Stock battery level - HTC One X

Hi guys,
I'm experiencing a major battery drain from my stock One X. It seemed to start when I was playing around with settings for juice defender.
Firstly JD saved good battery levels but disconnected my roaming.
I then reset JD to balanced and now my battery drains within 3 hrs.
I disabled it, changed settings, nothing worked. Now my phone is constantly on charge.
Can someone help?
This happened once before before JD a quick restart and then fine.
Btw love the forum and one X

I think you should remove JD from system and check again. Also check WiFi sleep policy and apps running in memory via task manager. Or install CPU spy to see which process eats your battery. What you stock battery app shows? It also should show the process which eats battery juice.

Installed cpu spy like you said. There seems to be something at 1200mhz that was at 67% over 1 minute 37 secs.
I've un installed and reinstalled JD but it made no difference.
I've been using for the last 20 mibs and used about 30%
Arrrgghhh so frustrating

What app does your battery gauge say you're using it on? Settings, Power, Battery Use. Post a screenshot

Battery life just terrible, need since help plz!!

As title says guys, I don't no why but my battery life is just really bad since I moved from stock 2.1 Rom to custom ROMs :-(
Is it my phone? I can't work pig wot it is. I checked the battery usage #*#*4636*#*#) and it seems the Android system is using A LOT of it. I tried charging with phone off, clearing battery stats, not overcharging, but just can't resolve this issue.
Also, I have sync set to update manually and have mobile internet off always, only on wen needed. Same with WiFi. Screen is on auto and time off screen lock set to 30 seconds
I am using OpenDesire sense Rom
Any help will be really appreciated.
Thanks

I could feel WiFi siginal of 2.2 is much better that stock 2.1,
I suppose that the better performance will bring the fast battery drain,
if your custom ROM support WiFi N mode,
that really makes your battery life short that before.
I have the same problem and same settings as you. I read on other forum that people who updated to official 2.2 have even better battery life.
I cant even squeze 20 hours out of my battery :/
You guys should always post what ROMs you are using...
Opendesire 3.3, its the same with defrost.
i also had really bad battery life on those 2 roms
even doing nothing the phone would just keep dropping
go to official froyo 2.2
neophye roms for me have amazing battery life = 48 hrs..
Agree with cygnet

Check if the phone goes to sleep correctly. Spareparts > battery usage: other usage, since last unplugged.
I had the same problem, until I found out that the phone was not going to sleep. (running and screen on percentages were way off. Almost 100% running and a lot less for screen on.
update to the last radio
I found that after forcing everything to install to SD card my battery life plummeted. There were apps/widgets that should have stayed on the phone. Once I moved these back, battery life was back to normal.
I use Systempanel to see the battery drain graph and could see a pattern to it.
Same issue here, Will try Neophyte tonight
Using this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741663, and it's fantastic! However batt life on .08 and .20 radio is a shocker. I watched a 1 min trailer on youtube, in and out and I lost 4% battery. Before with OpenDesire I'd be shocked if the battery percentage even twitched slightly.

I use Defrost 1.5a and I just use about 2% every hour when the phone is sleeping, and that's with auto sync and mobile data enabled. (disabled it's 1%/hour)
Always underclock to the lowest mhz when the screen is off using SetCPU and when you do use your phone make sure the brightness isn't too high.
I could make a whole list of tips, but I'm sure you'll find more than enough of those on the net.

I may be dumb but how do you force your phone to go into sleep once screen is turned off ?

When your screen is off, your phone should automatically go to sleep. Sometimes widgets or apps keep this from happening (like the music player), making it use battery as if you are constantly working on it.
How I resolved this issue was to find out what app or widget caused this. I ended up starting from a fresh reset, installing first all apps I really use (calendar/message widgets, powerstrip etc.)
I tested by installing an app, rebooting (or sometimes not), check the running time of the phone, turning screen off, and check again in 5 minutes. The phone should go to sleep in about 30 - 40 seconds. I am telling you this, because most apps causing this are widgets/apps running constantly.
However, I found in spareparts also that 'settings' was taking alot of usage time in usage statistics. A simple reboot did the trick from here on. But I am guessing I had installed something which made some app not close properly..
Maybe it is better to have a task manager/killer for these situations.
Running and Screen On percentages should not have too much of a difference if your testing and not using the phone while screen is off (music, bg stuff)
You could try juicedefender, it helps improve battery life by disabling unneeded connections while the phone is not in use

App to tell what prevents sleep?

Hi!
I am running oxygen 2.0 and i know battery is great for some users, so something must be preventing my phone from sleeping. Sis a full wipe when flashing.
Drain is fairly bad with about 5-10% / hour. Wifi enabled. I came from a stock rooted ROM wich had twice the battery usage. Is there any way to tell what processes is preventing sleep?
Thanks!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Anyone? No apps or scripts to fix this? Really annoying. In the Oxygen thread people get 1-2 hour per percent, i cant go under 2%/hour even with just idling.
Trying a new ROM now, so will do another test tomorrow
Make sure your wifi sleep policy is set to never. I've not had any problems with battery usage on Oxygen. I also have the screen brightness very low.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Thanks for the tips. Already set WiFi to never, and i have auto brightness as Adam suggested in the thread. Adjusted it further down even.
What widgets you use?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Try PowerTutor - it helps to define, what app is showing too much activity, when phone sleeps.
Another app is Wheres My Droid Power which tells you what app is using most of you battery!
Widgets: Pure Calendar, Weather widget (with 6 hour update), facebook, power control.
Thanks for the tips! I will be sure to check those out

Battery drain

I am losing about 2-3% battery an hour even when tablet is just sitting there. I've put it in airplane mode to see if it was the wireless but it has not helped. I've even done a factory reset and let it sit there in airplane mode without any of my apps installed and it was still losing about 2%/hr. I monitor the usage and it seems that three different kworker/u:0 process is constantly taking up CPU even during sleep. All I can find on Google is that it is a swapping process. Why it is swapping when system is sitting there is beyond me.
Anyone having similar issue?

