Before you download it make sure CID matches. Otherwise the install will abort.

How to remove bloatware
HI Guys
Ive read through the forum link above all 24 pages and downloaded the relevant Stock Roms, the original from HTC and the Vodafone one. Ive got a little confused reading through all the posts. To flash the original stock rom over my current vodafone branded one what steps exactly do i need to take. People are mentioning the unlock via htc dev in the forums is this required to take it back to the original stock rom. I didnt see any clear steps on how to get this done. Anyone provide any help. Ive flashed my old phone numerous times but at present am a little worried about using the htcdev way. I know the developers are working on s-off is any of this needed for what im trying to do??
Thanks in Advance
Gav
you don't need to unlock to flash an official ROM.
Best way is to grab the RUU file that is correct for your device and flash that way. Its a windows executable you run whilst your phone is connected via fastboot.
edit: that would bring you back to the vodaphone crap. whoops. disregard but yes you don't need S-OFF or unlocked blootloader to flash original rom

Hi Mate
Thanks for this, just a quick question then im currently running 1.26.161.2 (vodafones ROM) and i want to use the original stock one from HTC 1.26.401.2 can i just overwrite vodafones with this one?

I too am a bit of a noob and have a voda branded hox on its way to me. I was under the impression that although we may be able to flash stock htc hox firmware onto the device, we won't be able to it 'properly' because of no proper s off or boot loader..... Or something..... And therefore won't be able to receive any OTA updates afterward....
Or am I talking rubbish and we CAN actually nicely and simply flash stock firmware on and forever after have no issues receiving offiCIAL OTA?
Also gav I don't even know if any stock RUU exist yet...?

Hi Mate
Yes i have the stock and vodafone rom downloaded i got it on here from the developers section. We should be able to install these RUU updates as it doesnt require s-off or to use the htcdev method as least from my understanding.
Sorry to bump this thread, but I'm currently looking for the Original Stock ROM for the HTC One X.
I came across this thread in my search, but the link in the first post is no longer active.
Is there an updated link ?

Mate, first you must know exactly what are you looking for. There are numerous links around here with different versions of stock ROMs.
You need your phone's CID and main version.
Only after that you will search, download and flash the stock ROM that ffits your phone.

I've checked my CID (Using command - fastboot getvar cid)
My CID comes up as : None
I am currently on Revolution HD 7.x ROM and wanted to update to the new 19.x ROM
The problem is when I try updating the hboot, it constantly fails.
I've downloaded the "x.xx.401.x - World Wide English (WWE)" version
A friend of mine has a stock standard One X from Vodafone and JB was just pushed out as an update for her.
I want to try and restore my phone back to the original ROM for that purpose. (also helps in case of warranty)
Have had a look but cant seem to find the original Vodafone ROM anywhere.

This is good news! You need main version also. Then, go and check HERE. There are explanations and files that will help you. Download and flash (as per instructions) nandroid backup that matches your version. Once that finished, you will soon get notification about available update. Accept it, and you will have Vodafone stok JB. After that, do what ever you want with your phone

Thank You very much for your help mate.
Much Appreciated.
Hi guys,
This is my first thread here in XDA, so, forgive me by a possible mistake.
I recently bought a HOX, the seller said that is the international version.
I'm in 4.0.3, with software version 1.29.707.11 (already checked for updates, but phone says its up to date)
So, sometimes when i turn my wifi on, he doesn't connect in my network (already saved), i go to wifi settings, put to scan, and, aparently, the phone don't scan the networks and doesn't found my network too.
Obviously, im on the range of the network, and don't have that factory problem with bad wifi signal.
And, sometimes too, phone takes a lot of time to get carrier signal, so i turn on plane mode, then turn off, and finally get carrier signal.
My question is: is this normal? What can i try to fix it? (Thinked on a factory reset)
I don't tried anything yet.
If anyone could help, i'll appreciate and if the thread is on the wrong place, please move it
Just try flashing the RUU, which will delete everything and return it to stock.

Its basically, a factory reset right? What is the difference from normal FR to this RUU tool?

