First, a question: why you want to go to 2.3.4 when the 4.0.4 is already official?!
Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24467321&postcount=1
Download the .ftf image
Follow the instruction from here:

At the end, you should be 'like a baby'

update it to 2.36.405.8 using an RUU, then use Gingerbreak to temp root.
http://driphter.com/index.php?topic=3867.0
Follow my steps, If updating to 2.36.405.8 using the RUU fails,
Download the Rom from http://www.multiupload.com/L9NQX31FSF
Place it on your goldcard's root directory, (overwriting the old one), Turn off Fast Boot in Settings > Power, then turn off the phone from the power menu. Boot to bootloader (Vol dwn + pwr) and let it load up the rom off the sd. Hopefully this update will take, if it does then you'll be able to go back to my method and start at step 2 following the gingerbreak path.
what about
build number 2.52.1010.2
android 2.3.3
do i use the same method or downgrade?

If you would have read the several dozen threads regarding this, or chose to use the search function at the top of the screen and searched you would know that there is not way at this time to downgrade or root 2.4x builds or 2.5x builds unless you have Radio S-off (not to be confused with ENG S-Off).

Are you doing it via PC Companion?
Why not just flash ameer's .ftf 4.0.4 ICS package using Flashtool? It's definitely faster and hassle-free.
use sony update service program
download it from sonymobile.com and use it to update instead of pc companion
thank friend i have updated it...
i recognize that u must relock ur boot loader then update to ICS

Wrong, completely wrong.
Xtacy! Told you as first reply what you should do.
Download the ,ftf, flash using flashtool and there you go.
I have updated/downgraded from GB to ICS about 3 times using that method with an unlocked bootloader.

Are you SURE the bootloader is unlocked? I'd try flashtool it's so much simpler
Yes I agree, install flashtool.
Install flashtool from here: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Once downloaded and installed head over to the directory of the programm and inside the folder "Drivers" install the driver located and chose appropriete options when the tick boxes come. Then you will figire out the rest. In flashmode you can flash kernals easily
it still don't work, any idea?

Your bootloader is probably not properly unlocked then. Try go over the procedure again to unlock the bootlaoder.
i try twice, but same result ...

Try download the kernel again. Maybe kernel file corrupted?
Greetings peers,
Re: On-screen-buttons for stock .587 (Arc).
I have been away for some time due to the fact I have an Xperia V (LT25i) now since December 2012. It is a very nice phone but I miss the modding of my good old Arc and the development/modding of Xperia V is not so advanced yet. :crying:
Please help me to find a working on-screen-button mod for my Arc (LT15i), I was looking in the Themes and Apps forum here, but the ones at the first and second page I tried was not working for me, it gave me bootloop after flashing it with CWM.
Please direct me to a post where I can download this mod for a clean stock .587 :good:
Ps. Xperia V has terrible battery life with Jelly Bean, but we are hoping for a firmware update and fix one day.

Hello, I'm an XS user since months ago. My XS is in JB 4.1.2 build .200. It's been rooted by the previous user and it's locked bootloader.
I wanted to install Trinity 4.0 custom rom, but I have problem in installing CWM. In Trinity thread, it's said that I have to install CWM by cray_doze, so I see the tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42164128
But, everytime I tried, I always stuck in this part:

What can I do?
I've installed the busybox, enabled USB debugging, enable unknown sources. I don't know what to do next. Please help!

For that to work, you need to be atleast on .211 or .96fw.. And u need to root using Doomlord's method...
