Which att ringtone? You should be able to pull the video player out of any stock rom zip with 7zip or equivalent.
The ringtone can most likely be going on Zedge.

AT&T firefly ringtone. I dont like ringtone apps or sites because its mostly garbage or songs that are not the kind of music I listen to.

I would back up ur original files instead of over writing them.
Boot files go to /system/media

You accidentally a few words.
Shutdown file actually goes in /system/media/video/shutdown
Also, I got the same sounds when I swapped in the international versions. Do they both have the same sound or is the sound located in a different file in a different place?

Do you happen to know how to edit them or have mute versions of the .qmg files?

Animation Sounds
I manage to extract the sounds off of the international SGSIII ROM. I noticed samsung only place a poweron sound so I made a poweroff sound to match with it. simply extract the files into /system/media/audio/ui.
I hope you guys like the poweroff sound .

You cannot edit .qmg files, only samsung has the program to do that.
You can however delete those files, so you dont have to listen to the sounds.
You can also replace the qmg files with other .qmg files from different devices. such as the international boot animation, instead of the sprint one.
once a kernel is developed, that has init d support, and custom boot animation support, we can add any boot animation.zip or boot animation.sanim to the system/media files, and system/media/video/shutdown for the shutdown animation, which is shutdown.zip typically.
this is the same with any samsung device.

Unfortunately no. But if u delete the custom boot animation (boot animation.zip) then the stock will play. The international is considered stock. Anything ending .qmg is "stock".

Widget locker for lock screens
Settings > S-Pen > Pen Attatch/Detatch sound
Also the sounds are stored in:
/system/media/audio/ui
You can try changing the files to the sounds you want. It should work though may cause issues if not correct size. I just turned off sound and turned on vibrations for S-pen.
I use widget locker, works 99% of the time, sometimes original lock screen is shown though.

Pen_det_noti1.ogg is the sound when removing the pen.
I downloaded an app of sword ringtones, picked the sound I liked, deleted the original .ogg file and added the sword sound file to the directory and renamed it.

1) I download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fun.entry.sword
2)Using Root explorer to extra the sound i like from /data/app/fun.entry.sword-1.apk<this is app from Market link above)/Raw/this is where you will find the list of sounds
3) After choosing my favorite sound,I long press on it & the option to extra it came up which i then clicked.
4)After that i went into /System /Media/Audio/Ui
5)I clicked on rename Pen_det_noti1.ogg so i can copy the Name but i didn't delete it.
6)I then went into /sdcard/speedsoftware/extra then i long press on the sound i extrated earlier in step 3,click rename & i paste the Pen_det_noti1.ogg name onto it.
7)I then cut the newly renamed sound,went back into /System /Media/Audio/Ui & paste the new sound that i renamed which will overwrite the original.
I only change the detach sound for now,looking for a high bitrate light saber sound now

The sound is located under /system/media/audio/ui
It is called Lock.ogg. You should just have to replace this with another Lock.ogg and change the permissions. A reboot may be required.

And yes i did set permissions correctly but i never wiped data for my other sms app.. could that be the issue?

It shouldn't when testing all I did was push then fix permissions. not sure why it doesn't work. Maybe you can ask Eschelon and see what he says?

Did not work for me I'm not sure if its because I'm using the T-999 stock rom. I dont know to do the mod myself & I have been trying to learn & do it for myself since 7 am, but is getting nowhere. Could do a mod from a copy of my own camera & sms apk or help me to do it for myself? I'm really tired of being a nube & dont really want to be a bother to anyone.

I installed it by renaming the original to samsungcamera.apk.bak or whatever, putting the new samsungcamera.apk in /system/app, fixing permissions, then reboot. Any suggestions?

Im using the same build and modded the messaging app from that same build. Still I'll look into doing the the one you gave me.
Are you deodexed? I think you have to be deodex for this mod, if not still take my modded mms.apk and put in settings/app and fix permissions. Then backup or delete the .odex file. That should fix it.

I'm really not sure if my phone has odexed or deodexed. I don't remember doing any dexing, but I will try this and give you feedback.
The stock rom comes dexed but people de odex so that it's easier to mod. If all you did was root then you may be dexed.
