Galaxy Nexus - Zone Notification - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've this issue where a sim card with a gear icon labeled as 'ZONE' is present at all times in the notification bar which unfortunately cannot be dismissed. Carrier is Videotron and from what I understand, all their NG's have this issue. I've dug around and have discovered that it's related to the SIM Toolkit APK and can be removed by rooting and deleting or freezing STK.APK. Force stopping is temporary as the APK eventually gets re-launched.
I've been reluctant to do the above, was resigned to tolerate it and then finally stumbled on a way to get rid of the notification. Note that it's a hack and has to be redone following a reboot or when turning the phone on, however, I like it for the reason that rooting and deleting or freezing the APK is not required:
- Put phone in Airplane mode
- Pull down the notification blind
- Long press on the Zone notification - APP INFO button will appear below the notification
- Hit the APP INFO button that appeared
- SIM TOOLKIT app info page will appear
- FORCE STOP the SIM Toolkit
- Turn Airplane mode off
And the notification is gone and will not reappear until the phone is rebooted. Perhaps a flag is not set when force stoping the APK in airplane mode, and consequently, the APK is not re-launched. Just a guess.
This is working for me and would appreciate if anyone else could confirm that this is a workable hack for GN's that have this issue. About my phone, I flashed stock YAKJU, rec'd OTA JB update, bootloader is unlocked, phone is NOT rooted.

Zone remover
FYI
This app removes the zone icon (sim card) from the notification bar of the phone. This is a common situation for customer of Videotron to determinate if the customer is in his Zone or not.

HTC Notifications Manager on AT&T Tilt 2 Stock ROM

I was reading through the Tilt 2 user manual last night and came across some screenshots of the HTC Notification Manager. It's supposed to pop up when one taps any of the icons in the title bar (signal meter, battery meter, etc.). On my Tilt 2, tapping the signal meter causes a connections bubble to pop up, but nothing else. Using the FDCSoft Task Manager, I found the HTC Notification Manager service to be stopped. It's set to automatic, but doesn't start when the phone boots up. You can start the service and the Notification Manager will work after that, but it will not survive a soft reset. Has anyone else seen the same behavior or found a fix for this? Is there any way to make the service start when the phone is soft reset? I checked the registry settings for the service but there was no obvious key to change.
I did a search for this and found a brief thread from October that was never resolved. Just curious if there is a fix for this.

Carrier pop-ups reset notification volume

(Accidentally posted this on another forum initially)
Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S II T-Mobile (SGH T-989). After sending a SMS , I always get a pop-up from my carrier indicating my balance.
As soon as this pop-up appears (along with a vibration that I can't seem to disable, despite having vibrations disabled in the settings menu), my notification volume gets reset to 25% always.
Is there any way to fix this? I downloaded an app called "Volume Locker" that resolves this , but I'd appreciate it if I could fix this issue without it, and especially that vibration.
My carrier is Airtel (India) btw.

google now in notification bar just disappeared

anyone else's google now in the notification bar just disappeared ie the weather card. didnt swipe it away or change any setting but it just disappeared as did time home.
there all showing in the app as normal , ive tried turning google now on and off. tried clearing app data and cache and still wont re appear in the notification bar.
any ideas?
FIXED
Turns out there was an update id not been notified about in play store once updated all back to normal
Mine still doesn't show anything after the update. I like to keep my weather info on the notification panel. Already did the off/on trick or clear data. Both my gnex and n7 are totally blank
Edit: after update the card setting was suddenly turned off from low priority. All fixed now

I have the same problem.
I initially tried to use SBEAM to send some files between my Note II, and my friends S4.
Then, I tried to turn it OFF, and same error occurs.
I also turn it off in the settings without a problem, but it automatically turns back on.
Which I really don't know why.
Hopefully this gets a fix.

Known issue. (Not sure if Samsung knows this, the issue keeps recurring even in recent updates)
I'm not sure if there is a fix, but a workaround which works for me,
1) Turn off the NFC manually
2) Replace the NFC icon from notification panel with some other unused icon (say blocking mode)
3) Restart Phone
4) Add NFC notification panel icon back and now it should be okay and working for sometime.
5) I don't know what causes it. But repeat step 1-4 when System UI hangs and throws error.

cheers another method i found was
turn nfc on and off manually about 5 times from the wifi menu in settings
then the icon works

Talkback icon keeps turning on Tab 3.0 - 7 inch variant

Anyone else have this problem with the icon in the status bar of the talkback icon showing up in settings saying that it is on?
I check the settings and it is definitely off but the icon remains.
I've restarted the device and reset the icon by turning it on and back off, but eventually the icon finds itself back on randomly.
It's pissing me off.

Same problem here . Usually happens after a restart. Only way I get rid of it is by enabling it and disabling it again (though operating in Talkback mode is a bit of a work and takes a bit of understanding of how to operate...like using using two fingers to swipe the screen and double tap instead of a single tap to select an option. Hence I would not recommend my way of getting rid of the icon, unless you know what you are doing ).
Samsung should really come up with a fix of this annoying bug.
Happen to me as well until I uninstall all apps that use this method to push notifications.
I.e. go launcher notification plugin
