One of the things I really like about this phone is the stock "Music player" app. I like the UI, the EQs and the Sense me feature. Is the ICS version similar?

Overall appearance is the same, for the most part. The features are all still there... EQ, Simulated environment, etc. But with ICS, you also get the visualizations. I don't recall seeing those on GB.
And in ICS this app under "Walkman" name, which one I'm like better when just "music player"

Well, its not really about that. I have an "unlimited data plan" from AT&T but they throttle my speed and send me texts saying I'm being excessive and elite like in the top 3% of usage. So its really not all that UNLIMITED. Besides, its just not all that effective to stream music even while charging in the car because of the dead spots along the road. Really kills the spirit and mood when getting into the song. So, there's a bit more to it. Streaming librarys is just not all that it's advertised to be imo.

Lol that's why you download the albums or playlists at home using wifi. Besides, you have every single song from your music collection at your disposal by using Google music no matter where you are. Yeah, streaming is only as good as your data connection, assuming you don't just dl what you want beforehand at home on WIFI, but I'd rather carry my entire collection in my pocket than lugging it around on my laptop.

It's weird. I put my music on the external card and the phone copied the music to the internal sd card. So I deleted the music from the external. I guess it likes to live on the internal card. A Sony thing?

Its perfectly understandable why he would want to do this. Havnt you ever been on the phone talking to someone about a song and just told them to look it up on their computee or something when they got home....well if you had a good song you wanted to tell them about and hear you could just play a little bit of the song for them from your phone.

that's basically what they did with Google Music
you can share a music link from your App, and they can play it on their side right away even if they did not purchase it
the only requirement is for both to have Android Phone with Google Music installed
So basically I'm having issues streaming music in google music over 3g only. I need my pump up music for my meet!

Its not even that, it just won't play. I attempt to play a song and the application force closes after a few seconds. Interestingly, it works well over wifi.

I remember that being a massive battery eater. Otherwise totally agree.
Never had it drain my battery any more than any application that streams data while in use. It does use more power than keeping songs on your phone but never was a battery drain on any of my devices. The new software definitely is smoother though.

I had it install apps on my homescreen. What a pain in the ass. Took me a couple of days to find out what the hell was installing apps, they would just appear out of no where. I was also getting ads in the notification bar. This was on my SG2 so maybe something is different with SG3.
haven't seen anyone mention this one yet but I use TinyShark Downloader... it downloads songs in mp3 format from groove shark and works really well. I don't think there are any ads but I use ad free so it might but I don't see them.there's also a version to stream instead of download. the download version is not on the market anymore (due to copyright issues maybe?)

Google play music, just because of the cloud (only on wifi, not 3g) and the default settings are perfect for car audio. I've played with the Apollo just couldn't find anything that makes it stand out from the abundance of music players on the market.

Apollo is garbage, I was just giving another suggestion because they are obviously not the only music apps. Gtfo? Ok
I use Apollo with the Black theme. I can't say I love it, but it plays music and has the "Hold volume UP to skip" feature... which is really all I need (I use Shuffle All while jogging and it's nice being able to skip a song I dont want to hear without needing to even look at my phone). Last time I checked the Volume UP skip didn't work with Play Music.
I do wish Apollo would get an update with more features, neater UI, and do better with album art.

If it's only used for cloud then it's ok. I live out west so when I leave urban areas service its spotty so I have to have music on the phone as well. Google music doesn't cache what I tell it to. It just caches random things so because of that I say it sucks.
Power amp could be good. It has a lot of features but the interface sucks.
