[Q] Slow data speed while T-Mobile Exhibit II is fast - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have two T-mobile sim cards on the $30 100min/5GB 4G plan. I recently bought a Galaxy Nexus and I have a T-Mobile Exhibit II 4G. When I run speed test on both phones at the SAME time, the GN gives me a download speed of 0.1-0.5Mpbs while the Exhibit constantly manages over 3Mbps. Swapping the sim cards gives me the same result.
GN does reach 5-7Mbps, but very rarely and for no apparent reason. Does anyone have any idea why the Galaxy Nexus has really slow data speed? I'm on rooted stock ROM with XXLF1 radio.
Obviously I'm a noob and I don't know much about radios. But I read somewhere that the XX in XXLF1 stands for Europe. Could this be the problem?

[Q] Telus Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile?

I have had a nexus one since last year, and have grown tired of it for many reasons. Mainly the 512MB ram/rom. Also the battery and freezing issues are annoying.
I was looking at getting the galaxy nexus since its a penta band phone, and it's vanilla android with no TMOBILE hacking. Plus my data plan would work with it. But it doesn't have expandable memory, which I don't like. The 21mbps hspa+ is a bit of a disappointment.
I also seem to like the TMOBILE galaxy S2, since it has hspa+ 42, which is a big bump up from my nexus ones 7.2. I also like the expandable memory. But it's TMOBILE hacked which means they have it forced to only use their android data plan.
I know the Telus branded galaxy S2 is the same phone hardware wise and 3G band wise. Does TMOBILE have the imei numbers of Telus phones to prevent someone from buying a Telus gs2, and requiring it to run only on an android data plan?
don't know about the last bit
but you can definitely use the Telus version of SGS2 T989 in Tmo
the plan, will probably be based on your SIM card rather than the IMEI of the phone itself
i know that ATT does that, they use the IMEI to identify if you are ATT or not, then billing you accordingly on the data plan

[Q] GN Speed vs Other 4G Devices

So I was in the Verizon store the other day and I was doing speed tests on 5 devices at the 4G table. Consistently, the Galaxy Nexus scored 20-40% of the DL speeds of the BIONIC, RAZR, MAXX, REZOUND and a couple other which I dont recall right now. This has me a little concerned now that my GN is on the way from Amazon wireless. i just hope i'm not getting a significantly slower 4G device...Has anyone noticed a difference in speeds between the GN and other 4G devices in real world (outside of Verizon Store) locations?
What speeds were you getting? Did you check the phone status and see what the signal was? Could have been different radios causing it or perhaps a background process eating up bandwidth.
considering i easily get 30Mbit down and 15Mbit up, i'm not too concerned with speed.
Our 4G LTE doesn't go live until tomorrow so this was all 3G.
The Galaxy Nexus would consistently get under 100 Kb, usually in the 50-60. Where as the RAZR MAXX or RAZR would almost always score in the 400-500 kbps range.
When 4g goes live and i get 15MB downloads...i'll probably kiss the CEO of verizon. I'm so sick of the data speeds i get when tethered on Sprint with my EVO. I'm lucky if i get 20kbps inside one of the buildings in which I spend most of my time.
Known that the GN doesn't have the best radios in the world.
Quick question is it Possible to use 4g rom ina GSM version and is it possible to get the 4g speed on the gsm

NO. Do NOT flash CDMA software onto the GSM device. It can potentially brick the device.
It seems as though you have a serious misunderstanding of how the devices and carriers interact to give you "4G" speeds. I recommend reading up on what service your carrier offers and go from there.

[Q] Slow data speeds with telus and some other questions

Hey guys new to the nexus world. This is the first nexus phone I'm used to the galaxy series.
OK so I bought my nexus from a friend who was on bell. I'm with telus and first thing I noticed is it doesn't say 4g on it just H I don't know if thats normal another thing is that my data speeds went from 7-10mbps with galaxy s2x (sgh-t989d) to less than 1 with nexus? Radio related issue?
Is the 4g icon a carrier related issue as it is with the galaxy s2 phones. Also are there any carrier based firmware like galaxy or is it all the same with all nexus phones
Thanks in advance guys

The Nexus isn't a 4G phone, its HSPA+...which is why is shows "H+" instead of "4G".
As for your speeds, I get between about 5-8mbps (on average) on Rogers with mine. I used to be on Bell and always got crap speeds on their network with any phone I owned. That's one of the reasons I ditched them.

Thanks I figured as much with the 4G icon even thought telus says that it is a 4G phone that supports up to 14mbps. I'm guessing the 4G icons for the LTE version in the US.
Are there any dialer codes that let you select band? besides *#*#4636#*#* or maybe a telus radio?

Not really, but its easy enough to flash a new radio (assuming you are rooted and have CWM or ADB knowledge).

Woeful ATT GSM download speeds

Hello all.
I am getting some woeful download speeds on my new unlocked GSM Nexus which I am using on ATT in San Diego. I was previously using a GS2 on ATT and getting on average 5-7 Mbps download which I was fine with and so I decided to go with a Nexus and try prepaid GSM service rather than be on a contract and upgrade to an ATT 4G LTE phone. However using my Nexus in the same areas as I used my GS2 I am only getting .5 - 2 Mbps download and it's noticeably slow when not on WiFi trying to use Tapatalk or other apps which use data.
I have tried flashing different radio's but no luck still the same woeful speeds. Any ideas??
So which prepaid service did you switch to? Important to know.
Likely either the area is just saturated, your radio isn't the best for your situation, or you have an APN or provisioning problem with the SIM.
No actually I haven't gone prepaid just yet, I am still on ATT and I've tried a couple of different radio's but all seem about the same.

If you're still on AT&T postpaid, its quite likely an APN or provisioning problem then.

[Q] Can someone explain this

So I went to AT&T store yesterday because I was getting really slow data speeds. The guy said they were having issues with their service and to download mark the spot app. but i did and it kept making me send crash reports. anyway the guy gave me a new sim card. Anyways I just put my sim card in my old HTC Inspire 4G and I got like 8 megs down. when I'm getting 1 meg down on the galaxy nexus. so I'm like WTF? Why am I getting faster data speeds on my inspire and not my galaxy nexus. I even tried to use the default apn from my inspire on galaxy nexus and still got the same result. I've tried Network signal booster but it hasn't helped. I don't understand how my inspire used to get slow data speeds but now it's getting faster than my new phone. I really like my galaxy nexus.
