Rogers Hotspot problems!? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Anyone on Rogers have any problems using hotspot after rooting? I don't even know if mine was working before i rooted it (didnt really try it as I was so eager to root it the day i got it). If this is a common problem then I am hoping for a possible fix. If not, then Imight have to look into unrooting my phone and sending it to rogers for an exchange or repair.

[Q] can you help with loss of signal

hello...i bought my sprint sg2 and had it activatde on verizon. i didnt feel comfortable doing it myself so i paid a guy on ebay to do it remotely. shortly after i noticed i would lose the signal. I would have the 4 bars with a triangle then it would go to the circle with the line through it. i rooted it using a method i found here that wasnt suppose to change anything other than rooting the phone. i contacted the seller and he did something to it; said it was fixed and blamed it on me rooting the phone.
the phone is still rooted but i havent done anything else and im still having the same problem. my gf called me several times and the phone never rang, i was sending her a texts around the same time so im not sure if thats a problem with verizon or not.
yesterday i couldnt keep a signal. i would have to call her back and would experience the same problem with my signal. this has occurred in places where i normally get a signal.
im not sure what to do...and help would be appreciated. do i need to change a prl or something?
Try different modem, if you have rooted your phone why don't you try custom Roms. They are far faster n all bloat free.

Thanks for your reply. To be honest Im scared. I had a captivate and had no problem doing it but the thing with bricking the phone seems to be more prevelant. also i was under the belief that if i installed a custom rom that i would need to reflash it to verizon....and i dont really want to pay the guy again

[Q] Questions about unlocking HTC One M8, using unlimited data for mobile hotspot

Hello folks, Ive lurked here for a while and gotten great info and am hoping to get some help here. I apologize if some of what Im asking is obvious to you folks but it isnt to me so here I am. I tried HoFo but got no help there.
Ive been using factory unlocked Sony Xperias for a while (Z, ZL, Z Ultra)so never had this issue before, but I have an HTC One M8 coming and unfortunately its ATT branded, though I bought it from a private seller and not ATT themselves. Im also grandfathered into unlimited data for many years now, and with my Sonys can turn on mobile hotspot anytime and use my data with ATT none the wiser. Now Im assuming since I was dumb enough to buy an ATT phone, I will be told to contact ATT once I pop in my SIM and try to turn on mobile hotspot, is this correct? If so, will unlocking the phone resolve this issue? As of now ATT has no idea Ive bought this phone, nor did they ever even recognize my Sonys because they never sold them, but since this is an ATT M8, Im assuming theyll know immediately what Im using, identify my plan and lock me out. Im hoping I can get around that.
I also imagine since its an ATT phone it will have all sorts of abilities locked out and a lot of fluff added in. How can I get the features unlocked? Is there anyway to buy a carrier branded phone and get it to be similar to one that was bought factory unlocked from the beginning and never branded?
Any help and advice would be appreciated and TIA
Ok, if I asked too much stuff there that was obvious to you but not me, can someone just please tell me if unlocking the bootloader will at least unlock the mobile hotspot function for me so I can turn it on?
Well, just unlocked, rooted, s-off and twrpd my first phone. What a b*tch, lol! But I had to learn one of these days. Sadly, still cant get the native or any other mobile hotspot app to work though. I saw a thread about a VZW M8 hack but still cant seem to find anything for this ATT thing. No one even willing to talk to me?

You can try wiFi Tether Router. Its in the play market but you have to pay $2.50 for it. Has worked for me. I don't think this app can be dectected by the carriers like ATT because it does't use the native hotspot of the phone.
Youll have to flash a custom rom that has this feature [email protected] and is debloated, xarrier build will block it and tell you to conract them.....
This is not going to help you at all, but I pay the extra $30 per month. I use up to 50GB of data each month tethering, and I want to make sure the my carrier doesn't block me.
So now that I've done my service by telling you to do the right thing, you use to be able to go in using SQLLite and turn off the checker. For VZW it was around line 149 - 160. Can't remember. I would think you could do that for AT&T. Maybe someone knows? Or maybe AT&T doesn't work like that any more, of maybe KK doesn't work like that any more.

[Q] Can't tehter On My New T-Mobile LG G3

Hey guys, so i have the G3, tmobile, but I'm using a simple mobile service.
Problem is, my G3 Died and LG just repaired it, bought a BLU phone to use temporarily and it work fine tethering. And my Old G2 tether fine as well, so i don't think its service issue.
But before my G3 died and after it was fixed, I've never been able to get the hotspot to work. When my tablet connects to it, the WiFi icon always have an exclamation mark on it.
Any idea why this is happening ? I really need the WiFi at work. Can't tether it to my laptop either, will say "Unlimited connection".
Any help will be appreciated.
And my data plan is work, i have 10GB of high speed month, right now i've only used about 200mb of that, so its not because i don't have data plan.
Thanks

sounds like your wifi was damaged, id send that backand warranty that fast.
you think? or i need to root it in other to use my hotspot with simple mobile, since its a tmobile phone and i don't have tmobile service, perhaps that's why its blocked?

What app are you trying to root with? If you are trying to use t-mobile's "mobile hotspot"app or the Settings/Tethering & Networks/Mobile Hotspot... No, it is not going to work for you without a t-mobile data plan.
You might be able to find an app that allows tethering, but I think you'll need to be rooted.
I know that MetroPCS is a *itch to get free tethering with.
I'm afraid of rooting this device lol, don't wanna brick it, it died on me once, out of the blue, that's why i sent it in for repairs.
Yes, as you know, its a tmobile phone, but my service is simple mobile, while it was being repaired by LG, i bought a BLU phone for temporary use, and it tethers fine without root. And my old G2 tethers fine without root either, so I'm surprised this G3 is making that hard. So i can tether with other phones, even though its simple mobile service on a tmobile phones, so I'm thinking the G3 might be the one with the problem. And if I'm to root, you have any idea the best thread for that? Thanks for your time.

T-mobile ROM on At&t G4? Is it safe?

Is it safe to put a rom from a different carrier on my unlocked phone?
Its a att phone that im using on t-mobile.
no
It's extremely dangerous
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
I thought that might be the case.
I can't seem to get tethering to work.
I haven't rooted it yet but I think the problem would be that the carrier wants to be able to know if your tethering so they can charge you for it. And it's trying to re-route though an alternative ip that informs att as aposed to the one T-Mobile uses.
I don't think rooting and flashing another att Rom would fix that.
Not sure though. I don't know much about it.

Few root questions

Hi, new to the forums here and I just had a few questions about rooting my note 7.
So I wasn't able to get a clear answer on this, but will rooting without tripping knox void warranty? Will this affect the note recall? (I'm exchanging it on Monday when there will hopefully be replacements at my local store)
Also, I was concerned about root messing with t-mobile's wifi calling, i rely on it because there's no service in my apartment, so i was wondering if anyone who rooted can use wifi calling with no problem?
Thanks!
From what I know. As of this post, rooting a note 7 using the Spring/T-Mobile modded firmware does not trip knox, and does not void warranty(as long as you don't tell Sammy you "rooted" it, haha.
If you plan on exchanging it, I don't think there is an issue. It's a worldwide recall so regardles of what you do to the phone, i believe it's still acceptable to exchange(since they send you the replacement phone first before you ship them the concerned one)
The T-Mobile WiFi calling I don't know about

Thanks for the reply, I feel more comfortable rooting it now. I actually found the answer to the WIFI calling, this root guide says it should work http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...t/root-wifi-calling-volte-basic-mods-t3455088