The difference is that it will reflash the ROM from scratch, it's the first thing HTC do when you take your phone for repair. It's very safe (when flashed with decent remaining battery) and very thorough.
Check the Shipped ROM sticky in the development section.
I am searching about the Rom Update Utility, but i'm not finding a good tutorial to follow, explaining the whole process.
If anyone could help me in the process
Edit:
Thanks again Pope! I'll look in dev section
You just have to charge the phone, put the phone in fastboot mode (hold down the volume down key when switching on the phone, then navigate from there), plug phone into Windows PC and double click RUU.
You may want to do an "adb backup" (you'll have search for this) beforehand, flash RUU, test and then restore.

Don't need a backup, i got the phone 2 days ago hehehe
My HOX is totally clean.
No unlocked bootloader, no root.
This will not be a problem doing the flash with the stock RUU right?

Ben sorry for tons of questions hehe
I'm reading a tutorial, and on it said that i need my CID number, in order to download the correct RUU file for the correct region of my HOX. How can i know if this RUU you posted is the correct for my HOX?
I've tried to get my CID number (downloaded the fastboot flasher tool) but when i put the cid command he returns: CID > None lol
I Know that my HOX is from Shangai (has a SH in serial number) and got my MID number.
So, i just need to know which file i need to download, the right one of course hehehe
If i will need the CID to know, i'll ask for the files for fastboot commands (i don't found them)
If not, just confirm the link you posted ealier if its the correct RUU for my case.
PS.: This link posted is only for premium users, and i don't have a premium acc, can you provide in another mirror?
You can't flash the wrong RUU, the phone won't let you.
You don't need your CID as you are not unlocked, knowing that you are 1.29.707.x is enough. It's the right RUU.
I'm sure you don't need me to hold your hand whilst you use google to find that file somewhere else. The sticky dev thread I previously mentioned will likely have a ton of mirrors for the file.
So.. i'll look fot the file in other places.
Today, i've connected in my wifi network, and the phone says there's an update...
It's the same update announced days ago, but in my case with a different update number...
Phone has been upgraded to ICS 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1.
If the problems persist, i will flash the RUU anyway, but, because of this update, nothing changes right? The RUU file you posted still valid for my HOX?
Not any more, you've updated your hboot, so you'll need an updated RUU (you can't install on older hboot, packaged with an older RUU).

Hi!
I'm currently running an ICJ jellybean rom on my htc one x and I'd like to revert everything to stock because I'm having hardware issues with the screen(dead rectangular strip in the middle) and I want to send the phone for repairs.
I know that there are multiple guides for this but I can't seem to find the information I need.
Phone info:
hboot version: 1.12
version-main: 2.17.169.3
cid: VODAP120
i can't find the proper RUU, i think that it hasn't been released yet
So you have updated your boot? If you did that You're unable to go back to stock (for the moment)

You'll have to find one, maybe somebody else has a backup. Worth asking in the Endeavor ROM Collection thread, which should be sticky in the dev section (search first).

Nevermind, I have extracted the rom zip from the RUU I posted above and then I used this guide to get back to stock and it worked. I now have ICS again, I've relocked the bootloader, installed stock recovary and an OTA update to 4.04 version, but I still have one problem, when I enter the stock recovery a red triangle is visible and I have to push vol+ and the power button to enter the menu. Is there a way to remove the red triangle?
I have hboot 1.28 and the device is S-ON. Can I install Custom jelly bean and then go back to stock to get an OTA update when it comes on my device?
I checked, there is a RUU available for my device too, but i'm confused as some people say the updated hboot wont let you go back.
also, can i just make a nandroid back up and restore from it regardless of hboot, s-on or the RUU availability?
here's the situation
i have recently bought refurbished htc one x
i wanted to update it with offical jelly bean update it showed me
th update downloaded and i proceed to install it, i was a long time on the installing icon so i left my phone, when i got back it wouldnt turn on like the batery was empty
before doing the update it showed around 50% so i wasnt thinking about it, but it seems i died during the update
now - i cannot turn my phone on, its stuck on htc logo, i can access bootloader mode, it says i have hboot 1,12
radio 5.1204.162,29
the bootloader is locked
could someone tell me in simple steps how to bring it alive? is it even possible?
I havent flashed my one x in a while, but try charge it as much as you can while in recovery or bootloader mode.
Then try unlocking the bootloader using htcdev and Hasoons all in one toolkit from the dev section.
That will help you get a custom recovery installed and allow you to reinstall another firmware.
Not sure how much you already know so I apologise if this is basic info haha.
Also dont forget to flash the boot.img if you go with a custom rom
Good luck

Return it for repair if you can. Unlocking bootloader is the hard way out if you ask me.

