Rom help, what's best for my needs? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I went back in the Q&A forum for a few weeks, but didn't find a similar question, so here I am.
I got my Kindle Fire and I want to install a custom Rom. I did read all the tutorials and have all the software ready, but I don't know which Rom I should install.
I was looking for a ICS Rom that has decent battery life and more or less good App support. What I found were the Simple ICS Rom and the GedeRom.
Is it true that the Simple Rom has more compatibility issues with Apps? Is there a noticeable difference in battery life between the "minimal" Simple, the GedeRom (and the stock kindle rom)?
I saw that now there are some recent JB Roms - are they already stable and efficient enough to "compete" with the ICS ones?
What would you recommend to me?
Thanks a lot

There's like 40 of these threads and they are all in General. Lol.
To answer your question, yes they are very stable.
You're going to get the best battery life with a CM7 rom.

I suggest gedeROM, SGT7, or Glazed ICS. All three of these ROMs have lots of features and are very stable.

This is kind of like asking what is the best tasting ice cream; everyone will have their favorites, but there is no definitive answer. I found the best thing to do is like what you started to do; try each one and see what works for you and what doesn't. I tried a few CM9 ROMs and each of them did not have the battery life that I wanted, so I am sticking with Modaco's rooted stock until CM9 is more efficient. Good luck in finding the ROM that works for you
I got my kindle fire a little over a week ago and I think I have flashed nearly every ICS ROM that has an active forum thread. I keep switching between them all hoping to make up my mind but mostly I forget which is which lol.

I have installed 9 different ROMs. I like GlazedICS. It is responsive and very good on connectivity, battery life, and eye candy.

[Q] Best ROM for Battery Life w/out poor performance?

I'm wondering what the best ROM for battery life and performance is today?
There's a couple other threads, but they're all from before JB got really popular.
I'm on JB right now, but I'd be happy to switch to something else for better battery life (it's really poor right now) and that's not so... broken.
Advice please? and if there's a good JB ROM for this, enlighten me.
Thanks.

This has been covered already in other threads, but both Evervolv's and CM10 by Pons are extremely stable versions of JB. As far as battery life goes, that'll depend greatly on your usage, but battery life on CM10 is only slightly worse than CM7 was for me, which was 1000x better than stock sense.
TLDR: Try new roms to see what works for you.
As above, this information has been posted before and people's suggestions for ROM's are all in this thread here. Best ROM threads aren't allowed but that thread was allowed to remain for people to share their opinions so please use that as all further best ROM threads will get closed.
Thanks

My suggestion is try as many as you can until you find one YOU like. CM7, CM9 and CM10 ROMs have ones that are more "stable" then others. It depends also on what you are planning on using the ROM for.......I mean what are the activities or tasks that you want to accomplish? Do you want the newest JB ROM for app compatibility while sacrificing battery life or a CM7 ROM which is dated a little bit but fares better in the battery department.
Also there is the issue with Flash not working correctly on JB but works with CM7 and CM9. If you want OTG support than you might want CM10.
My personal favorites are remember this is MY opinion and opinions are like butt-holes lil)
1.) Barebones CM7: a bare ROM without all the bells and whistles which leaves a lot of room for personal customization, excellent battery life
2.) Energy ROM CM9: smooth ROM with typical ICS ROM battery life which = or slightly greater than stock
3.) AlienDroid CM10: built on a excellent ROM and allows user custom options for the UI, battery life is getting better with CM10 ROMs but 8 hours might be an average
Hope this helps I'll stop rambling now

