I would like to have the ability to silence the shutter and focus sounds but I do not want to delete the sound files, a friend of mine has an ATT S3 so I have access to his apk and odex files.
Is it possible to use his apk (which has the silent setting) and if so how would you do it? I tried ES Explorer but I could not get the camera app to show up on the Galaxy even after reboot and Dalvik wipe.
Any input is appreciated.

I downloaded the Vanilla lockscreen and some other vanilla apps. One of them must have set the gallery to "vanilla." Now I get this floaty groups of pictures that tilt when I tilt the phone.
How do I get the stock gallery back?
Juat uninstall the other app..
*This was posted from my Evo 4G using Tapatalkpro! Great app, if you want to browse and post through many dfferent forums*
Thanks for the post, but there is no other app to install. The vanilla gallery is the only app (besides Astro file explorer) that will open pictures by default.
If I download another picture viewer from the market, it does not display in the list of potential apps when clicking on a picture file. For example, if I'm in Astro and I click on a jpg, a little window pops up asking me what program to open it with (since I cleared all my defaults). The only options are Astro and Gallery, regardless of what other apps I have installed.
I do not like the "floaty" Vanilla gallery. It looks messy to me.
Does my question make sense?
Hey all, having a bit of trouble with my Gallery lately.
It seems that since I flashed Syndicate 1.1.0 my Gallery has stopped recognizing any additional images I put on the SD card, regardless of location. This is making it near impossible to set new wallpapers and replace my Launcher Pro dock and the like.
Apps such as HD Wallpapers save the image, but it doesn't show up in the gallery afterwards. I can confirm the file is there though in a file explorer. Even if pictures are added to the Gallery in the same folder as images it already recognizes, the Gallery does not show them.
I can't seem to figure out what is causing this problem despite searching and tinkering. My Gallery is completely unmodified. Any help would be extremely appreciated!
Thanks!
Try a separate gallery app
or
Go to my file app then find image then click that might work

I can't seem to find a decent gallery app in the market. Any recommendations? Gallery 3D wouldn't install because it isn't signed properly...
Like I said in my original post, I can find and view the photos in Adao File Explorer (My Files is removed by default on the Syndicated Rom), and clicking it does open it temporarily. It however does not add it to the gallery, which eliminates my ability to use images as Wallpapers or for LauncherPro.
Use sdx all remover to remove gallery then try gallery 3d

Quickpic is almost identical to Gallery. Try that.
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.2.1 (the "OTA-like" ROM that is over on rootzwiki, basically stock AOSP 4.2.1), and I want to start using the alarm (using the default clock app). but I don't want to use one of the default alarms, I'd much prefer to wake up to a song of my choosing. First I copied a song (in .ogg format) into the /sdcard/Alarms folder (using Root Explorer), but it doesn't show up in the list of choices in the clock app. So I then moved the song into the /system/media/audio/alarms folder (again using Root Explorer), as that is where the system alarms sounds are saved. But my song still doesn't show up in the list of choices for an alarm in the clock app. Lastly, I then cleared the cache from the clock app, and force stopped it. when I reloaded the clock app, same thing, my song was not included in the list.
What am I doing wrong, and how can I get the default clock app to recognize my custom alarm sounds?
The /system/media/audio/alarms location is fine but reboot your device after putting the sound file there
I tried with a .mp3 file not a .ogg and it worked
Yup, a simple reboot worked. Thanks.

I'm having the same issue except on tf201 and even rebooting doesn't help. Any ideas as to what I could try?
I really like the way the Stock Android Gallery app handles my photo, rather than the Sony Album app. But recently I noticed that my phone has a number of photos that supposed to be deleted re-appeared in my Gallery app. Very strange.
I installed Google KitKat 4.4. Gallery and Camera app , installed google plus, thus the "photo app" came together as well. All photos save to SD card DCIM folder by default. I did make sure that cache cleared, thumbnail rebuild after each test below:
1. Delete a photo from Gallery App, it disappear from all photo viewing apps, including the Sony Album App.
2. Check ES Explorer, the photo supposedly deleted still in there.
Tried again, using the Google Plus photo app
1. Delete a photo from Google Plus Photo App; made sure empty the Bin as well. Check all photo viewing app, the photo has been removed.
2. Checked ES Explorer again, the photo deleted is still there!
Then I tried Sony Album App
1. Delete a photo from Sony Album App. All photo viewing apps have the photo removed
2. ES explorer: this time it removed the photo there as well!!
Is this some kind of feature that the google apps build to protect accidental deleted image? If so, how come the photos are still there after Bin was emptied? How to make sure the photos that I wanted to delete is genuinely deleted? (apart from using other apps)

It gives you the option when setting up the Phone to backup to Google so check your sync settings.
I didn't even turn on the photo auto backup. So there is nothing I can set there except from logging into google account.
As for the Gallery app, I can find any setting regarding deleting photos. There is not even a Bin folder in there.
Bump. Anyone can help?
I don't have the option to edit photos using the stock KitKat Photo Editor. Why is this?
When I choose to edit a photo, it only gives me the options to use the photo editing apps I have downloaded, but not the stock KitKat Gallery/Photo Editor. The stock photo editor allows for some nice features that I would like to use.
Turn on Wifi and be connected over it. Then try to edit your photos. It will ask you to edit it with editor. Need to be downloaded, but works only over Wi-Fi.
Turning on WiFi didn't seem to work for me. I just ended up downloading a kitkat gallery app. Annoying but I can live with it. Thanks!
If there are still suggestion I'd love to hear.
