[Q]Signal Strength with T-Mobile? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I'm switching over from the T-Mobile G2x and I'm getting the Galaxy Nexus from the play store next week, and I wanna know how good is T-Mobile on this phone like the signal strength? Which HSPA+ do we get 21 or 42? Just wanna make sure it works with T-Mobile.

Oh it works and its only 21 but not like bit matters no one comes close and signal strength is crap in my house it struggles to get one bar where the s2 got two or three. But service is good nonetheless

I had a g2x. The nexus gets better service than it did across the board, but my SGS4G got a little better data speeds (its also a 21hspa+ device) whereas the nexus does better on cell service.

Have the nexus for about a week already on T-Mobile. Been around Connecticut all weekend, steady 3-4 bars. Havent lost service yet. Just as good if not better than the amaze

H is "4g". It should show 3g until its actually actively transferring data then switch to H.

Att data speeds

I know there have been numerous threads about this but I wanted share how ATT has improved there HSPA+ network, at least in my area

Wow that is pretty impressive, I am getting 3mbps in the Bay Area, and I thought that was great.
Mind to share what apn setting you use?

I was just in Philadelphia over the weekend and loved the speeds on ATT. I got 7 Mbps with a ping around 80. So good compared to here in Cali.
I'm in Orlando FL. At home about 1-3 down and .5 up, but at work (a few miles away) I get 3-4 solid and 1 up.
At home on a Sunday am I get solid 6 down and 1 up.
So I'm happy, my "unlimited" data lasts longer than if I had an LTE.
Ran XXLA2 then changed to UGLC1 and see really no diff.
I did get Getril Premium and matched up my RIL but no diff then either.
My reception with this phone sucks in my house but at work it's stellar.
Of course at work I can see the tower from my office window .
APN: I use standard default from the first time I put in the ATT sim from my Atrix.
Here's what we are getting in Vilnius/Lithuania.
HSPA or HSDPA (I dont know the diff; at least I see "H" near the signal strenght).

You can't get around 30 Mbps with a HSPA+21 phone. You either have a Verizon or Sprint version

Sprint Galaxy Nexus Network type?

Has anyone been noticing any strange network types on your toro+ I usually get EVDO REV A:8 but lately it has been jumping between EVDO REV A:6, EVDO REV 0:5, and 1xRTT:7 never seen all these different types before I just noticed it when I started using Jelly Bean. Speeds are slower also unless I'm by the Sprint store then I would see like 2mb/s but anywhere else more like .5

I don't ever pay attention on my toroplus. Lol

I think its just sprint messing around with their antennas.
If you don't think so maybe nandroid backup and wipe and reflash jelly bean see if it persists.
Or try a different kernel?

Since I see that you are seeing the same things I think it might be because its an LTE phone because my Photon doesn't display those networks I see I have data upgrades, and voice upgrades planned and some they say have been completed maybe it could be Network Vision. Normally if I had no bars call would not go thru neither would text but now it seems they will with no bars. Speed is slower since I'm on the outskirts of where towers are but better connectivity I can't explain it

My experience with sprint is that they have really screwy connectivity. I love their phones.. except the 4s which I hated and was useless. And I love their 'unlimited' data. But right now their going through a tough time. And that's cause I've been paying for 4g for almost two years and I have not gotten a single drop of wimax when I had the epic and the epic touch. Nor a drop of lte now that I have a toroplus.

Yea I know what you mean I'm in the same boat I'm looking for a gsm phone right now to leave sprint I wanna stick it out but the promise of 4g after 2 years is a bit much to handle seeing how I never got it now I just wanna go prepaid

Well I hear an unlocked nexus is cheap
But also my step dad bought a moto renegade and was promised push to talk... never happened
He bought an evo 3d... now its discontinued...
He's also been paying for phantom 4g.. he's pissed haha he's gonna see if he can "talk" with sprint to see if he can get a GS3...
I think that's pretty hilarious

[Verizon] How is the reception?