Battery saving, stable Custom ROM for daily use

Most battery saving, stable Custom ROM for daily use
Hello!
This is my first here, but i have been reading in this forum for quite a while and I'm pretty sure you experts here can help me.
In general I am really insterested in the whole android stuff, coding apps and trying new modifications.
But now i am looking for a stable Custom ROM, i can use in daily routine and where i dont have worry about crashes and that stuff. I want a stable one because i just dont have the time to flash another one every day or apply a patch..
Another thing is battery life, i have customized my stock rom to last for 1 and a half day, with moderate phone use. But I think with custom roms, the xperia s should be capable of doing more.
My Bootloader is unlocked and the rom should be ics or jelly bean. If there is a stable rom, with high battery life and an experimental JB, id choose the stable ICS.
So please guys what are your recommendations?
A BIg thank in advance
DOUBLEMAD
If you have Jelly Bean where did you got it?
CM10 from FXP. It's excellent. Look it up on the development forum and see if it's for you .
I doubt you'd get much more than a day and a half battery usage with any ROM though

I just got the phone last week, so im new to what ROM's are out there for the phone.. Whats the difference between Touchwiz and AOSP?
I am running CM10.1 (the most recent 'stable' build)
I've been running said rom non-stop since saturday and I have noticed no bugs thus far.
If anything it seems faster and more stable than stock touchwiz.
most noticeably my battery lasts WAY longer than it used to.
Just make sure you flash the right way, with the correct Gapps
I flashed the CM first by itself, then after it booted up successfully I went back and flashed Gapps separately.
Good luck and have fun!
I'm a noob so I can't post links... but get . cm is the site for the cm zip download,
and google gapps and it should be the first thing that pops up.

All of the roms are pretty stable, the best way to find one to your liking is to browse the development forum, read the ops of the roms and find some that are to your liking and try them all out. Everybody wants different things from their phone, so asking what's the best/most stable Rom is like asking what the best sandwich is for your tastes, just gotta try them out and decide for yourself...:thumbup::thumbup: good luck in finding songwriting that suits your needs

Touchwiz is more of Samsung's addition to Android. AOSP is considered a fuller Google experience. For a stable AOSP ROM, your best bet would to be start out with CM10.1. CM10.1, an AOSP ROM, is much smoother than the S3's stock Touchwiz ROM. It runs much quicker and it often has better battery life. However, with AOSP ROMs, you lose Touchwiz features, such as "Smart Stay". You will most likely have to flash quite a few ROMs before you find one you like. I would suggest starting out by flashing the M snapshot of CM10.1 which can be downloaded here. Also, do not forget to flash the 4.2.1 gapps which you can get here. I am assuming you are rooted with a custom recovery installed. If this is the case, just look around in the dev section and you will find many tutorials giving step by step instructions how to flash specific ROMs. CM10.1 is now considerably stable and is fine for daily use.
Pros of Touchwiz: Has many nice features that make a more friendly user experience.
Cons of Touchwiz: Stock ROM is bloated. Often slower than an AOSP ROM. Usually has worse battery life than an AOSP ROM.
Pros of AOSP ROMs: Smoother user experience. Better battery life. Full Google experience. Developers often update these ROMs faster.
Cons of AOSP ROMs: Does not have as many features as Touchwiz.
Aosp is also a lot more customizable.
I consider my phone to be pretty great looking.
And it's pretty stock lol

Most of the roms on this forum are quite stable. Just read the first couple posts of the thread then read at least the last 10 pages. That'll give you a pretty good idea of any problems that may arise. But apart from that, it's really just a matter of preference. Some roms may do certain things that others don't. TW roms and AOSP-based roms are fairly different. AOSP-type roms are usually less bloated and therefore quicker however, TW roms can be just as smooth. My personal preferences for each type are:
AOSP: CM 10.1
TW: Goodness Rom (on team-nocturnal forums, also my absolute favorite thus far) or The People's Rom

@OP, this thread will most likely get closed because you will have a different meaning of "stable" and what makes a rom good as well. No one but you can know yadda yadda, long story short -> Just flash roms that have nice screenshots and try out as many as you can

Spidey mod, please assist!
All ROMs are great and stable for those that use them. All you will get here is opinions and a closed thread. There is no substitute for reading about the software you plan on drastically altering your $600 device with.
