Do any of you guys use a bluetooth audio kit in your car with your S3? I'm talking about the type that can be plugged into your car's AUX input and outputted through the speakers.
Any recommendations around the $50-60 range? I was thinking about grabbing this:

What do you mean by style? And I'm not recommending that particular one since I don't know much about these types of kits. Just posted that one as an example of what I'm looking for.
I think this is along the lines of what you are looking for.

It has a 3.5 plug in it. Apparently has great quality and will clip to your visor. (I don't have one, that is from someone that did in another thread) Plus, it's half the price and has APT-X

I use it in my truck which has a enormous amount of road noise. It's not the best test environment but people I call don't complain so I assume it's OK on their end.
To be honest with you I don't talk much on the phone at all. I use it for Navigation, Music, and Podcasts. Audio is extremely clear and noise-free.

Yep, charging works fine. Once paired all you have to do is turn on your car and push the one and only button once to re-pair it. Takes 2 secs to pair every time.

I bought the Tunelink adapter from Amazon for $90.
It isn't the cheapest, but for listening to music it works very well. I have an aux port in my truck, but using that with the Infuse car dock i was getting horrible engine noises (charging or not), the Tunelink adapter solved that for me, I think it sounds great...
It also has an FM transmitter built in if you don't have an aux port; but I didn't bother trying that.
Just keep in mind, this will only work for music, not phone calls. This is great for me, as my truck has BT that only works for calls, not streaming music.

You should be able to; I connect to my truck BT for phone calls and my Tunelink adapter for music at the same time.
Anyone know a unit that will automatically turn off and on with the car? IE leave it plugged into the charging port and it will automatically power on and connect to paired devices when you start your car (no need to push a button)

...if you like AM Radio sound. I returned mine, the sound quality was awful, nowhere near that of cabled headphones. And speaking of cables, the DS970 headset has a lot of them, to the point of not being much different than using regular ones. During the short time I used them, a lot of it was spent untangling them
Ditto, except I didn't return mine.
I just regret everytime I use them.
AM Radio? Your AM radio is THAT BAD?

Of course the sound is not as great as giant cans strapped to your head. For what they are, I am satisfied.

AM radio was because you probably left them in headset mode instead of stereo bluetooth. PEBCAC
Nope... I tried a number of things, including a registry entry I found that was supposed to improve stereo bluetooth performance. None of it worked. With all those wires it seemed rather pointless to use them. Glad you like them -- I imagine anyone who thinks they sound OK might want the go to their local Costco on free-hearing-test day

I'm trying to find an adapter that lets me use my phone with my non-bluetooth car stereo though aux in. Music and calls, so its needs a microphone as well.
So I found an adapter called Kensington LiquidAUX Bluetooth Car Kit K33428US which is nearly perfect. The problem with it is that the microphone is built in and is pretty much useless according to reviews.
Thanks for any replies.
I just had the same dilemma... I ended up buying the Sonorix C3, I should get it in the next day or two. It's not a car kit but serves the same purpose. Reviews say mic is good.
You should consider getting a bluetooth speakerphone as they are much more convenient, Check out the Motorola T325, its a good one:

In my ears it is. It took me a while to decide on what ones to get. These can last around 14hrs or so on a charge and charge by micro usb.
I sometimes use the samsung headphones that came with the gs2 if i don't want the bt module on my shirt. I put it to my pocket. Kinda pointless to some but I keep my phone cordless like this.
I an charge it on a table or something while still using the bt function. And the stock ear buds for the gs2 have a mic and I think the mic is used during a call. Cause people say they can hear me fine when the module is in my pocket or far away from my mouth.
I am using a Plantronics Backbeat. The one I bought came with a dongle that plugs into a non-bluetooth device. So I use the headset with my phone, via bluetooth. And also can hook up to my TV using the dongle. Under $100.
Picked it up last year at Fry's.

I use a Motorola S305 set. They are cheap in price (under $40 at Amazon) but sound pretty decent. Owned them for almost a year with no problems.
i got a huge list
however of the ones that performed the best
Motorola HT820 the best sound and beat, full feature, easy to use, extra long battery life
as of today i've not found anything that can compare, i've pretty much purchased every sony, jabra, motorola, platonic, all other names i forgot, etc, etc
all the rest were like meh.. 3rd place or worse rating
platonics are the worse
in 2nd place best i'll name Jabra BT8010 super convenient, it kinda sucks in the sound quality for audiophile but gets the job done if you want elegance
What about the LG HBS700: http://www.amazon.com/LG-HBS-700-Wi..._1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1319749852&sr=1-1 inexpensive, comfortable. great sounding.

Jaw bone icon....works great, has great volume and lasts over 4 hours continuous tall time on a single charge
Hi all,
I'm looking for a Bluetooth car audio receiver that is specifically compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S3. The reason I say this is that I have tried several receivers that my friends own and while I can pair and play music with them, if I turn bluetooth on and off, I then have to go into the Bluetooth settings and manually connect to them again.
This is very cumbersome. I am looking for a receiver that I can pair once, leave in the car and forget about. My aim is to use tasker and an NFC tag so that whenever I get in my car, I scan the tag, the bluetooth turns on, automatically connects to the receiver and music starts playing.
Hence, does anyone know of such a receiver. Specifically, I do NOT want to have to turn it on/off. I want to put it in my glovebox and NEVER touch it again after the initial setup.