A ruu might be a way out, but it's a long shot because the ruu doesn't need a unlocked bootloader.

I completely forgot about RUUs. You need to get the one that matches your CID

Sending it for repair isnt really an option as i bought the device and now im leaving the uk.
so they would send it back to me as ill be in another country.
also i opened it as i had the anthena problem but i solved it.
software speaking, as that is the problem, is it harf to fix?
i had couple of androids and customized all of them, but im new to htc and all that ruu,cids...
i dont mind custom rom, right now i just want to recover any functionality.
So if the ruu is the easiest way out is there a newbie tutorial? as i cant find it
and is unlocking the bootloader, flashing a custom recovery ans rom is so complicated to other devices?
i dont.know.what do you nean by flashing boot.img while flashing rom
When you run an ruu the computer end of it walks you through what to do. Make sure you have latest version of htc sync installed and do exactly what it says. Also returning it is the best option under normal circumstances. I did exactly that when ota wrecked my shift
Hi guys,
need your help.
I have Europe M9, with S-ON.
Rooted it, and installed TWRP, installed custom rom.
How to revert it to full stock? I have sold the phone, and now buyer wants it back to way it were.
Thanks.
Thankfully it's pretty easy; just download your carrier specific RUU to restore to full stock. It's a Windows executable that completely wipes & return your phone to factory state.
I have bought it in Telenor Serbia it was on 1.32.401.15. Should I use any Europe RUU, or do I need to find one exact to match my carrier, and-or my firmware version?
sorry if being noob, but cannot understand this HTC's nonsense (s-on/s-off, cid, hboot...) thats the exact reason why I have sold it. to complicated for me...
I just want it up and running, and trust me, I will never EVER buy another HTC again.

Since there are two different versions of your firmware and I don't know which one is the correct one for you I would suggest you to use this firmware and downgrade to 1.32.401.8. This works because the aboot has not been updated until now. The process itself is very easy:
Download the RUU
Rename it to 0PJAIMG.zip (that's a zero at the beginning not an O)
Copy the file on an external SD card that is formatted to fat32 and not bigger than 32 gb
Boot into download mode
Follow the instructions that are shown on your M9's screen
Congratulation you are now back on stock rom and firmware
You have to use either this way or the fastboot flashing method since there are no RUU executables for the european version.
Btw: No one here forced you to buy the M9. Since it's simply a matter of taste it's up to you which device you choose. I personally prefer HTC's user friendliness in regard to bootloader unlock and rooting (compare it for example with Samsung's Knox system). But this is not the right place for that debate.
Edit: Since my phone is S-OFF I'm not completely sure but you might have to relock your bootloader or step 5 might no work properly.
I have the same problem, i wanna know how to restore it to full stock, i need it just in case something happens to phone and i need to use my waranty. I'm also on telenor serbia. Root by itself doesn't prevent OTAs, but changes to the recovery do. As far as I know, acquiring root (for this device) always involves flashing a custom recovery. So OTA aren't possible until the stock recovery is restored.
Do I need to have sd card, or can I flash it from pc using adb?
I have already tried this method, and fastboot gave me an error 22? Maybe I got wrong firmware. Will try again, thanks.

There is a RUU list in the General forum. Not all configurations have RUUs, unfortunately, as it has always been with HTC.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/htc-one-m9-dump-t3060545
By far the easiest way for the inexperienced is to use the windows exe version linked to a few posts ago .
If you're on 1.32.401.15 then simply flash 1.32.401.17 using the exe version. Simply run windows program and follow on screen prompts .
Main limitation if you're S on is it will only allow upgrade that is to go to higher number as described .
I think there is also a 1.32.401.8 exe but that's an earlier version so if you tried to use that and you were on higher version such as 1.32.401.15 then it wouldn't allow unless you had obtained S off.
