Hello. My a100 is running with android 3.0.1. As i looked through the forum, nobody has or had this device with such version. Started to think maybe i'have bought a fake? it doesn't found official updates even to 3.2. I tried upgrading to ics with update.zip from sd card. And the update does start, but the bar goes about 20% and i stops. I get a triangle over our green guy's had and recieve such error:
E:/dev/block/mmcblk1 does exist
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature.
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
As i was looking through this forum, for such an error the suggestion is to install custom recovery, but for that action an ics ir required tried rooting the deiviece. It was sucessful. Installed superuser and busybox. Later tried to uninstall everything and do a factory reset. Looks like the superuser is still there now the wireless doesn't work. It connects and shows that theres an exellent signal - but i can't go to app store ore browse internet. So i cannot install apps :/
Need your help. Want to upgrade my tabet to ics or at least fix the wireless, and get back to fully working 3.0.1. What to do? How to instal clockwork mod on 3.0.1? or any custom recovery. because all the tutorials are for ics version.
Have you tried placing the ICS update.zip on your SD card and updating? You need the ICS boot loader (unlocked) to be able to flash a custom recovery.

You could try
Code:
fastboot update update.zip
I think my tablet has to be rooted and with unlocket bootload, to be able fastboot? and it isn't. And i can't root it, cuz i have no file ezplorer installed and can't use internet

No, your tablet does not have to be rooted to access fastboot. Boot into fastboot, then try running the command.

It has to be rooted to put the a200 boot loader to use fastboot on it though
@OP you can't use anything but a stock ROM with stock recovery, nothing else will work. Use the 014 decoded file in vaches stock rom thread,, name it update.zip, put it on your external SD card then try again.
If you get mmclk1 errors again put the card in your PC, backup what you want then format it fat32 again, then put update.zip on I and try again.
Edit I misread that, it said does exist lol. If the update fails I still suggest formatting.
Tapatalked from my Kindle Fire - Jellytime AOSP
Maybe the problem is that i connet my sd card through my phone? Cuz i dont have an adapter, and with my phone it connects as usb storage. I do the fat32 format and put the update.zip, but maybe when i disconnect the card from my phone it somehow corrupts it... Is there any way to connect sd card directly through my tablet? I have ordered a new card and an adaptar but it looks like it will take about two weeks to recieve them, so maybe there's still something i could try because still the new card and adapter doesn't guarantee that it will work
P.S. The wireless is working now. So i can root it. I can download any apps!
EDIT: Just tried to update with new sd card. Fully formatted through adapter. Same thing, can't update :/ any ideas?
So is there any other ways? So far tried everything you suggested. except fastboot. should i try that?

Verify its update.zip not misspelled or .zip.zip or anything like that. Place it on the root of the card, no folders, just plop it there on the SD card. Also what is it saying when you try to run it?

So i guess i will have to be with this 3.0.1 version... damn... even games from google play is not working with it...
my build is Acer_A100_0.012.01_COM_GEN1 .
Why theres written Model A500 FCC ... when i press Certification logo ??? IS it normal ?
And as i looked there's really no a100 model with 3.0.1. but a500 comes with 3.0.1. Could it be that something is wrong with that?

Pretty sure that's a bug in CWM. Try installing straight from recovery rather than through Rom Manager and see if it works for you.
No Go Thanks.
No sdcard found eh? should I have partitioned at someplace in the rooting?
Same error.
I powered down the phone and did the Volume +/- & pwr and chose the file.
Why did you post this in development? This belongs in Q&A.
Did you try going in recovery and select "install zip from sd card" and then select "choose zip from sd card" and point to it manually?

You need stock recovery.
I tried
i flashed the stock Rom. there comes the Update which i cant install
ok i get it i flashed the old boot.img and everythink worked fine...
i extracted it from the old custom rom...
Could you explain how you fixed this? I have exactly the same error: update failed due to error AppSharing.apk - status 7.
It seems OTA is verifying current applications for discrepancies - problem is I have stock recovery and stock ROM which I installed using this RUU from ShippedRoms with verified MD5 > RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_246089_signed
I'm confused as OTA is perhaps informing itself that AppSharing.apk has been modified... but from a clean install??

I guess the problem is still the same, but the solution and diagnostics might differ.
I would say you need to check your recovery and boot.img are stock, you are locked, and that you are not installing an RUU with a bootloader older than the currently installed one. But I know nothing of Pyramid.

But I don't have root or clockworksmod on mine, is it still possible?
Last night I got the notification for 4.4 update. I'm on a rooted stock device, Build JSS15R Kernel 3.4.0-ge52a21
I hit ok to reboot and install. It booted and I saw the green android. I then left the room (mistake), and when I came back it was on the main screen.
I checked and I was on 4.3 still. Is there anyway to check to see why it failed? Any log files? Will I get the OTA again?
I don't really want to sideload but if last resort I will.
Any ideas?

this is exactly happened to me too,
so if my device rooted, i have to do safeload instead of OTA ?
That's stange, as every previous update i've had on both my Nexus 7's have been done on a rooted device.
Obviously you lose the root by doing the update, but just re-root afterwards.
In the cache folder there is a .zip file called. 'Longrandonstringofchars'+.signed-razor-KRT16S-from-JSS15R.7d9b309e.zip

Somewhere in /cache there is a recovery.log file
If you are not on the latest version you'll get the OTA again eventually.
Sideloading is really the same type of install as OTA. The difference mainly being whether it is automatically downloaded or you download by hand and send over a USB connection. The actually install file is the same in either case.
Thanks... I knew it was the same but I had a problem doing the same with an old nexus 2012 and the cable 'slipped' and bricked it.
So, to save risks, i'll wait for the OTA.... Not in a hurry, just curious why it didn't install 1st time.
I'll look at the recovery.log file and see what I find.