That is a deck. Not a receiver.
My car deck is already really nice and has an AUX. I'm not looking to change that. I'm looking for something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Britelink-Blu...781329&sr=8-9&keywords=bluetooth+car+receiver
I first bought a Soundfly that has a built in fm transmitter but the gain was way too low, so I returned it. Then I bought this: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CLYJ2I/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 and it works perfectly since I have an aux input and cig lighter power adapter hidden in my center arm rest. That's what I recommend, bit pricey, but worth it for me.

My AUX line in on my car is hidden in the center console along side a built in USB charger, and not really wanting to string a cable across to my mounted phone, this is what I've been considering. It's $70 though so I'm sure there are a few cheaper alternatives like what you linked to.

Forget the HTC stereo clip. I would go with the Samsung HS3000. There is a thread about it in the HTC evo 4g lte accessories thread. I have two and it's great. You can get them with some decent samsung earbuds for like $30.
I'd try the HTC one. It does support Apt-X that the GS3 also supports if you care about sound quality.
Perfect. I read about the samsung hs3000 and they seem to be exactly what i want. Ordering one tonight.

APT-X is supported only on the HTC One X and Samsung SIII so far, AFAIK.
It gives you HD quality sound via bluetooth. MUCH better sounding than A2DP bluetooth from what I've read.
I'm waiting for MFG's to start making car stereo's with the technology.
Currently there aren't any decks that have it.
Hmm, sounds like it may not be the solution you want though. A poster in this thread says he has to turn on/off every time he gets in the car.
Actually it sounds like this device has more than one "issue".

You can plug a headphone jack into it, use a RCA->headphone cable. Then you just need to power it using a USB cable. I added an extra cig socket behind my dash wired into the original cig adapters power leads. Got a USB charger adapter and plugged it in. Starts when the car starts, off when the car is off.
I know this thread is old, but I had the same dilemma. I needed something small, auto-connect on car start, could be charging and listening at the same time.

I looked over this thread and am shocked nobody has posted this solution. It is so freakin cheap compared to the competition and works just fine. The one for my car I've had for a year already with no issue. The charge on it lasts about 4-6 hours before needing recharge. Honestly, take a look at this guys

Thinking of connecting this to my home receiver through RCA aux. Can this be continuously plugged in to a power source and still transmit the music or is it a situtation where you have to charge then unplug then connect to stereo? Hope that make sense. :silly:
Bit shocked some things like the Belkin bluetooth handsfree kit has not come up.

I picked up one of these, and it works better than anything I have used so far. I normally HATE Belkin for sub standard crap, but this thing has lasted longer than anything. I also picked up for 15 about to be sure I got good audio a ground fault isolator. I highly recommend you get one if the device that connects to the aux port also connects to the car for power. So unless it is battery powered I would get one.

Okay, I have an older car (2001 Dodge Stratus)
The stereo is not stock but it is still old and does not have a USB or 3.5mm connection. I used to use my ipod for music so I bought a --static.bhphoto.com/images/images345x345/424579.jpg--- for my car. (It plugs into the cigarette lighter and connects usb to ipod connection).
If I take the connector out I can run USB to Micro USB for my Galaxy s3 and it will charge. However if I go onto google music the sound will not come through my car speakers.
Can my device do this? Do I need a new device, that goes into my cigarette lighter? Do I just need a new stereo? I thought I would be able to still use the same FM transmitter via usb but it seems to not work. Are there 3.5mm cigarette lighter FM transmitters I could use instead? Any help would be awesome. Thanks so much ahead of time.
I just bought this:
Go groove flex smart x2 (not allowed to post links yet)
Play to your radio over your phone's Bluetooth. I've only had it for two days, but it's working really well. I've called over it, and the other end didn't realize it was over speaker, so it's nice and clear. You can charge your phone too out of the device, but it's a lot easier to just jump into your car and it sync on its own and just start playing music.

Does this work on older cars that do not have bluetooth built in already?

I guess I didn't explain clear enough, I'm sorry.
This device receives the Bluetooth from your phone, then transmits over your car's radio.

Oh wow thanks so much! It can do calls too?! Sounds excellent guys. Ill look into it
That seems like a really promising device, but it kinda pricey, at least for me.
Anybody have any alternatives?
(I'm in the same situation as the OP)

It's seems like a high price, but for all of the features it's a pretty decent deal. I bought it from newegg. They have/had a promotion for ten dollars off.

If you don't mind having to plug in some cables, there are plenty of FM transmitters out there that use a regular 3.5mm connection (to connect the transmitter to your phone) for Audio.
Some of them run on batteries, others you have to plug into your cigarette lighter. Some of those offer a micro USB cable or a USB port to charge your phone with, others don't.
Just look around on amazon or ebay. My experience with those transmitters wasn't good but it's been a while. Maybe newer devices work better.
Definitely get one where you can choose from a wide range of channels not one of those where you only have like 3 channels. Because depending on where you live there might be many radiostations that can overlay the signal of your transmitter. You have to find a channel that isn't used in the area where you usually drive around in.