Are you on the gen2 build? My tablet ate battery life like crazy when I first picked it up. I tried removing bloat, airplane mode, even factory reset. It didn't go away until I downgraded to gen1 and removed all the un-needed apps, now it will sleep all day in my car in airplane mode and be at 99 to 97% when I get home.
I was on gen2 but I downgraded to Gen1 with all the updates. I only froze all the bloat with titanium backup. Guess I'll uninstall to see if that makes a difference.

Try installing auto airplane mode by don and CPU spy so you can see if your tablet is going into deep sleep
By the way I have gen1 on my tablet
Have you tried the tweaked build.prop by crossix? It did quite a difference for me. He did some tweaks in there to lower the battery drain.
I am using the new buld.prop. I just need to track down whatever process is using kworker/u:1. Seems to be the main battery killer.

I used betterbatterystats on my GB phone to find the source of a battery drain at one point, it shows what apps are holding the CPU in a wakelock and what percentage of time they are held. Don't know if it works with HC though. Haven't had a reason to try it. :-\

Gonna check that app out. I did find one source of battery drain though. It was the Google docs app. Look like it was waking up every once in a while to sync. Uninstalled it and only losing about 1-2% /hr now. Getting better.

Disabling auto-sync and the Background data under settings>accounts & sync can help save some battery as well. You could only enable background data if you really need it (with Market, etc).

Autosync is disabled. Not sure why but Google docs just seems to wake the tablet up every once in a while from deep sleep.

I need a good battery saver app.

Anyone know of a good battery saver app that actually work? Right now I'm using juice defender ultimate and it is OK and I'm sure most of the problem is the rom I'm using (simonsimons34's cm9 for marvelc, great rom) I just charged my phone to 86% and 15 minutes later its at 61%. Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated, thank you.

Is deep sleep working on that ROM cause that's an awful lot of battery usage... Or were you doing something battery-expensive at the time?
I personally don't believe in battery saving apps. All they do is manage your phone's hardware (wifi,Bluetooth etc.) They are always running in the background so they use even more battery. Apps like BetterBatteryStats help you track your battery usage so you see what's using your battery the most and cut down it's usage

I agree, it's much better to do it yourself via a notification drawer power widget.
Make sure bluetooth and wifi isn't left on all day, turn off gps (gps is still on, albeit in a power saving mode, even if the icon isn't showing) when you aren't using it. Lower your screen brightness. Turn off sync and data if they're not needed, and go into aeroplane mode if you don't have any signal (because your phone will drain the battery desperately trying to find a network tower).
I don't think deep sleep is being used on this rom, and its still in beta so Bluetooth and wifi aren't working right now. I have easy task killer to stop running un needed apps and juice defender helps a little. I have had battery issues before but I seriously want to just throw it sometimes, I feel like I am always at the charger with my phone. But thank you guys for the help.

A task killer will only drain battery, trust me. Leaving these apps in RAM won't use up any more battery, but having them relaunch after you kill them will.
If deep sleep isn't working, you would benefit from setting a lower minimum CPU clock. You might suffer a slight performance loss when you unlock. Or otherwise, you can try setting different CPU settings for on and off state. I believe setCPU allows this but you'll need to check.
Helped me slightly with modpunks alpha 0 which didn't have deep sleep.
Without deep sleep, I'm afraid most of the other battery saving methods won't work much...

I dont think that setcpu will help completely, the mentioned drain of battery is a huge amount..and yes the best battery saver is yourself ..maybe your time time change the battery has come up?
I had the same issue a little while ago. when I checked in the battery section of the menu I found that "media server" was running ALOT. often it was using more battery than the screen. after reading a few posts and downloading watchdog lite to see when the process was running, I heard that it could be that the SD card needed formatting (and partitioning as I use INT2EXT). So I formatted my SD, made a new partition reflashed the ROM, gapps and script and BINGO. no more "media server", no more problem.
don't know if this helps but thought id mention it, it was driving me mad.

Battery life issues

Hi,
Something seems to be draining my battery. I froze QuickRemote apps, it didnt improvement.
Any ideas? This way since i bought it
I turned of sync in the settings. And I described services with the built in task manager. Long press home button then tasks manager. Then hit the menu key. You will see a list of everything with services. I checked almost all of mine then hit OK.. It keeps those spots listed from running background services. Helped My battery life out..

I am also facing the battery drain issue and wifi stuck during browsing or downloading. Stand by time is also not good 7% drain in 7 hour. How can i find the issue is in battery or is hardware problem?
Charge your device up by to 100% and then fully discharge your battery to recalibrate the battery. I'd say try this two times.
Also, one thing weird about this device is, turning on WiFi drains the battery faster than using LTE.

I get like 15hr of medium to heavy use with mine

Its probably because of the value pack update. Its modem causes constant wake locks. Going back to the original stock modem will fix that.

Flash the official stock rom fully discharged the battery and charge it to full. Play music use wifi half an hour and medium use. Attaching pics. Is it ok now or ?