hello,
How is the reception on the Verizon Nexus? I heard there was a radio issue but not sure if it was true or if it got fixed. Anyway... any feed back will be appreciated.
Better.. was like utter crap before the last release.. battery was doing well and 4g signal worked as well as can be expected..
it's been great in Phoenix
It depends on your location. Some areas have great VZW coverage, others not so much. You should ask your local friends if they like their coverage.
However, I have found VZW has better penetration into large buildings. When I had AT&T + iPhone, I always lost signal at work unless I stood by a window. With VZW, my GNex rarely drops calls no matter where I am (of course, the two different phones may have been a factor).
You hear complains about the GNex radio and dropped calls/data, but you shouldn't let that sway your decision. Every model that comes out will have its share of units with constant signal problems, and the GNex is no different. Owners of such phones fill the forums with complaints & requests for help (legitimately so), which tends to give the phone a bad reputation. But the vast majority of GNex owners never have major signal problems. And those that were having signal loss with the original radios will most likely agree that signal quality has improved significantly with the latest firmware.
Thank you for those quick replies... I was asking because in some places I read is a bug with ICS and others that is the radio. I got a GS3 but i'm going to return it and get a Nexus till the new Nexus comes out.
I have good signal just about everywhere.

I've only had mine for a week and Verizon signal is great. 4g is great too. Only thing that's weak is Wi-Fi for some odd reason. Honestly... the Galaxy S3 is a sweet phone , played with one yesterday. But for some reason I like my Nexus better. The screen on the GS3 is better but that's about it. And not worth it yet cause of its locked bootloader. You will be happy with a Nexus.

The signal is spotty. It was like that with my coworker's Fascinate. I foolishly thought they'd get it together a year later when our nexus launched. Nope, it still sucks in the DC area. My other coworker picked up the SIII it *still* sucks! I don't know or care if it is Samsung or Verizon that sucks when it comes to data on VZW's LTE but it's pathetic.

There are definitely areas where Verizon is not king. I spend a week or so in Torrance every year, and Verizon sucks there bigtime. In fact, I think ATT had LTE right on Redondo Beach. Or so I was told. I barely had 3G, although to my defense I was on JB at the time.
My experience has always been very good with this phone. This link says it all!
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/25921-this-is-why-your-verizon-nexus-signal-sucks/
I've learned to ignore the signal bars all together, as long as my texts and calls go through; which they do even when there's no bars showing.
4G is spotty on here, but I'm on wifi 95% of the time anyway, and on 3G the remainder...4G isn't worth anything to me really.
Cheers
I have no problems in Pittsburgh

Anyone knows a good place in Boston/Mass/NH or online where i can buy SPH-L700?!
Thank you in advance
and sorry for not creating separate thread.
Not to be a downer, but when I got the TBolt (First Verizon 4G Lte phone) my speeds were constantly 35+ Mbps everywhere I went. Now that everyone and their mother has a 4G phone I am lucky to get about 10 - 15Mbps in most places. Saturation is a killer.

Verizon galaxy nexus antenna

My Verizon upgrade is due in February and though I love my galaxy nexus the reception is terrible constantly in 3g. I had an s3 for about 6 months always had 4g but just missed my nexus to much and switched back despite the constant data drops..
Which phones on Verizon have the best/descent/worst antenna?

go to settings>about phone>baseband version= it should say for the vzw variant "I515.10 V.FK01 / I515.FK02" <-if you dont have that version,go to this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890585 ) and get the latest radios, since your still getting drops and bad speeds you might need to upgrade your radios.
i have the latest radios, though my question is redundant... i have had a nexus for 2 years always keeping up with the latest radios.
Same problem here. It's bad enough that in switching to T-Mobile as son as I can. I'm done with Verizon's sub par network and crap phone selection. I love my gnex but paying for 4g and rarely getting 4g to work is just not worth staying with them. I had the same problem on my Moto Bionic. I think their network is just receiving way to much traffic for it to handle and they don't have enough towers or networking to deal with it. Sorry, just my rant I had to get out.