To me, it looks like a corrupted download. Maybe you can try deleting the file and reboot?

I thought that as well.. So I copied the .zip file and deleted it.
Rebooting..... I will report back..

The downloaded file is fine.
Your /system/bin/debuggerd is modified.
You most likely are rooted and using stickmount.
You can grab the appropriate debuggerd from this thread in the download section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534698
look for update-KRT16S-debuggerd.zip
You can run it in TWRP or unzip and place debuggerd in /system/bin
Cheers for that.
I've now copied the downloaded 'buggerd' file (appropriate name btw) over and put the OTA .zip file back into cache.
Is there anyway I can execute that now, or do I have to wait for a new download.

I assume you are unlocked?
Download latest twrp 2.6.3.1, unzip, rename as twrp.img, place in platform-tools
Boot into boot loader
In command prompt in your platform-tools directory type
fast boot boot twrp.img
Choose install and select the ota update.zip in the file browser
Or you can skip all that and wait for it to naturally happen.
Question for you. Downloaded the TWRP 2.6.3.1 which arrived as openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-flo.img
You then say unzip. Confused at that point. Using all zip programs says no files. Was that put in to test me?
I had the exact same issue, please update with what you find out.

No worries, I guessed as much.
The update for 4.4 finally popped up on my notification bar as well and I went straight ahead to install it, hit reboot and install, it started the installation. I'm on stock with unlocked bootloader&rooted
Suddenly a sad looking dead android pops up with an "Error!" message. Waited a while and the device rebooted and it's still on 4.3, and I've lost the system update notification & in the settings it says I'm up to date :L
And I had this at the end of my recovery log file...

..does this mean I need to get all the crappy system apps I've deleted back in there in order to make the update succeed? Also any idea how to get the update notification back so it could even try running it again? Thanks in advance!

So you've fixed one problem file (debuggerd) only to notice another file has been modified core.odex.
At this point I would suggest you just flash the factory image. We can go on replacing files one by one, but chances are you modified more than one file either directly or indirectly by flashing something on top for some tweak.
There are instructions and download link for the KRT16S factory image here (choose the nowipe option to keep your data):

If you've deleted a bunch of system apps, best you just flash the factory image, instructions and download here (choose the nowipe option to keep your data):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47640458#post47640458
In the future, instead of deleting system apps, it is better to freeze the system apps if you want to receive future OTAs.
Thanks for reply. It's totally weird tho, as the only thing I've done is use the nexus root toolkit to unlock and root my device.
Apart from that, only added a few other apps like stickmount that may affect things.
The 4.3 update went fine. So it doesn't make sense, but I will now follow the instructions to do it manually.
Cheers for the help.
Hi,
About a month I used rom AR and I was aware of her faults (which yesterday revealed that it is not true), that when I restart, phone must be connected to the pc, and start bootloader via fastboot and the Command Promt flash boot.img dissected from ROM. Fortunately ROM, stable, so I followed all the time does not restart.
Yesterday I got a taste for change (and I wanted to get rid of the problem) and I downladed at first 4.4 ROM from xda taktik then 4.3JB and finally cyangen mod 7.2 Problem unfortunately stayed at all the same. When restarting HTC logo flashes and then turns off the display and starts "black" will flash this is over, unless we do the above procedure via the bootloader.
Does anyone an idea how to fix it?
Thnx
Have you format system + data + cache in mount and storage after wipe data cache and dalvik cache? Try this, if not success I think the only way is download the latest ruu and run it. You will be go back to stock. And we can use tools to root and flash custom recovery.

@Pilsner12 what the state of your phone bootloader..?, is that just unlocked with s-on..?, or already s-off..?, and what a custom recovery you used..?
if your phone is just unlocked with still s-on...did you already flashing a boot.img from the rom.zip that you already installed..?
to JJeamy:
bootloader is s-on, with touched clockworkmod 5.8.1.5, ROM cyanogen mod 7.2
if I standartly restart phone, didnt start. I must connect phone to pc, run bootloader, than fastboot and from pc via command prompt "send" boot.img (prepared from cm7.2) than phone restart and start correctly.
to pauleversham:
I will try it again (but I thing everythning expect SD card was formated, wiped, etc..) If I run RUU rom, I lost root permision, or is it possible get rooted RUU?

so...you mean that you've already/ always flashing boot.img from the rom.zip itself after installing the rom from recovery...and that's mean your phone already can booting normally..right...?, so where's the problem exactly..?
anyway..if the problem you asked is...why you must always do a flashing boot.img manually after installing any new custom rom to boot normally is bacause you're still had s-on flag on your bootloader..that's why bootloader can't give permission to a custom recovery for flashing boot partition..
if you wanna running RUU...then you should be relocked your bootloader first..and that's mean your will return to the stock..so to rooting it again...you must unlocking your bootloader again..
Everytime, when I flash new rom, I have to flash boot.img. I know that. But problem is when I only restart phone, I need to flash boot.img otherwise phone doesnt start.
Today I find out:
- in clockworkmod I try to make a backup. Everything went great (back up boot image, recovery, system, data, android secure, cache) , but at the end I got a message: "No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext."
Before AR rom I had many other roms and backing up and restarting without flashing wors fine.
The last hint which you give me is my last solution. I wouldnt lose my root privileges. I had a lot of trouble to get it..

you don't need to uninstall it..just flashing a new one (like twrp or 4ext) through fastboot..then cwm will be replaced with that..

that's weird thing..i think there's something wrong with your phone partition..
maybe you wanna try it to return your phone to the stock first by running a RUU..to fix that problem...after that
you can tried to fully rooting again for gaining s-off using AAHK2 script by Phiber2000 from here..
