with a lens cleaner. The problem was a fingerprint streaks from simply using the phone. The case also helps prevent this since you no longer can directly tough the lens buy just talking on the phone.
So my camera lens isn't actually broken, but the chrome bezel has some nasty scrapes and shows black which is not at all visually appealing. It seems odd to me and must of happened in my pocket before I got my case because there is absolutely zero visible scratches on the phone.
At any rate I ordered a new camera lens cover and while I see some people have done it with relative ease I have yet to see a guide or any sort of good pictures to help in the process. Curious if anyone has any insight but I think I know what to do based on what I saw when I did a tear-down of my phone(I was bored.) So I will update this post with pics/a guide once I receive my replacement in a couple days. Until then any insight on the matter would be appreciated, mainly when dealing with the old pins holding in the lens cover(how to remove?) And fitting the new ones in.

Here are some links I found that maybe helpful.
http://www.gultek.eu/genuine-parts/mid-cover/chassis/samsung/s3-i9300-ceramic-white.html
This link points to another forum where some else is having the same issue.
There's also a video with detailed instructions.

P.S. I have the same problem. Thankfully it can easily be remedied.
Found one on ebay yay!!!!!!

Don't get that unless you want to take the lens off of it but it will be hard and possibly damage the lenses(who reason we started!) I bought an OEM lense for $7 after shipping from Hong Kong, taking a while to get here but much easier since there is no i747 back chassis on the market yet
I will try and find a link and repost.
Also that is why what I am talking about is a totally different procedure. I'm talking about replacing the lens(with bezel of course,) not the whole back chassis.

OP - Did you ever get this done? I just cracked the lens for my rear-facing camera.
One option is to replace just the lens, as you have mentioned... if you have had luck, could you please let me know and maybe guide me to your source for the lens itself? I have been unable to find it.
The other option is to replace the camera fully... http://compare.ebay.com/like/150948107141?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar# <-- would this be a viable candidate? It looks like an easy plug and play instead of pulling apart the lens off the camera... and for not a bad price.
Same issue...dropped phone cracked lens and needs replacing
...let me know if u were successful thx

Hi,
My HTC One x has a number of scratches on the rear camera lens cover and I was wondering how easy it is to replace?
I see you can purchase them from ebay - Item number 261083492039
Or would it be easier to replace the back housing?
Thanks
Darren
Good question! Has anyone replaced the camera lens?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
If you can find the replacement it's easy cos it's not glued or anything. Obviously you need to take the case apart.

How easy is it to remove the case?
Actually, from what l've heard, the camera lens is built into the shell. You have to replace the entire unibody if you want to have a scratch free lens. Not completely sure though. Will do some research and let you know.

Well, I opened my One X 5 times and also replaced my housing (to make it white and get a new and unscratched camera lens) and I think you can't get the camera lens out of the case without damaging the case. Seems to be built into the housing

i have an early batch sh23, the lens became very loose few months ago, then some kind of dust went in between the outside lens and the actual camera lens... blocking the camera so i cant take any pictures... i ordered a replacement housing from the internet and the case has scratches so i send it back for replacement. just to let you guys know, the lens was stick to the case with a thin double sided tape and its very easy to remove. again, maybe this case i ordered was an early batch
So I guess you have to buy an entirely new housing if you want to replace the scratched lens. Not sure if its worth it though. But what would be awesome would be different colored shells. I am thinking an Orange colored One X would look really cool. Orange is my favorite color
So wheres the cheapest place I can buy a new back housing?
Ebay

Is the camera lens cover part of the back housing?
Replacement back housing includes the back lens cover, however in two disasembely videos the camera lens cover was still on the motherboard when removing the back housing.
I don't get it!
I want to replace my back cover because my lens is all scratched.

Pretty sure the lens covers are part of the housing. I'm looking to replace my housing as well do to a drop.

It will come with the housing. It looks like the the lens just gets pulled off because it sticks to the camera. You can see in the pic below where the lens surround was stuck to the housing.

This makes no sense. On some YouTube videos the camera lens plastic is not attached to the back housing, and on some videos it is! I don't want to have to take a part my motherboard to remove the camera module to replace the glass over it.
Can anyone clarify?

I think the camera lens is not attached to the back housing since you can find out that the camera lens are sold separately in many phone parts shop like DBX. That means it can be replace. But it is not easy to tear down the camera lens unless you are professional person. So you can also see there are parts like back housing with camera lens.
